Im surprised more people don't use the Dimarzio Fred, im in a few metal bands and i love the Fred, really give you a dark metal tone . Even though its not meant for it, i use it becasue i admire Joe's playing
i just wanna know what you used to record this, camera software and how you plugged you guitar in to your PC (if you did) because it sounds so amazing
scalloped frets are mostly helpful for making your fingers grip the string. I am not interested in them because of the bending problems. when to much pressure is applied.
They aren't necessarily better, it's pretty much a matter of opinion, they make it so you only have to touch the string very lightly, and for this reason are supposedly faster, but if you touch them too hard you get an awful off pitch noise, and also look at Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, Batio, some of the fastest guitarists in the world (especially Batio, although i don't really care for his music) and they don't have scalloped frets.
Can you brake this song down in a lesson please. I know from the beginning to 2:14. Lessons for this song are really hard to come by. Help out if you have the time and you can. Thanks
@hitmhard try to find licklibrary videos, they have a good video with some Satriani's song explained note by note, I think they're almost 100% accurate.

Scalloped fret boards are used a lot in eastern music. The fact that the pitch changes when additional pressure is applied is used intentionally.

why scalloped frets are better than normal ones?
Matheus10Man 2 years ago
it is like having taller frets, but the strin wont go deeper than normal so i donno why
letterbekmen 2 years ago
I think there's less friction between your fingers and the fretboard. It makes bending and vibrato a lot easier.
