Jackie didn't become the MGM lion until 1928. I think you have your dates a bit off, this is the logo that was used from 1928-1932. As well if my memory serves me right this is the extended version.
"metro's" family has been involved in a long battle over corruption in this company. it is one reason for political and economic trouble in ohio. it has international connections to other countries and governments and mafia elements. it also has to do with political and economic philosophies and corruption in the U.S.
jackie the loin was the most funniest lion out of all variations. in my opinion she sounds and acts little bit like a dog (two to three second mark). the logo was there at the start of "the wizard of oz".
My friends and I always assumed the MGM lion was named 'Leo". Had some fun with this one once; me and friends were watching "Freaks" which had this lion at the start, I told them to "watch this", and I called out to the lion, "Leo...over here...Leo!"
Agree with Shadeed; Jackie's first film was "White Shadows in the South Seas", released 31 July 1928. (It was also his studio's first talkie.) He presided over MGM's black-and-white output until 1956.
why does the sound sound so segmented? For example, why does it sound like there is absolutely no sound whatsoever between each of the lion's roars? Sorry, it just seems like there would be some kind of sound, like maybe a little growl or something between the roars. It is almost as if the sound was pre recorded, but at the same time the lion IS roaring...so the sound must be coming from the lion, not pre recorded, right?
Jackie's roar was recorded after he made his first silent movie appearance. He had a totally different sounding roar (in at least some movies) until 1932.
This is so cool! Thanks for uploading! I didn't know Jackie was only used from 25-28, I'm gonna go change it on Wiki right now!

Sounds like Jackie's using his inside voice. :)

Jackie: I like roaring, but do I have to be dubbed by a stupid cougar?
Director: Yes, we didn't like your old roars.
Jackie: I wish I was in color.
Director: That's Coffee's job.

I love this one from the oldies, it's strange when he turns his head to right and then goes back all silent

the roar in this one is not actual jackie's roar, coz the real recording of jackie's roar sounded really bad
