Man, I do not think that the change of socity and technology want go on so fast like in the last 50-60 years. Take the technology or socity change between 1979 till 1996 which was huge and now take it between 2001 till 2011 wasn`t already that big anymore. Yeah, a woman in the kitchen cooking for her kids sure disgusts me. Wait, what? I think you've got it backwards. I HOPE 50 years from now we'll be disgusted by fragmented families and people just wandering completely lost in the world getting angry at injustices that aren't happening. No pain is wrought by a gay couple not being religiously "betrothed", I promise you this. @CuddlyBadger I think you're forgetting how important marriage is to some people. There are gay couples that want to marry, and not being able to do so brings them mental anguish. And as far as I know, there are legal differences between marriage and civil unions as well. Gays don't have the same rights straight people do, and that's wrong.

You are allowed to marry whenever you like, as long as you find a consenting partner of the opposite sex. I just think we should let same-sex couples to do the same. And as far as I know, ridiculously many states in the US don't allow same sex marriage or even civil union.
If you're so worried about your taxes, I say no-one should be allowed to get married! Everyone's unhappy!

I can only get "MARRIED" when I agree to divide my estate with a partner of the opposite sex, for the protection of a child which could ONLY result from that kind of union. Otherwise, why on EARTH would a woman merit an instant entitlement of my entire existence? Gays are NOT oppressed. That's an absolute lie. Anyone can have a contractual relationship.
That said, I'm all for abolishing marriage. It absolutely oppresses and robs men.

@CuddlyBadger No matter what your personal opinion is, you still have the permission to get married with a consenting partner of the opposite sex. Contractual relationships, as far as I know, don't have the same legal benefits/obligations as marriage, if any. You might not want to get married, but there are people who do want those benefits/obligations. What you are doing now is robbing gays having the same rights as you.

@LookieHippie When I lived in the SF Bay Area, I saw a LOT of gays robbing themselves of dignity. I never once saw anyone else do it to them. I know gays want a special legal status, so they should ask for it, but someone told them to ask for something they don't qualify for instead. This all got resolved in France, because in France, gays didn't try to use marriage to convince everyone that they were just as good as heterosexuals. That takes good, old-fashioned American egomania.

I suppose you think marriages should only be white with white and so forth? What you believe God intended and what you (or anyone) feel is acceptable sexually is a completely different issue from what the law should concern itself with.
