Let me defend Rios for a second, when I went to Toronto- he was great- signed a bat- signed for most of the people there that afternoon. I've seen a lot of people like the guy yelling at him in the background- and more than likely the kid was getting this autograph for either him or another guy hanging out in the area.

The story behind this is the guy telling him he is a bum is an autograph hound. he gets autographs, and sells them on ebay for money. thats what he does for a living, and alex rios knows who he is, so the guy asked a kid to go get the autograph for him, but rios was smart enough to know he was using the kid, and said no, so once the autograph hound knew he was busted, he started to mouth him off.

Let me defend Rios for a second, when I went to Toronto- he was great- signed a bat- signed for most of the people there that afternoon. I've seen a lot of people like the guy yelling at him in the background- and more than likely the kid was getting this autograph for either him or another guy hanging out in the area.

The story behind this is the guy telling him he is a bum is an autograph hound. he gets autographs, and sells them on ebay for money. thats what he does for a living, and alex rios knows who he is, so the guy asked a kid to go get the autograph for him, but rios was smart enough to know he was using the kid, and said no, so once the autograph hound knew he was busted, he started to mouth him off.

Rios shouldn't have acted like this--but neither should that other guy (it's just an autograph, teach your kid some manners and tell them that just because you ask someone for something doesn't mean they are entitled to give it to you).

Then the Bluejays should trade him. Bring him to the Mets, where he will be in the same lineup as Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, and David wright. The Bluejays suck anyway, he should go to a team who has potential and leave Canada. Once the Mets get healthy with him on the team-whether its this year or the next- he can feel what playing in a Playoff caliber team is like.

Actually the Blue Jays ARE in discussions with the Mets (sice Minaya only signs Latinos it seems) about a prospective Rios to New York deal. Fernando Martinez would be a nice swap for this overpaid loser. I've never seen such a disinterested piece of shit in my life other than Vernon Wells. Team killers.

Minaya doesn't have a Latino agenda. He's the general manager and his job is to assemble the best team possible, not sign Latino players just for being Latin. The Boston Redsox is mostly all white, and I dont feel they're organization might be racist..... Fernando Martinez will never be close to Alex Rios. I agree, he might be struggling, especially this season, but he is capable of great things. And maybe on a decent team he can come to his full self.

The Jays as a team have been very successful wins-wise. They would probably be the a multiple division champion in any other division in baseball but they're the unfortunate recipients of playing with two $200 million behemoths and an emerging Rays squad that stocked up on top three picks by sucking for a decade. What they need is to get rid of deadweight like Rios and Wells, players that aren't leaders, and allow the high-intensity guys like Hill and Rolen take over.
