JUST MISSED!!! "Comin' In And Out Of Your Life" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 16 weeks in the Top 100 in 1981/82, it entered the charts on Nov. 14th, 1981!!!
I don't even know if this is a real memory but I think first heard this song when my mom picked me up from school when I was 6 or 7. She had bought "Essential Barbra Streisand" and was playing it. I really recall that moment as the moment I fell in love with music.
This track was recorded in London at CBS studios in September 1981 . The arranger was David Cullen and the back up singers are Val Stokes, Lavinia Rodgers and Clare Torry . I think Andrew Lloyd Webber was co-producer.
This reminds me of how my mom was sick for so very long, so sick I got to the point that I actually wished my mom would go to bed one night and the next morning, she was gone, but now I think of that, I feel GUILTY AS HELL!!!!
@MRAWESOME2866 please don't feel guilty,...you were hoping to stop HER suffering.....it's our inherent ability to care soo deeply we want to take away our loved ones pain and suffering,...you were acting on her BEST interest!...you were acting.....human......and as far as I know!,....being human is what we have while we are here on mother earth!...we are doing what we were meant to do!
Been in love with her for what seems like my whole life; no one like her, has ever or will ever. When is the last time you noticed a song by a recording artist with ZERO dislikes? I never have. Streisand--Stellar---Sensational----Legendary
I read tarot cards for a living and she sums up in 4 minutes what takes me half an hour. This beautiful song sums up human nature in a heartbeat and I send even more credit to the writer as I do to the peerless Ms Striesand.. May God Bless both of them.
Lea Michelle from Glee seems to think that she's in Streisand's league simply because she has a big nose. She (Lea) tries to sing Don't Rain on My Parade and it's just annoying. Give it up kid. You don't have the chops.
The image to this video is one of my favourites of a superb, stunning vocalist. She is the ultimate artiste, with vocals rarely,if ever, heard anywhere else. She should come on prescription!
I'm sure that I am going to get a lot of flack for this, but I never really understood why Barbra Streisand was so admired/adored. I guess to all their personal tastes...
Too bad she is so arrogant and paranoid that she gets stadium employees fired if they stare at her. That pompous attitude of hers I don't like. As a singer she is at the top of her game tho. I was around 18 when this song came out. Now 29 years later, what has she done lately?
@excelsciors, and that is too bad, especially when getting and KEEPING a job these days can be so hard. Firing people for silly reasons is VERY heartless. How are ex-employees supposed to pay their bills? I am sure many do not care about that or them at all.
@excelsciors Didn't your parents ever teach you that " if you don't have anything good to say, just don't say anything at all"? Come on what's up your ass that you even felt the need to say something so negative? Get over yourself cause we could give a shit what you think.
a most beautiful song i also have it taped from the early 80's and I dare say that Jane Olivor is a few cuts above Barbara...but that does not diminish barbara in any way....
First of all let's just deal with the song itself....absolutely beautiful; touching and sentimental with a subtle production and arrangement. This is the kind of song that you can hear and when you're done you want to belt it out yourself and it would probably come out horrible because who can exude the control and passion at the same time as Streisand. She does a stellar job.....American Idol, eat her dust!!!!
@MegaTyler98 Intelligent review....I should have known it was yours. back in old vinyl days, I owned all of hers. Never could master CDs. I fell madly in love with her while watching The Way We Were.
This is one of her best, her voice is at its peak, I recorded this song when it was released in the 80's .on CASSETTE TAPE YES THAT'S WHAT I SAID. I still have it this day. YOU GO BABS
No one has ever, doesn't now, and never will, equal this amazing lady. My other love, SADE, is also an incredible talent and lady, but in a different genre; therefore they really can't, or shouldn't be compared. Barbra was a "speech class" project of mine when I was a senior in high school; and that began my life-long devotion to her. I still, after all these years, have not been able to watch "The Way We Were," a second time, because of the way it ends.
Grew up in the late 70's and 80's listening to the album 'wet', being born 73, never knew how true to life the words in the songs are. Love my husband to bits but there are times I really would want to knock his block off.
Ya know it has become more and more clear to me that some people just do not know what good music is. This woman was an amazing singer for her time.
