It was a tradition in the AWA that longtime heels would have a face turn and retire as a face, so the crowd could give the former heel the adulation he deserved for a worthy career. See also: Ray Stevens, Baron Von Raschke, Blackjack Lanza, etc.

@veronicanmike Well, they did release "The History of The AWA" a couple of years ago. If you haven't seen that yet, along with an hour and a half or so story about the AWA history, it's got some good matches on there.

Surefoot1970, I'm not complaining at all, but why is the 1st half of this match avalible in "high quality," but not the 2nd half? Thanks for the great AWA posts, I've been hoping that someone would upload these shows since my cable system doesn't offer ESPN Classics.

I dont know why some vids are available in HQ and others arent. Must be a Youtube thing. All my vids are uploaded at 640x480 @1M bitrate.
