I love this cover bro. It melts my heart away every time. I actually based a song of my own on Midna's Desperate Hour after I heard you play it. Also, I LOVE your sliding.
I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever seen anyone play guitar with a bottle ._. But it certainly does add an interesting effect to the sound.
@WileySniper The picking pattern for the little arpeggio at the beginning when it goes up is basically all down picks, except for the last note. When it goes down again it's down, up, down, up, down, down. Feel free to use your own pattern though if that feels better. As for the playing pattern, you should take a look at the tab which you can download from my website: CSGuitar89. com. Good luck!
@WileySniper It's practice indeed but also dedication ;) Practice really is the only way to get better at anything though and (maybe unfortunately) it takes a lot of time...
It was good, but I disagree with the "warped" notes at the beginning. They were unnecessary..this is a sad song and should have flat notes. other than that, I enjoyed the vcover!
@MrJstone2000 My digital audio workstation (DAW) with which I record everything is GarageBand. Furthermore I use POD Farm to create my guitar tone and EZdrummer to program the percussion tracks. Oh and I edit my videos in iMovie HD.
@randomstuff147 You can find all the guitars I used in the description. As for the effects, I record directly so I don't use any 'real' pedals. Instead I use Line 6' POD Farm, an amp simulation plugin, to create my guitar tones. Anyway, in this video I used compression, some reverb, delay and distortion/overdrive for the lead guitars.
I don't wanna bug you or anything with this, but could you do a tutorial with the lead guitar? I'm a 16 year old girl with a guitar that doesn't know how to tune it the way you did, I don't know how to read tabs and I have trouble following your picking and fingers on the video. This is my very first time playing a guitar, so I need a lot of help with this. Please help?
@GangreenGangBunny123 but....tabs are specifically meant for beginners! haha. it shows the 6 strings and the frets to push down on. you literally cant get any easier than that xP
@GangreenGangBunny123 I can definitely see how a video tutorial can be useful, but unfortunately at the moment I don't really have the time to make those and rather work on new material. I just hope that with the tabs, mp3s and backing tracks people will be able to learn it. I would strongly recommend to learn how to read tabs though since it'll make it a lot easier to learn songs and improve your playing. I'm sure that you can find some great tutorials on Google. Hope this helps :)
@CSGuitar89 Thanks, I hope I do find something that will help me learn how to play guitar, read tabs and play this song. But if you someday can find the time to make a tutorial, that'd be great too.
@GangreenGangBunny123 I actually recently learned to play this with the tabs posted on his website, and some help from the guy I take lessons from. Just take it one small step at a time and practice little bits, you dont even have to play it sliding, just do regular strums first. If you don't know how to read tabs I would definately reccomend trying to find a place to take lessons, it can really help in a big way.
Im guessing you have been playing for a while, im just wondering do you have any formal training in theory or ear training? Or do you just pick it up along the way?
@superoboe300 For the first 1,5 years I took lessons and I did study some theory although at that time I wasn't really skilled enough to go in depth on that. Most of it is just a lot of experience, training and getting to know the fretboard :)
@Shaneman2031 I always figure all the leads and about 75% of the rhythms out by ear because it's a great way to improve yourself as a musician. For fast parts or tracks that are difficult to hear, I use either sheet music or a midi.
@DobermanSouth Haha, well I do turn up the volume of the bass fairly high, but for some reason it doesn't really stand out in the overal mix. Could be my tone or playing, although I kind of like the fact that it becomes part of the rhythm tone and creates a nice solid backing track. In my more recent videos I worked on my bass tone to try to make it more audible.
@trogdor526 Yeah, indeed just a lot of practice ;) When you want to improve your accuracy though, it's important to pick a certain piece or passage that you have problems with, use a metronome and start off slow and gradually speed it up when you can play it clean. Hope that helps.
@CSGuitar89 as my guitar teacher all the greats were amazing slow players as they were fast players take away all of the effects on guitar players today and ask them to play slow see how much they screw up take things slow then go fast
Quick question, would you recommend the Cort Z44? I've actually been considering getting one for the longest time, but I'm still a bit iffy on my decision.
@cavedweller1996 Thanks! Oh yeah I can definitely recommend the Cort. It's a really great guitar that's also pretty affordable. Both the sound and the build quality are amazing, so yeah if you're looking for a versatile guitar you should consider the Z44.
hi, I've got a question and I know it's hard for you to answer every single question, but in case you have the time, here it is: you seem to be experienced in recording and I have a problem: I want to record my western guitar Cort SFX-5 using the toneport line 6 ux2(with ableton live), but the high notes sound.. really like shit. they are too quiet and if I use a compressor to make it louder, they sound even worse, like a high shredding. do you have any idea why? btw great intonation
I swear, your songs are pure awesomeness!
