  • why does everyone always choose Aurica? she makes me think Haruka Shimotsuki is the main hymnous singer. It turns out to be Akiko Shikata

  • ~Aurica =:::)

  • i loved the first Ar Tonelico, but the second game didn't quite hit the same cord with me.

  • @decusq same here..i also didn't like the inability to jump..

  • @MultiCrossBlade The Anime is "Meh" at most. It's only like 3 or 4 episodes long, and it takes place just hours before the start of the game. Nothing really interesting.

  • @Kumori001 I thought there was 1 OVA, where did these other 3 or 4 come in?

  • i want the anime :'(

  • i miss playing this game! omg.

  • I love songs like this.. Umineko :|

  • misha=the best

  • @NinjaFoo777 yess! Agree! :D

  • Is this game came out in France too?

  • I want ar tonelico online .....

  • @BlackSpherez That actually sounds very sweet. I would play that.

  • Why games like this are so underrated!?

    I just don't get it.

    This game has everyting:HISTORY,SOUNDTRACK,ETC..

  • You're so right about this. I couldn't agree more.

  • @Saofeng19 I liked the game, but to be fair the gameplay is a bit bland. All you gotta do is hit and hit while the Revs charge songs. It's pretty easy too.

  • @Saofeng19 Well... It lacks ultramodern superstunning 3D graphics. And nowadays few care about plot and characters.

  • @Saofeng19 It is just like one of those little jewels that are so beautiful but as they are small not so much see them

  • My favorite video game in the world.

  • I've only played the third one, honestly. But now I really want to play 1 & 2, given how awesome the third one was.

  • Despite the cute and laid-back exterior it gives off, the game is pretty deep and life changing. It's sad to see people not take the game seriously because it has a few JRPG niche elements to it. Not once have I've played a video game that made me sit back and take the time to reflect on the story itself. And this pertains to all three games. GUST definitely created a keeper.

  • i freaken love that beginning part!!!! that first 7 seconds is more than enough to set me up to play the game.

  • omg this reminded me of the old PS2 days .. wonderful ^^

  • Misha <3

  • The 1st Ar Tonelico will always remain my most favorite of the three.

It had good gameplay and a good story.

Also, Aurica is my most favorite Reyvateil of all the games. ^-^

  • Does this song remind anyone else of the Umineko No Naku Koro Ni opening.

  • @AuskaNeumaki same singer

  • @AuskaNeumaki Same singer.

  • why is this so similar to atelier iris eternal mana's opening? X_X

  • @TheTimaryArt from same company see that boy n girl statue? they look like Iris and her knight

  • I love this series. The sprites are well done, the back grounds beautiful, and the character voices done well in Japanese and English. And my GOD, the music. even going past that, each game has a unique battle system that makes combat interesting. After playing all three games, I can safely say that this series will be locked in my top 10 video game series of all time at number 2. Gust and many other JRPG game makers deserve more credit, making great games with little funds.

  • Gust has crafted a giant fantasy world that makes you sad to leave, and makes you look forward to the next time you pick up your controller. The world absorbs you, bringing you into a realm of songs, magic, adventure, romance, and even heart-break. I'm currently playing through the second, going for the Mir ending this time, and it surprises me how lifelike the characters seem. during Ms. Reisha's big part, I literally cried. And Luca doesn't brood, but moves on with the memory in her heart.

  • The characters react believable, and that's something that many of these "new RPGs" Don't have. When playing FF13, I didn't feel a link to any of the characters, and the most emotional reaction I had was yelling at hope to stop being a pansy and let it go! The characters in Ar Tonelico have shocking amounts of depth, and make me want to know them better. That, my friends, is a sign of a great RPG, and a great video game.

  • lmao this sounds like a shikata akiko's song .....

  • @CrownChanel That's because it is...she's one of the main singers in all 3 ar tonelico games

  • @LelouchRika really ? i guessed it right WOOO

  • @CrownChanel

That is because it is XD

  • Second game doesn't compare to the first! <3 Misha and Lyner are awesome! ^_^

  • I want 1024p HD sound!!

  • I haven't played any Ar Tonelico games, and I only heard about them for a year. I really hope this game would be right there with the 1st Atelier Iris, which I loved so much out of most NIS games.

  • well since I already got ar tonelico 2 then I MUST BUY THIS!!!!!

  • best in series!!! brings good memories!!!

  • It's a toss up between the Ultimate Diver vs. The man that confessed to Mir

  • I luv Lyner! I wish he was the HERO on the other Ar Tonelico games!!! Wa!!

  • @casey400 Eh, Croix was WAY cooler.

  • @dobadobadooo dont know... haha just like Lyner :3

  • @EsperTinaVI Try it, man! You're going to freaking love it!

  • The blonde dude looks like Cless from Tales of Phantasia. I think I'ma try this game.

  • Ar Tonelico & Mana Khemia Series- best jRPG from GUST ;)

  • I love GUST !!!

  • AT's Logo

    I - Aurica??

    II -Frelia

    III -Tilia

  • @johanzxxx This is right.

  • Final Fantasy 7 is overrated. I prefer FF6.

  • This song is so Great ^^

btw i cant defeat the last virus in the end of the game :(

  • Ar Tonelico 1: Best Opening

Ar Tonelico 2: Best characters, story, and gameplay

Ar Tonelico 3: Nothing, it sucks compared to 1 & 2.

  • @dobadobadooo One word: MUSIC

  • Really, is FF7 great? -_-"

FF is Final Fantasy or what?

for me, the greatest RPG that I have played was Ar Tonelico. Both AR Tonelico 1 and 2

  • I just got this game today, which I ordered from amazon.com. I began playing as soon as possible and I love it. Ironically, I got Ar Tonelico 2 before this one. Frankly, and no offense, I prefer the second opening to this one. I still love this one though, and don't have any preference over the games, just the openings. Unfortunately, I cannot play the third game coming out next month because I don't own the PS3. D:

  • I like this song mainly because it's sung in an "original" language (just like Shadow of the Colossus dialogues) giving this game an unique identity.

  • I have a good idea that this song makes US government put the song of state.

  • wel 2 all AT fans:) im a AT fan 2 BUT also a FF freak.u know the difference between FF7 and AT comparement is,that FF7(1997) has come out,10- years earlier then AT(2007).so its comparement in the way like 90's RnB with 2days crap music(with certain nice songs stil) but in 1997 when FF7 came out,it opened a whole new area of sight.and in those times.cause the gamemakin werent so nice as 2day.so in 2011 our quality in 2days game world raised like what?10000%.wich makes AT still a wlc masterpiece

  • why is ar tonelico not available for the wii it's practically perfect for the console

  • These Gust games are really entertaining but I did sometimes think that the Ar Tonelico series seemed a little too much like a dating sim. Which for me, isn't really a bad thing, it was fun to watch but usually I'm more concerned about the main story than which girl Lyner will end up with.

  • @ShinMegamiFreak Ar Tonelico is a dating sim series but with just even more RPG gameplay as well. Just the only difference is that there is no PC visual novel of it.

  • yep, i am playing part one right now. m done with part 2. waiting to buy ps3 so I can buy part 3 heheheh. i love shurelia, mir and part 3? don't know yet :D

  • OMG I LOVED THIS GAME~ So good, haha xD

It had such a simple storyline, which focused on character development, rather than some stupid overly convoluted plot... like most RPGs...

  • loved this game!

  • Love Ar Tonelico!!

    Love all RPGS by GUST!

    Love Cloche!

    Love Cocona!!D:<

  • @Tr3s3ntos O:<

  • @Tr3s3ntos why not luca :3

  • @Tr3s3ntos Except Closhe and Cocona are in AT2. But Aurica, Misha and Shurelia are nice also.

  • Just started playing this game and so far it's pretty cool. My only complaint is that the game sometimes freezes for a split second. The is especially prevalent on the world map screen. Then again this should be expected because any game with an NIS logo on it is bound to lack polish to some degree. This game is still pretty sweet nonetheless but it's not as good as the the Persona games. Of course, this is only my personal opinion.

  • I like Final Fantasy VII, don't get me wrong. I just happen to like the Ar Tonelico Series a heck of a lot better!

  • God why couldn't the second one have been as good as the first one was

  • the girl at the statue remind me with Iris

    Cameo?

  • This song reminds me of the opening them for Atelier Iris Eternal Mana. *U*

  • @Nyazicles Well, the same people did it so...

  • kinda reminded me to final fantasy and...pokemon

  • @ItsOverNineThousnd Now I'm suprised and all so curious. What exactly of this game remindes you to pokemon? This game as nothing to do with catching monster, so how do you come to this conclusion? .

  • @Hentaifreak1 well 0:16 - 0:22 how those lines loock like remindet me of kyorgre groudon palkia and dialga...and 0:50 - 0:52 looked like lugias shadow....

  • @ItsOverNineThousnd XD okay, but only a pokemonfreak with big imagination could see something like that. Jemand wie ich der kein Pokemon schaut fällt so etwas nicht auf. Musste erstmal googlen um zu verstehen was du meinst, also...okay.

  • Many of the RPG Maniac are FF Fans, why don't they try to play another game???

  • Is there a full version of this song?

  • Muy buen juego, tiene una historia bastante original :P

    Ja ne!!

  • Seriously, my favorite part of this opening is at 1:22 ... I just LOVE when the jingling bells start up for some reason. xD

  • I like it when someone said "Ar Tonelico"

  • If you want to hear something epic start this, than three seconds later start the second opening, and three seconds after that start the new third opening.

  • pretty much underrated but I love this game especially the music

  • I heard that the graphics in the opening and gameplay are VERY different. That's quite saddening to me but.... since I heard about it having such a great story, I might play it.

  • Easily one of my favorite games ever.

  • nice game tat i ply.... the song is nice in the game... especially when misha sung the chronicle song (if i'm not remember wrong la)......

  • also any idea what the name of this song is???

  • @hakanaku38 The song's name is Singing Hill. It's essentially the Ar Tonelico theme song, as the opening song for Ar Tonelico 2 is a remixed version called Singing Hill - Harmonics FRELIA -

  • @hakanaku38 It's Singing Hill ~EOLIA~

  • i love this game ever since my brother brought it down i havent been able to get it out of my mind and ive been going crazy trying to get here in canada its almost impossible to get this game

  • Just putting a question out here:

If I'm interested in making a minimal money, is it fine if I start with ar tonelico 2?

Or is it a better idea to start with the first one and decide whether to buy the second based on that?

  • @killifish2000 yeah you could start off with ar tonelico 2, but there are some moments that you have to play ar tonelico 1 to find out. honestly you can still play ar tonelico 2 first. in my opinion you can just watch videos of ar tonelico 1 to find out. so yeah go for playing ar tonelico 2 because it makes you want to play one even more.

  • Seriously is there a Gust/NIS game who's opening music isn't awesome? I'm not talking about the visuals, just the music.

  • Thank you! XD

  • is this also an anime?

  • Yes , it has an anime. Much like Tales series have the tendency to have one every now and then.

  • Although the anime consists of one episode. But video game-based animes have been known to do that every now and then.

  • i wished i had this game.T^T but i have number 2.

  • I knew it!!! i heard Umineko's opening, and came back to hear the opening to confirm it.

    love it.

Great game, and great music (that lately has been not so good in some games). I specially loved this anim- ...err game's hymnos ... and Misha!!! >¦3

  • Playing this game right now. Friggin' awesome.

  • i hope theyll do a translation for artonelico 2 and 3... (can anione tell me if it will hapen?)

  • only game i have played that moves around music but does not have you play any ^^

  • i love the soundtrack <3

  • I was playing this game in junior high..

but I still love this game so much until now...

This is a most wonderfull RPG game that I ever played in my life XD

  • hmm....any1 knows wat is the name of the music? :P But the game...I enjoy it XD Some of the characters r even in the PS3 Game called Cross X Edge.

  • The song is called, expressive hills.

    i think by Akiko Shikata

    :D

  • she does the best stuff.

I love everything she did for the Umineko soundtrack.

  • Not that it's bad on the PS2, but i kinda think it would have done better if they realeased it on the PSP. That way people wouldn't rat on its graphics and whatnot so much. Maybe they'll still end up porting it? I'd like to see that.

  • Ah, The memories. ^^

  • hmm this song was sang by Shikata Akiko who sang the OP song for Umineko No Koro Ni right =D,her voice is really somewhat awesome!!!

  • this doesn't seem as good as the star ocean remakes on the psp

  • this game focused more on the visual novel part and much less on the gameplay in my opinion.

  • Hey, is this game better than the first one?

I know they're different stories, but I want to play them and I don't know where to start, lol.

  • i thought this was the first one o.O

  • Oh oops, I meant the second one... lol

  • I prefer the first one to the second, but it's hard to be objective.

  • this is the first one

  • what's the point comparing the game which have different theme? they may be RPG but most of them have a lot different in detail...

  • Because a lot of people are overly obsessed with FF7 that it's ridiculous. Like sometimes when I start a conversation about RPGs with someone like almost everytime the person i'm talking to always has to mention FF7. Like I will say Ar Tonelico is a really great RPG you should try it out and then responses I get like are well I like Final Fantasy better. In other words FF is over-rated and Ar Tonelico is under-rated which is quite sad.

  • @edtifa Someone once asked me "lol why the hell does it have SNES graphics?" I raged.

  • @edtifa i agree completely. the final fantasy series is good, no denying that, but its not all there is in the world. never played Ar tonelico, i love the music but cant afford the game. however, im a big fan of a game series called "suikoden" which is also, like ar tonelico, under-rated. i get blank looks when i mention it, then people shrug it off and continue on about final fantasy. discussing RPG's these days is a chore, it seems.

  • @edtifa i like final fantasy but it IS over done a bit i like the originallity of ar tonelico and mana kehmia. Of course i also play chulip so my taste in games are a bit scatter brained. Anything with descent animation and a good story line i'll play thou. any recomendations are welcomed ^_^

  • @edtifa It's always like this. There's a wonderful rpg on the gba called Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2. Well, everytime there's someone that has to say: FF is better. And then this n00b quotes the worst FF titles...

  • @edtifa I'll have you know, it's overrated because it's brilliant.

I mean, I won't ignore the fact that people are idiots to randomly bring it up and give it a godlike status in their head, but there's a REASON why people are constantly giving it a godlike status. Because it's good.

I haven't actually played Ar Tonelico (I came here to see if I should get it,) and I don't know how good or bad it is, but Final Fantasy 7 is pretty srsbsns, no matter how much you deny it D:

  • @Blade5468 I'm not really saying that any Final Fantasy sucks(even though I hated Final Fantasy XII) but just saying that there's also plenty of other good JRPGs that need to be recognized besides like FF7 like for instance Ar tonelico for a good example. All 3 Ar tonelico games are amazing and I especially love the last 2 games and plus the 1st game is quite good too. Plus the music is great as well.

  • @edtifa No, no, I completely agree that there are lots of other RPG's that should be recognized and that FF7 shouldn't get ALL the credit, the only thing I'm saying is that it DOES deserve some credit, and just because it gets too much it doesn't mean it doesn't deserve quite a large bit of the credit it gets.

Don't get me wrong though, I get that lots of things are amazing, I just don't get why people hate on FF7 just for the fact that it's liked by people. People like it because it's good.

  • @edtifa i am a fan of the ff series, but i find ar tonelico fun and interesting, its story is good too, but nowadays people look on the graphics and bash it too much, hell, if its graphics that they want, why don't they just go watch a CGI movie or something, because to me, story > graphics

  • @Robant100 Yeah well for those people I say, if you want excellent graphics in JRPGs, then why don't you give the companies that make them like a a million dollars. Like look at Final Fantasy XIII, Square used a lot of money for those pretty graphics and all of those nice looking animated cutscenes. But Gust, NIS, Idea Factory, and any other JRPG company is considered niche. It's a miracle just to have their games in HD at all.

  • @edtifa and also those graphics fanatics can't even think that if companies put more and more graphics on to the game, the game will be damn shorter or lesser in gameplay

  • @edtifa not really, i think its progression, i mean they're niche but if it wasn't in HD on the ps3 they would have even fewer sale, or have to rely on gimmicks eg. disgaea humor

  • @edtifa

Umm no.I don't think so.FF and AT are no where near each other. Each one has its own unique style and story.I like BOTH of them.

  • @SoulslayerAbad Well don't mean like you but well what i'm getting at is, Final Fantasy is good and all, but its like a lot of people play all of these Final Fantasy games and get obsessed with them especially with like FF7 and just ignore Ar tonelico's existence. So basically it's fine to play a FF game, but there's other JRPGs out on the market that are also quite good like all 3 Ar tonelico games, Tales, Atelier series, and many others that need some love too.

  • @edtifa Even though the only RPG ive played is FF and kingdom hearts i would never say that FF is better than anything i haven't tried. and i have to admit this looks great :) do you know what platforms you can get it on?

  • @kazbob24 1st 2 games of Ar Tonelico are only on PS2, but the 3rd game made the jump to PS3 with non turn-based gameplay with being all real-time action while the 1st 2 were turn-based and also 3D character designs in battles in the 3rd game. The 3rd game is also getting an American release on March 15th but with a Mature rating because of more innuendo than the previous games and also because of like how the Reyvateils lose their clothing during battle.

  • @edtifa thankyou (shame though i only have x-box and nintendo DS :(

  • @edtifa If it makes you feel better, i really like FF, but i hate FF7.

  • hes the same for Xenogears, >.< but is ar tonelico for wich platform? i wanted to play it the 2 and the 3 too xD it seems to be a really nice game

  • @DVProductionHD Ar tonelico 1 and 2 are both on PS2. Ar tonelico III or as we know it in America as Ar tonelico Qoga is on PS3 which is coming out March 15th(my 23rd birthday) and with a Mature rating. The PS2 games were rated Teen.

  • @edtifa I know what you mean. It is over-rated. But it is, nonetheless, a good series. Ratings don't really matter as much as the game itself, in a way. I'm not overly obsessed with FFVII, but it is one of my favorite FF. Along with 6, 10, and 8. You can tell FF is going down the tubes though. Starting with X-2 and XII and such. Every game after those were not nearly as good as the older classics. IX was a pretty good one too. Despite the odd characters. =P

  • I haven't played this game, but I'll say this much about the theme.... the choir parts at the beginning straight up give me shivers.

  • can people jump off ff7's cock already, yea it was a good game during it's time but it's archaic, you can't go comparing rpgs now with ff7, and if I did I can name so many more rpgs that were WAAAAY that came out around FF7's time that are better than ff7, besides you can't compare AT to ff7 this game is based off an anime OVA this is a godamn good game to be based off an anime. and yea FF6 was better, Vagrant stories, Legend of dragoon, persona 1 and 2. I can keep going with this

  • Wrong in one thing: the Ar tonelico game came first and the OVA was only a byproduct of it (it came out around six months after the game).

  • Can't agree more on this, a lot of people are still on FF7. I'm not saying it's a bad game at all, but i can't understand either why keeping on it, or comparing other games to it so badly. There exist tons of rpg and on my view FF7 is by far not the best i played. Shall it be by character, time of playing, greatness of the story or even by the little details.

  • i lvoe this game cuz it shows relationaship wiht your friends, with your LOVE...love the reyvateils...to much love triangles.........like it

  • may i just add in that AT came out wayyyyyyyyyyy after FF VII came along? dont compair older games with ps2 ones, if you like FF series thats for you, there are alot of people who play this game just for the fantastic game play including the music, while on the otherhand FF didnt really come with great music exception of half winged angel theme. unless they make FF 7 into a new game its going to be half assed shitty graphic game as long as rest of my memory exists

  • In terms of gameplay/mechanics, I totally agree that the final fantasy games are superior to AT.

I am one of those who judge games based on their characters and storyline, in which case AT wins. No other series that has gone to such a supreme effort to develop their characters' personalities, and address a truly realistic relationship scenario. In other words, the party getting along isn't automatic or easy.

It's little things like these and so much more that truly attract me to the AT series.

  • I need to get this first one, if for no other reason than to finally understand all of jacqli's subliminal messages referring to this one.

I liked both games' animations, and as for AT 2's story's complexity, well, harder to "get" is better for me.

By the way, why do so many people seem to like ff7? It wasn't nearly as good as 6, and the ar Tonelico games have Final fantasy beaten in my book.

    Sorry.

  • AT 2 was good, but, to me, the first one was better. Also, the AT games have NOTHING on FF VII, I'm sorry. :P The first AT had a better opening, in terms of the song, but AT 2 has a better opening animation.

  • o.o I'm playing ar tonelico 2 right now, and it's my favorite rpg since final fantasy 10, how good is the first one compared to the 2nd?
