I couldn't have possibly recorded this video on an old computer with next to no RAM with way too many applications running, causing hiccups in the audio. Thanks for enlightening me. I would love some closure, though. Now that I know that I am, in fact, NOT the person playing this solo, perhaps you could point me to a source recording so I can apologize to the player that is.

@DivebombJ don't worry dude, i know you are playing it, and it is one of the cleanest covers of it I've seen on youtube so far...anyways, i think why he thought that is because during @ 0:23 thru 0:27 those patterns you play you have your index finger grounded (on the g string) where as the way i play it I begin the segment with my middle finger having my index finger grounded on the b string. but yeah, TheJCFan is an idiot, no need to worry

But your point you made about WHICH FINGER DivebombJ starts his (0:23) phrase at, is just a MATTER-OF-CHOICE?!? From what you've said, you choose to stay "in-6th-position," for that first lick, whereas DivebombJ chose to change-positions, leading with his index finger.

BTW, he does the same thing on the Amaj(2nd-lick) and Bmaj(5th-lick) arpeggios too!

Yes, you play it the best way (least errors) FOR YOU! DivebomberJ MADE NO ERRORS! That's my point, that when covering a solo note-for-note, the "note-choices" are either RIGHT or WRONG! Whereas fingering is just a matter-of-choice. BTW, there is plenty of merit to the way you play it, as it's more efficient ("hand-motion-wise.") However, it is also typical to play such figures whilst leading with the index-finger. In fact, I checked, and Nuno plays it IDENTICALLY to DivebomberJ!

Hey ya know what?...Theory is NO SUBSTITUTE for chops! I know LOTS of theory, and yet I struggle with my technique ;( Sometimes I wish I could trade everything I know for the ability to play like you or DivebomberJ - or Nuno of course!)

I'll tell you what - You learn more about theory, and I'll try to spend a couple more hours a day on my technique, and then we'll BOTH be better off - LOL!

@billmeedog I'm loving this conversation. I did use my index finger there, it's very comfortable. I tried playing it starting off on the middle finger and it seemed very unnatural. That's probably poor technique on my part but fuck it, I'm a rocker.

BTW, it's NOT poor technique to shift-positions with your index-finger! As I explained to 2020TRAP, fingerings are just a matter of personal preference!

BTW, I told him how you do it exactly as Nuno does (by shifting the index-finger!)

For what it's worth, I've taught this solo to several students (I slowed-it-down and REALLY KNOW it, but I can only play it at about 85%-90% speed though!) and I play it leading with my index-finger also!

@skidara It's helpful to know the chords you're playing over. Nuno just arpeggiates those chords but the notes aren't swept. You're going to alternate pick between the G and the high-E string. If you're not too fluent with string-skipping, grab the tab and practice picking the pattern without fingering the notes in the left hand.

It's actually a KV2, not a Randy model. Same applies somewhat, although the lower horn on the RR is a lot smaller. Just clench the lower horn between the legs. And no, there's no better way to word that.

Yes sir. Actually, Extreme recorded the song in Eb but I didn't feel like tuning down my guitar for the sake of being a purist. I also changed the melody in the opening pedal point sequence a bit too. The rest of the solo is right I think, but I played the opening a little differently for various reasons.
