  • have done just a tiny bit of armoring but nothing advanced.

So I have been siting here pondering and pondering what to do with an old helm that no longer fits. My head apparently has swelled and it is too much a squeeze to pull it over my head.

I came across this video and the steps on making hinges were so clear that I went into the garage and equipped with the basic concepts from this master armorer... I hinged my helm!

    Excellent video and thanks!

  • 1:35 ouch!!!

  • Fantastico!!!!

  • thanks you very much

  • I never get tired of watching these armor fabrication videos, mostly because they're so rare.

  • amazing

but you hit your thumb =P

  • Phenomenal work...afterthought: Why does the hinge making remind me of Schindler's List?

  • the music?

  • i was just going to go out and buy some hinges for the vambraces im almost done with but now that i see you making your own i think il do the same

  • What song is this?

  • My God. I wish I had more time :( But my high school is a nightmare. and i get only three's two's and one's.. sometimes 5/4

  • what are the main materials used? what is the gauge of steel that is used?

  • I use 18g cold roll steel for this hinges.

  • i always thought they used leather straps as hinges, but now i know =) thanx and i hope your finger feels better nowXD

  • I wondered how to make hinges!! This was an excellent learning tool for me. Thank you, once again.

  • nice your good!

  • you didnt include in this video how did you cut the hinges in shape you just showed them ready How did you do that?

  • I cut them roughly on the band saw and finished with a file.

  • Your skill brings me both joy and pain. Joy in the hopes that one day I'll be able to do something so great, and pain in the fact that I don't have room for a proper forge...

  • do what I do

make roman armour such as the famous lorica segmentata

It requires no bowling, just bending and some optional rolling. lol that rhymes

  • Great.I am medieval reenactor and I can tell that this stuff you make is very high quality!

  • Prowd Europeen handcraft that soon will be just for the few as a hobby all the time we outsource all craftsmanship. Good work mister. Its always nice to see good handcraft in action.

  • Perfect

  • You don't see that everyday.
