The reason the Timber Wolf is called a Madcat is because when their targeting computers first pinged it, pilots couldn't make out whether or not it was a maraduer or catapault, since it's similar to both designs. So they mashed the words together and Viola, Madcat. The Kuritans named the Direwolf the Daishi, which in Japanese means "Great Death" and they called the Mad Dog a Vulture because it would normally sit on the hills surrounding the battle picking off targets with it's long range weapons

Was it really? I didn't know they'd made a DOS version. I highly doubt it would run on Vista though or I'd play it just for fun. I regularly go back and play old games that I have, sadly things like Return to Zork and Wing Commander (2 or 3 I think) don't like to run now.
In short range it's unmatched, no doubt. But rarely will an atlas be close enough to anything to fight back. 3/5 speed with an effective range of 6 is just waiting to be killed by any 25 tonner with a ER L laser. Some of the variants aren't too bad, bud AS7-D is possibly the absolute worst design for the cost.
A 25 ton 'Mech wouldn't do much damage, unless it was part of a unit, considering the Atlas has massive amounts of armour. An Aero Fighter on the other hand would be the best weapon.
Mechstorm is making a mod on the crysis game devoted to mechwarrior and Mektek has there 4th mod coming out soon for mw4 mercenaries. both will be great.
If they were going to make a great mech game it would have to include lasers. The whole idea of mechs is based in the 30th century so your idea of realistic is based upon your knowledge of current weaponry and not what the future will hold and lasers, particle projectile cannons etc. are all part of the Mechwarrior saga. Leaving them out would be ridding the series of a key organ.

The gladiator I used was like a knife figter, 3 clan LBX 20's and the rest in the armour, In my prime, (When I was good), I could take most mechs down in 1 or 2 shots after I closed in

Personally, I find the Marauder 2 Chassis to be most reliable. Guess I just remember back to MW2 and the Marauder IIC chassis, which I used almost as much as the Dire Wolf, which is known now as the Daishi.
Daishi was the Inner Sphere name, Dire Wolf the Clan name. All the original Clan mechs have that dual designation (i.e. Vulture/Mad Dog, Thor/Summoner, etc.)
Marauder is always a badass, whether it be I, II, or IIC.
Fafnir. What was that? Heavy armor? Fast movement? Shazam. Instant hit, massive damage. Goodnight Irene.
Dire Wolf/Daishi are the same mech, and the nomeclature is con-current. Daishi is just the Inner Sphere term for it. Dire Wolf is the true name. The name on the blueprints.
Daishi means "Great Death". Masakari (Warhawk) means "Little Death". Or so I'm told.
The problem of those chassis is that they tend to overheat really fast, sure you may give them an immense firepower, but I feel something wrong about a mech that has 3 erppcs and like 35 heatsinks. I rather go with autocannons. The new Thanatos XT is a hell of a machine considering it' weight.
Yet the only mech I could not redesign better than the standart version is the Hellbringer, just awesome considering it's weight.
Theres just something bout trudging into battle in 90 tons of hardened aloys. Fuck Gundam and all the gay ass jap shit man. mechs were piloted by solders and clansmen, not prepubescent school boys with retarded hair. Honda Made Aisimo, GM should make an timber wolf!

Actually, I'm perty shore it's on one of the MW4 CDs (gameplay soundtrack). If yer diggin it I'd really recommend you pick-up the original Mech2 Mercs (eBay) - the Mech2 titles all had kick ass soundtracks.
I like the american mech arsenal a lot better than the crappy japanese stuff. I mean they have freaking little robots with tiny laser swords, over sized guns that don't even make sense, and sheilds WTF? Our mechs have large Guass rifles, machine guns, auto cannons, pulse lasers, beam rifles ( normal lasers) short range missles and long range missles. I think we've won the better mechs.
japanese robots arent tiny. an average gundam would haved squashed a mech under it toe before the mech even noticed. japanese mechs are far more powerful but i prefer american mechs for their realism.
mektek is a site devoted to keeping mechwarrior alive. There's a devteam as the site admins of sorts, and they created the mektek mekpaks, which is basically a third-party mod that everyone who plays mw4 mercs uses. They also host a main server for all the servers to be shown on. Basically when microsoft said screw mechwarrior mektek refused to let it happen.
I would like 2 see when the producers of Transformers would help 2 create the movie of this game. They have so much experience with Mechs and how it looks like when they get a smooth moving animation and the whole details they could implant... this would be awesome btw nice vid ^^

I prefer a mech that has long range missiles equipped for combat, and more speed, like a Firefly, or a Catapult.

Actually, I'm perty shore it's on one of the MW4 CDs (gameplay soundtrack). If yer diggin it I'd really recommend you pick-up the original Mech2 Mercs (eBay) - the Mech2 titles all had kick ass soundtracks.

I like the american mech arsenal a lot better than the crappy japanese stuff. I mean they have freaking little robots with tiny laser swords, over sized guns that don't even make sense, and sheilds WTF? Our mechs have large Guass rifles, machine guns, auto cannons, pulse lasers, beam rifles ( normal lasers) short range missles and long range missles. I think we've won the better mechs.

japanese robots arent tiny. an average gundam would haved squashed a mech under it toe before the mech even noticed. japanese mechs are far more powerful but i prefer american mechs for their realism.

mektek is a site devoted to keeping mechwarrior alive. There's a devteam as the site admins of sorts, and they created the mektek mekpaks, which is basically a third-party mod that everyone who plays mw4 mercs uses. They also host a main server for all the servers to be shown on. Basically when microsoft said screw mechwarrior mektek refused to let it happen.
