I never did findout what happened at the end of this series. Funny, on this show was the first time I ever saw an Asian woman. 1970's were hilarious, I still remember at Heffron pool Eastern Sydney, an Anglo-saxon man telling me and my five year old sister that she was the MOST beautiful Chinese girl (or any other type of asian) he had ever seen. Which was odd to us because we had never seen one either until 1979. Just because you got straight brown-black hair doesn't mean jack.
I woke up the other morning with this tune in my head for some odd reason - first time I've seen the opening titles since I was a kid - thanks for posting
thats it..! i've traced my love affair with ladies of the orient back to this show that i used to watch as a kid on saturday mornings... Su Yin started it for me....!
This was a great series. They clearly picked-up the clever trick from Gilligan's Island: set up the series premise in the opening song. Helps that it is such cool song.
Filmed on the Hawkesbury - I watched the whole series again recently - the locale is classic Australian bush. But for me it is still and will always be set on a tropical island, lost in time. Best theme song ever imo.
I used to think the song A TOWN CALLED MALICE by THE JAM was a rip on this title song.......I wonder if Paul Weller saw this show sometime(was shown in London area, that's where I saw it) and unconsciously absorbed the melody.
same beat and structure as "Malice" well spotted im sure Paul watched this as a kid growing up in Woking as well as Batman and Tales from the riverbank i remember watching this in 76 used to love it
In the world of TV themes, the opening of Lost islands has to be the unsurpassed masterpiece of awful. With its strained rhymes, and run-on narrative, the theme (beginning and end) manages to fill more than 10 percent of every episode. And just when you think the song is finally dying - it leaps to life again! "...But hiding in the bushes was a watchful pair of eyes." Painfully, embarrassingly wonderful! A monstrous theme classic.

there once was a child molester with a wonderful idea
to steal children from all places (with all kinds of faces)
he locked them up in a sailing ship, there were 20 little girls
he sailed the ship across the sea, so he called it;
THE UNITED PERVS!!!
