@weijay21 she is difficult, but not impossible. you absolutely have to capture a pikachu in viridian forest and raise it to at least level 20; a butterfree is also helpful to have to put starmie to sleep to stop it's bubblebeam attack. my team usually consisted of charmeleon, pikachu, butterfree and a kadabra and i was able to take on misty with relative ease.

Well yeh, I also had Yellow (it was the only version I had as a kid) but as a kid, I never trained Pikachu up very much, I relied on Butterfree to beat Brock and unless Pikachu is level 26, Starmie can be a real pain in the arse.

Of course now I can defeat Brock with level 15 Pikachu so only have 1 pokemon (Pikachu) up to Misty.

squirtle and bulbasaur are the better choice for the first gym but bulbasaur would be smarter since you can beat two gyms in a row but chamander could eliminate Eirka quickly. But by picking charmander you would need an alternative pokemon to beat Brock and the best choice is the butterfly pokemon

@DjangoZeroX Do remember that Butterfree is very weak to the Rock-type. In Red/Blue I usually use Nidoran male, and in Yellow you have Mankey.
