The words: Here we are, face to face A couple of Silver Spoons. Hopin' to find, we're two of a kind Making a go, making it grow. Together, we're going to find our way. Together, taking the time each day. To learn all about those things you just can't buy. Two Silver spoons together. You and I together (We're going to find our way) You and I together (We're going to find our way) You and I together.
I've never seen this show before, but I have seen the Christmas special before. It was featured on this promotional DVD I get at f.y.e. that was free w/ another purchase I made. I thought it was a pretty good special. That disc also contained Xmas episodes of "Married...with Children," "NewsRadio," and "The King of Queens."
I was born right when "Silver Spoons" ended its second season in May '84. But I was fortunate enough to catch the episodes when it went into syndication.
Add another one to the born in 79 club. I grew up in Seattle and I would give anything to live in the world of the 80s I remember. The funny thing is that tv just represents culture. And the world really did feel less crass, more family oriented, just a more decent place to be in those times. This isn't some alien world that's dead forever like some of us think. Lincoln said it best, we should strive to live to the better angels of our nature. We used to understand that and tv used to reflect
Dude...Where TF is the giant train set?!?!? Wasn't there an opening sequence where father and son were riding on a gigantic train set through the house?
Nice work. Click on my channel to see my 80's nostalgic collections; "80's TV Show Openings", "80's Saturday Morning Cartoons", "80's WWF Wrestling" and a "John Hughes Tribute"
Do you have any idea how much money those silver spoons would be worth now? Rick had the hair, man- I guess we all had the hair back then- never watched the show but I had just grown out of these sit com mind- control things. . .
Sure does bring back memories...best era in time - 80s. World was different and a much, much better place. I was born in '77 and miss the shows - WOW!
@john5246 I know. I was just kidding. Gary Coleman did make a guest appearance on this show once. It was that episode when Ricky & Gary ran away from home.
I remember Rick Shroeder this was from when he was a child star but how I've heard of him was through CMT when Brad Paisley did a video with Alisson Krauss.
They need to bring back the old 80's sitcom songs into modern television. I guess it's just nostalgia anymore. Nostalgia=cheesy? I dunno anymore I'm too fucking old to care.
@jkav77 amen bro, '77 baby here too. We're part of this generation also, and luckily, we have a lot of good memories of that time even though were were in elementary school.
@jkav77 hey i was born in 79 so you got an 80's ticket as far as I'm concerned! You are as much a product of that golden era as any of us late 70's and 80's babies! Just be glad you ain't waring a snapback and or sporting skinny jeans today like we did way back when! that was our time they wanna copy us! lol

You can tell they were on a real low budget when they started because the entire opening is all from the pilot.
That means after they got their network order for more episodes, they couldn't spend the cash to re-edit the opening.
Then again, maybe they just didn't want to; but that's highly inordinate.
