  • Names like "Bezuidenhout", "Erasmus" and "Hofmeyer" don`t sound very "rhodesian". The guy at 1:48 hardly speaks any English. So these foreigners were the legitmate force of Rhodesia while the indigenous were not? Strange! While i acknowledge (even Mugabe the idiot did so for a long time and still partly does) that white inhabitants of Rhodesia have a right to live in the country (but not as a privileged group), I can see no reasonable argument to allow foreigners being in control!

There were a lot of Afrikaans names amongst the original pioneering stock that entered the country in 1890. During the bush war, there were elements from the 'SAP' who did service in various areas - these are the names that you have spotted and are directly linked to the small SA contingent that served at the time. The vast majority of the security forces were black members with Ndebele or Shona names as a matter of fact!

  • @msasauk You admit that the settlers only came in 1890 - thats a good start! black members of the so called "rhodesian security forces" were fighting against their very own interest - which is the right to politically participate, So they had to be at the very least ill-informed about the real situation (to avoid the term brainwashing). Also they were often tricked or forced into the forces .. The state terrorist forces of the internationally not recognised settler regime had only 1 goal:

  • the goal: To prevent the indigenous inhabitants of the land from gaining politically rights with all force. Because them exercising their right meant the end to the high level of the expoitation of their labour which guaranteed the small white minority a incredible standard of living in "Rhodesia". You fought solely for the continuation of the "right" to exploit Africans. For this reason you killed people, you damaged and destabilisied regions and you poisoned areas with bíochemicals (Anthrax)

  • @Hendrik44987 You don't have much of a life, do you?

  • The rhodesian "security forces" are the perfect example of state terrorist organisations: an organised and institutionalised form of brutalizing people in order to achieve particular political interest of a minority whos authority is not naturally legitemated by its pure existence or by any reason! Short: in order to continue its morally and judical illegal reign the Ian Smith farmers clique chose to rather terrorise the country than to start a process of transformation.

There are many staving Zimbabweans today who would argue that their ill treatment in the past was nothing compared to what recent years has broght upon them. Sadly, the growth towards an integrated and stable society that was already happening in the early 60s was not fast enough for the greedy few in power today - whose agendas are FAR from the needs of the people they say that they serve. But this is not racist, so it is OK!

  • @Hendrik44987 There were some foreign volunteers. For example my uncle was going to college in South Africa and he volunteered to fight in Rhodesia even though he was Canadian.

  • And today Rhodesia is infested with a corrupt and brutal government. Liberals couldn't be happier!

  • what a shame. a great country like rhodesia completely ruined. same with south africa. theses were true patriots.

  • Patriotic Front? More like Cowardic Front.

  • in 5: 37 is president Dupont ?

  • Not sure - does look a bit like him - he was quite short!

  • @Forumlivii - Well spotted - it certainly is.

  • Excellent vid. Thanks
