If the u.s truly wants to help Cuba then they should open up all trade and travel. Eliminate the trade acts and other strangling acts they have put in place. Treat Cuba like they treat China in regards to trade and education. Dedicate funds to kick start Cuba after keeping them down for so long. It's gone on long enough. It's cruel and unusual punishment to people that did not deserve it. Open trade, commerce, give them a chance to succeed like they have given China all along.
In the video where they ask "what was life like before the revolution?" they should have asked "what's it been like since the u.s. decided to starve your country economically and punish anyone that attempted to trade with you? It's so disheartening that propaganda works so well, and the average person pays the price at the hands of someone who could care less. It was wrong and the u.s. is starting to finally admit that fact and make changes on working with cuba instead of against it.
I'm not trying to push some crazy ideas here. After I visited Cuba starting back in 1998 and after talking to cubans while traveling across the Provinces of Cuba I wanted to know just what the hell happened to a country full of incredibly strong and talented people. When I started to find what did happen since 1959 and the involvement of the u.s. I was appalled by what the u.s. did at the expense of the citizens of Cuba. It was brutel, so please research and find out the truth, it's important.
I did want to mention that before 1959 the united states owned cuba, oil, sugar cane, utilities, all areas of industry. They placed Batista in power through various support to ensure this ownership would continue well into the future. There was a revolution then because not everyone agreed with someone else owning their county, all of their country. Remember the people that challenged the system did so by putting their lives on the table. Passion for freedom and you can't fault them for that.

He was punished for this by the U.S. but what was really brutally discusting is that the U.S. punished the cuban people, because they suffered the most. I was raised in Cuba, every time there one of these activities we were taken there against your own will, if you refused to go you would get in trouble in school, and would need to come to school with your parents, you just go cause you have to.

Everything said in this video is true, except one thing I disagree with, the economic situation in the island is not because of the US embargo, it's because Cuba today has an unemployment rate of up to 60%, so production level is to its lowest. Can you believe that Cuba has to import sugar from the US? So think about that.
@llanesyasmani I've also heard from a Cuban friend of mine that Cuba actually sells sugar to France and Japan inorder to get money to import sugar from places such as Brazil.

If the u.s truly wants to help Cuba then they should open up all trade and travel. Eliminate the trade acts and other strangling acts they have put in place. Treat Cuba like they treat China in regards to trade and education. Dedicate funds to kick start Cuba after keeping them down for so long. It's gone on long enough. It's cruel and unusual punishment to people that did not deserve it. Open trade, commerce, give them a chance to succeed like they have given China all along.

In the video where they ask "what was life like before the revolution?" they should have asked "what's it been like since the u.s. decided to starve your country economically and punish anyone that attempted to trade with you? It's so disheartening that propaganda works so well, and the average person pays the price at the hands of someone who could care less. After I visited Cuba starting back in 1998 and after talking to cubans while traveling across the Provinces of Cuba I wanted to know just what the hell happened to a country full of incredibly strong and talented people. When I started to find what did happen since 1959 and the involvement of the u.s. I was appalled by what the u.s. did at the expense of the citizens of Cuba. It was brutel, so please research and find out the truth, it's important.

I did want to mention that before 1959 the united states owned cuba, oil, sugar cane, utilities, all areas of industry. They placed Batista in power through various support to ensure this ownership would continue well into the future. There was a revolution then because not everyone agreed with someone else owning their county, all of their country. Remember the people that challenged the system did so by putting their lives on the table. Passion for freedom and you can't fault them for that.

In the book "The Imperial Cruise" written by James Bradley (author of "Flags of Our Fathers") , the reason the U.S. didn't keep Cuba after defeating the Spanish is explained. It also explains why we stopped at the Rio Grande in the Mexican War. The book is about Teddy Roosevelt.
Essentially American leaders didn't want any more dark skinned people becoming part of our population whether citizens or chattel. So Cuba was left to it's own devices while serving the interests of US capitalists/

When cuba wanted to buy medical equipment from swedan. swedan was told if the y helped cuba, they would buy nothing from sweden anymore. Everything said in this video is true, except one thing I disagree with, the economic situation in the island is not because of the US embargo, it's because Cuba today has an unemployment rate of up to 60%, so production level is to its lowest. Can you believe that Cuba has to import sugar from the US? So think about that.

Usually when they visit Cuba (Most are too afraid to go) they again start to hate castro.Castro has kept cuba independent. At what cost? this video has shown some of the shames and gains. @meronmotors Fidel would allow trade, blame USA from bad economy, they made embargo and are keeping it up, its 100% fault of US government. I believe that Cuba would be like Haiti without Castro, state ruined by capitalist dictators with life expectancy worse than some african developing countries.

You have people that work in the government and are high officials and Communist party members who get special privileges and live better than the rest of the people. Bueno yo recuerdo que antes de 1990 estaba el mismo gobierno con igual bloqueo y nada faltaba a nadie.Pero obviamente estaba la Union Sovietica que era nuestro principal provedor y no nos sentiamos el bloqueo.Luego se cayo y obviamente nuestra economia tambien.Pero aun asi,cuba sobrevivie hoy

At first I thought this was the usual report showing how Cuba is "struggling" under the "blockade", but not at all. 13:48 gives you a rare insight into the brutality of this system. Most chilling of all is the old bloke making excuses for the police. That's what sustains a system like this, that kind of apathy and ignorance.

@edoctorno No creo que sea desde EEUU, además en mi país han emigrado mas de 10,000 cubanos en los ultimos dos años. Si estuvieran bien en Cuba no hubiera venido. Estamos acostumbrados de verlos en todas partes en la capital, son muy educados y trabajadores, y a través de ellos aprendemos como viven en sus países.
