it was a great way to start cropredy ! and is just what cropredy needs. a petition should be started to get thea gilmore playing there. i met her and she told me dave pegg turned her down ?????? maybe he's frightened of fairport being over shadowed ?
I was there and the band did very well. They seemed - understandably so - quite nervous and pulled off a fantastic set for a comparatively fledgling band. The lead guitar was particularly impressive. I hope they go from strength to strength. You can't get a sense of how well they did from this clip but to kick off Croppers must have been both nerve-wracking and exciting. Good luck to them. Whether there was a hint of nepotism or not., they proved that they deserved the gig.
I think you'll find b1zki7 that the 'nepotism' that you refer to doesn't infact exist. The festival organisers pick the acts on their own merit and all acts follow a strict application process to play at Cropredy. Harlequinn did indeed follow this procedure and any family relations/friendships/favours do NOT apply to their succesful selection for this years festival.
Tbf Harlequinn are awesome. Only seen them twice, and both times they amazed me with their live performances.
