I just found digit-tutors for maya but they seem to have also for real flow. idk you do have to pay though. I might give it a try after I learn maya and zbrush

I thought Real Flow was part of Cinema 4D. Guess I have that confused. Have you experimented with C4D? I just downloaded a 30-day trial of Maya. I hear Maya is the industry standard...maybe a bit harder to learn, but that most people should go with Maya. What is your opinion?

you are current Maya is an industry standard. But also you would need some experience in 3DS max, zbrush and many others in a line up. Maya is geared more towards general modeling. 3DS more toward game models.

There should be a student version of maya. But i have maya 2008. You really don't need the 2009 version. As most of the new features are for far advanced modelers.

Can Maya handle all of these crazy special effects on it's own? I see all of these videos with awesome effects and animatronics (like Shane Acker's "9" for instance), but it doesn't seem as though Maya can handle all of that stuff without other programs. I'm ignorant to a lot of the capabilities so far, but I'm a noob. Some of it is just hard to wrap your brain around. It kicks ass!

Oh, and can I even purchase Maya 2008 still? I don't think they do the educational ones anymore.

Well we need to use many different tools. But maya has many of the tools required to make a sweet video. It just takes a ton of experience. Some other programs may have better tools for certain features better than what exists in maya. Maya is a good start though, then just branch out.
