Clive Frances is my Second cousin... Love seeing this...He looks so much like my Uncle Paul... well they should... their Mother's are sisters... Its wonderful to see him in this...
I have been waiting 15 yrs to finally see this first episode. Twice back in the 90's this show was aired on KBYU in the States...and BOTH times I caught on in about the middle of the first season. Watching this takes me back to when life felt so much different than it does now.
I like the first two series with Eve Matheson as Zoe. There's real warmth, sparkiness and humour between Alec and Zoe. Unfortunately, I feel it seems to be lacking from the later series when Zoe was played by Lesley Dunlop. Not sure why, the character just isn't as believeable and the lead characters don't spark off each other.
Oh, I know her. She's in The Thick of It - she plays Claire Ballantine, the principled head of the independent inquiry who gets roped in to a leadership bid.
I ahve only the DVDs of seasons 1 and 2 .. 3-6 I can't find.. heard 3 is available but hard, and 4,5,6 are basically impossible unless someone recorded them can pick them up while in England.
I love this show. I used to see it on PBS. Wish I could see more. I love the warm feel, makes me wish all the characters were my friends. More please.
I have every episode and even the xmas special that was made.
The first two series was the best with eve and even though i like lesley dunlop she seemed to be make the character more grumpy and it wasnt as good.
Rebecca Lacey was excellent as Hilary and when Rebecca left and Ashley Jenson took over in the last series she was good too.

Middle of the road arse. Like being covered in icing sugar and buggered by Paul O'Grady.

@mazzab1970 - very much agreed....do you know why they replaced Eve Matheson in the first place?

@mazzab1970 I agree wholeheartedly - with Eve Matheson as Zoe the casting was perfect! It's a real pleasure to see this again.

Can't believe this was 20 yrs ago! Rebecca Lacey was really funny in it. Eve Matheson is gorgeous. Shame it ended sadly.
Great series together with so many others back in 1990.

This was a great show. So cozy and warm, and likeable characters make for a very different setting than the crap you see on tv these days.

Totally agree, landofnir!

@landofnir it was crap sorry, the theme tune says it all, warm and cozy can be found in many other places, this was an awful unfunny comedy.
