This is Hillarious.. I was in the MC in the early 80s and remember it was like the movie full metal jacket I saw later.. the funny part is that during the time Gomer was made it was actualy (10) times worse than the full metal jacket movie.. recruits were beat up.. I was punched in the stomach 3 times and choked to the neck to the squad deck and had my hand stomed on one time too..all illegal..you knew it was going to happen when the DI sent a recruit to each hatch to alert if anyone is coming

Although Frank Sutton played a Marine Sergeant on TV, he served in the US Army serving 14 missions in the South Pacific. He joined the Army because Sutton didn't pass the Marines physical. R. Lee Ermey, on the othe hand, was a US Marine.

No offense to the late Frank Sutton, but R. Lee Ermey's character in Full Metal Jacket would have made Sgt. Carter look like Gomer Pyle!
