I was in it, but it's hard to see. I'm by the flag and take a hit at the same time someone next to me does and they kind of block me out. If you can see it I'm wearing really dark kersey brown pants and simply crumble from a gunshot as if my feet suddenly disappear.
Last place I would be is trying to duke it out with the federals in a half circle. One well placed shot of double canister would end that pretty quick.
The most authentic video today of confederates in the field at a reenactment. I had the pleasure of being on battalion staff watching this all unfold.... soon after this i broke down into tears.... watching us surrenderwas aweful.. We were asked to break and walk away and i found the shoulder of a federal soldier to cry on..... Best event of 2009
Hey, post up more of the ending if you could. I was wounded at 4:36 and later was told to do walking/shootin wounded, and I would like to see how I did. This is Korey by the way. Greenbush was fun, me and bob had a nice hit together there.
I will try to post more of this battle in the future. I have so much footage from events that it might take me a while. I want to do a video of all the events we did, and make it interesting, though I might have to put that on our webpage just because of the size.
Damn that was awesome imagine if that was real...
that'd be terrible, all those bodies writhing and screaming on the ground, some dead some not. Seeing the flag bearer dead on the ground, lieing on his flag...
man love the vid! my friend did one last year on sunday of us takin the hill or atleast he attempted to. but this one u can see everythin clearly. took some good hits that weekend!
This looked incredible. My hat goes off to all the other reenactors. I am a Cornfed Comrade and was with the Colors with the rest of the Cornfeds.
I feel at 1:50 on the right side of the color bearer. Mark Hiedalbal did a fantastic job as Confederate CO. I wish we had more Late War and Early War events like this. On Saturday, I was the wounded Confederate who picked the colors, and I was the last in the Color Guard. What a experiance. I am usually Union to the core, this was a experiance!
It was fun doing an early war / late war and I was really happy at how somber the surrender was. Mark Hiedalbal does a nice job. I like his first person approach and look forward to being under his command again (I think I can speak for all of The Orphan Boys when I say this).
Will we be seeing you at Galesburg? I know some of the Cornfeds will be blue for this one, so maybe we will only see you in our rifle sights :-)
It is always a pleasure when the Battalion can work together as well as it. I remember not wanting to end up carrying the flag because I didn't fully know the procedures, but two CSA officers helped me right away, much more different than the Federal officers in the Midwest!
I probablly won't be at Galesburg, but I know Mark Krauz and Aaron Rowland were talking about going to Galesburg. For the other Cornfeds, I am unsure but there will a number of them there. I'm looking forward to Minooka!
VERY nice my friend. I have a bunch of video my dad took and still yet have to put it on. I must say though tha was a nice clip of my company falling back as skirmishers in the end!
Best footage I have seen so far, especially to the officer with no shoes.
