Great depth and while the animations and modelling weren't 100% at their best, it makes the viewer stop, think and empathise with the character, which is the whole point.
What I can't understand though is how such obvious things slipped through a net that obviously had a lot of effort put into it. Things like 3:11 where the fingers on the hand are just a little too disjointed. Or throughout when his forearms were the size of his shoulders. Or at 1:39 with the over the top expression.
There is no age to feel that pain and it's true the sensation is so well represented!! We get frustrated when the body is tired and we can't work anymore! And no one can help it, patience is the justice.
@thisisITalia Un "poveraccio vero"..... BUT he certainly didn't do himself any favors by further injuring his hands,... smashing them into the table and the floor.....AND why is he cheered by that drab-ass lightbulb coming on? Wait till he sees the electric bill at the end of the month! XD
ah damn i have no feeling when i watched it the first time....but when i re-watched it the second time and saw batforjustice comment and started to understand then i started to cry it made me think about my grandparents difficulties.
I also really like how at about 3:29/3:30 the man looks at the lightbulb in what looks to me like thanks. Ten the lightbulb flickers back and says your welcome:)
To me the light represented God. When we have bad days and lose our our way from the light we see it as if the light abandons us. Gives out on us. If we reach out for the light we realize that the light never gave out. He will always help us from our brightest to our darkest days. We just need to first reach out for Him.
Sad yet beautiful. I agree with batforjustice. It also shows that even though no one appreciates nor thanks you for what you've done, don't give up regardless what age you are or what you might have been through, just keep on going. Because someday there will be someone to give you the respect and honor you deserve.
I think it portrays how how age or handicaps can affect your ability to do things. And to show the frustration that comes along with it. A sad truth is no matter what age you are or what happens to you; there are a lot of people out there that will treat you like a has been without ever saying thankyou for what you did and what you are trying to do. This could also be applied to the child support more is never enough mentality.
geez i wish i can jump to my pc screen to help tht grandpa seriously remind me of my father always2 working hard for our famly :(( thnk you dad i love you :')
@guitarlee37 its the whole point is to make us feel sad and know that being old is not allways happiness some people are struggling to make a living even when they are old. there is a lesson being tought here.
@guitarlee37 I think half of the point of the movie is to show us why we need to have empathy with old people, and especially those people who are not as able as us.
No matter how small it may seem, there will always be hope and you should never ever give up. Fight your hardest every day and make every day count because you never know if it will be your last day.
This is such a sad video. I'm crying so hard that my head hurts. I want to go in and give him a hug and work for him for free and pay him so he doesn't have to work all the time and that he can retire.
i think its because he saw that he can still do it so he regained his confidence.....not some girl explanation like will show you the light hilly billies.

'Pain' has many faces! Yet "Hope does spring Eternal..." That light-bulb he turned with his nerve-damaged hand- gave him an idea- as his subtle expression reveals.

Nice, sad animation, but I think that some of the old man's expressions may have been too exaggerated. When his jaw drops, it's almost comical, getting the point of disappointment and surprise across, but not the emotion that goes with it.
