@TheKourosh1990 thats the past fuck 1996 and 2004. get with the present. Korea got 3rd place. what did iran get? like 6th place. and now you guys have to qualify for 2015 and Korea doesn't. SMD
look at the recent records, most of the matched ended in favor of Iran. you forgot to mention your lost 4-0 to Iran in 1997. Since 2009 till now we have 2 victory , 2 draw and 1 lose to Korea
see, by wining us in AFC doesn't make you people stronger than us but Korea is a good team.
@TheKourosh1990 but we could also make a similar argument with Japan. Japan hasn't beaten us since 2005. As 2-2 is officially recorded as a draw. Korea and Iran now have equal number of wins, losses.

@lonewolve7 there were 4 teams playing because that was the level of asian football at the time, countries, like Japan, Iran couldn't qualify.

@lonewolve7 Oh, you mean when China beat Korea FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY? No one was there! Park Ji Sung, Ki Sung Yong (celtic), Lee Chung Yong (bolton), Park Chu Young (monaco), Koo Ja Cheol (now playing for Wolfsburg), Son Heung Min (Hamburg), Lee Young Pyo (the best full back, retired after Asian Cup)

@lonewolve7 yeah, I admit there are serious flaws in our defense - particularly after our centerback legend, ex-captain, Hong Myung Bo retired 8 years ago. I heard he even received offer from barcelona once.
and statistics says, usually, teams with strong defense do well at tournaments, I actually agree with some of your points.
@2009xellos japan r fortunate to winn asian cup, their defend & gk is r bit of suspect though , especially against qatar, jordan ,korea and Australia games but they r dangerous when they makes a counter attack and their one touch football r unstoppable. And i give credit to Italian coach ,ability to substitute players at crucial point and his players respond well .

@lonewolve7 I know Australia, Japan, Iran are all good. Honestly, we weren't playing in our "own backyard" during Spain 2-2 Korea 1994 USA World Cup. @lonewolve7 east asian football championship? who gives a damn about that sht, only China and Hongkong would.
Japan lost to us 3-1, they had Nagatomo, Tulio, Uchida - it's clear that Korea, Japan didn't really care in the first place.
the best player during the match was was probably the lousy DF, O Beomseok, also known as "Oh Bum Suck" who did the major work messing up the match vs Argentina. He probably got on the team thanks to the efforts of his dad who works at KFA.
@TheKourosh1990 I repect iranian team ,they r tougher and physiacl strong like european team but there r no variation in their attacking styles....eventhough their defend r sound, they managed to score one goal in each game.is o
@lonewolve7 also, the number of Asian Cup participants increased to 16 only during the recent decades, when Japan won their first cup, in 1992, there were 8 teams playing. They faced China in the semi-finals.. like seriously...
Who faced Iran 5 times in a row? Us.
And, by the way, the reason why Japan's last goal in the tournament became a hot issue in Korea also is that, the goal-scorer, Lee Tadanari, is a Korean Japanese. I'm not saying Korea deserves credit for this. Just saying.
@TheKourosh1990 I repect iranian team ,they r tougher and physiacl strong like european team but there r no variation in their attacking styles......but still rate Iran as a threat for a spot in the WC.
@lonewolve7 Koreans have been crazy about WC only, they hadn't really cared about the Asian Cup, till now. Rather, it should have been a freekick - players were in the box even before Honda kicked the PK. We're not complaining. It's just that we weren't very lucky. 27 less hours of rest than Japan who faced Qatar? What teams have Qatar beaten?
both countrys played great. iran and korea are one of asias best soccer (football) teams. well japan better get ready for korea and not lose like usual
Froam the time Mullah (Mr Khamenei and his friends) toook the power in Iran not only Iranian footbol but also whole iran become a disaster. A country on hands of a maffia group putting all oli money on their pockets and supporting terrorist around the world. Do you know who are controlling Iranian sport (Iranian revolutionary guard) with Ahmadinejhad and his relatives. This is the situation in iran right now. A dictator and a depressed nation
On a positive note however, it is great that both nations have great young talents, we just have to hope that they can get discovered by some of the great clubs out there!
By the way, to all those idiots who are blaming politics and religion like Iran being an Islamic Republic, go learn something about football and then come and give your oppinions about the match. You don't understand how stupid you sound when you try and blame poor performance of the Iranian national team by politics!
Iran lost this match because they played with a different tactic, a poor tactic in this case which didn't work once in this match.
@mattigil You think Iran lost simply because of "bad tactics" or formation? And to blame the referee is such a tired, old excuse. Wake up. Did you see Iran's other games? They barely won against very mediocre sides. If you don't think the theocracy and lack of development in the "Islamic Republic" of Iran has to do with Iran's continued underachievement, just take a look at the final 4 sides at the Asian Cup. Iran doesn't even profit from a normal shirt deal. Third-world operation.
@LongueTiedNoLunger Yes it was simple tactics. The players weren't playing freely, they were playing long balls even when karim ansarifard was taken off and tiny rezaei went into that position, they were playing too defensive. The referee gave some silly yellow cards to the likes of Teymourian when it was completely visible that the ref was affected by the coach's comment and reactions.
@LongueTiedNoLunger ...... Also everyone knows from evidence that the Islamic Republic has developed greatly in a lot of areas including football. An evidence of this is the fact that Inter Milan, one of the greatest clubs out there opened an academy in Iran a few years back and Barcelona are also looking at the prospect of opening one in Iran.
Of course there are flaws in the Football Ferderation of Iran just like a lot of the countries even English FA as I've witnessed myself
Afshin Ghotbi messed up on his tactics in the match against South Korea, Iran should have played a lot better than that. Also I can't believe how much the referee was influenced by the South Korean Coach's comments and reactions off the field, the referee ruined what could have been a great entertaining game for South Koreans and Iranians!
it seems all the west asian teams has fallen out of the tourament ,Great ! i think western asians dont have to necessarily play any football any more !country like qatar is a shame of asian and world football!
fuck the islamic republic..it's their fault we dont have a strong football team, instead of investing money into our team melli...they spend money on terrorist organizaion in lebanon like hizbollah, and terror groups in palestine like hamas...
Every time Japan plays South Korea, I expect a win from South Korea, as it normally happens, or a draw. Why do I expect this? I'm just basing it on history; South Korea's always been the more stronger side, and Japan is getting better and better.
So impressed by both team's display, especially by South Korea. Park Ji-Sung was superb as always, Ji Dong-Won will be famous in Europe soon, and finally I've seen Korean's lauding Yoon Bit-Garam the youngster's play, he sure is very talented. Low score match, nonetheless very exciting, entertaining. Clearly the best game in this tournament. I think Iran needs a long tutelage from experienced European coaches like Rehhagel. Mr.Ghotbi seems OK coach but Brazil of Asia deserves better.
Both teams played well and in all reality, Iran could have won; after all only 1 shot by Korea actually went in the goal. South Korea was definitely dominant, however.
there must be some reasons to explain this phenomena.
It could be that players in mid east are spoiled with vast oil wealth?? or on contrary, just playing outdated infrastructure under outdated training method??
I don't know.
but, people working in this soccer field have to really figure them out.
otherwise, future for mid east soccer would be not so bright...
good by middle east...this tournament showed us clear that middle east is the cancer of the world. use your head instead of relying on ur fuckin oil!!!
I agree with "use your head instead of relying on ur fuckin oil!!!" part, but I think oil is a dangerous resource to have, specially for undeveloped countries.
You will automatically become part of America's interests, which could decide for your future. The billions of dollars of profit will most likely distort and destroy the natural progression of the culture & subsidize all failures in other aspects of your economy. Corruption &fight for control of the resource will ensue!
People are Iranian, government is an Islamic Republic, National teams represent people not governments (or at lease they are supposed to), so Iranian National Team it is.
IR or lack there of, should not bother anyone, except the fanatics!?
BTW, Iranian people have a much better reputation than their government, so I like it without IR!
The majority are IRI supporters. If you do not believe it, so you can travel to Iran and check. Of course there are "Bache sosol" in Tehran, and where those who complain the most. Ironically, they are the richest in the neighborhood and go to private schools, who complain most. Most people who are not rich and have very "easy" life are those who work hard and IRI supporters. I think you should read why that the revolution in iran, was a islamic one
Svar på denne video ...EyBaba is downright lying! Majority by far are against the regime, even the former supporters of the regime are gettin tired of their incompetence in managing the economy and their constant oppression
@fwfeo I see. I really don't see the need for that to be added but anyway. I'm sure God is more interested in other things besides football anyway. ; )
All 4 Middle East teams Lost in Quarter Final.. and Two from Group of Death lost in Quarter? If you take India out, Group C was teh Group of the Death.. You got it??

@2009xellos the reason when the team conceded many goals -
1. maybe the ref fault e.g italian player took the dive in the penalty box against australian in 2006 and went on to win WC.(australian Not whinging)
2.the defend team are under pressure from attacking team therefore they made silly mistakes at the back and conceded PK.
3. generally they fail to mark their man .

A dictator and a depressed nation
farszad22 1 year ago
On a positive note however, it is great that both nations have great young talents, we just have to hope that they can get discovered by some of the great clubs out there!
mattigil 1 year ago
By the way, to all those idiots who are blaming politics and religion like Iran being an Islamic Republic, go learn something about football and then come and give your oppinions about the match. You don't understand how stupid you sound when you try and blame poor performance of the Iranian national team by politics!
Iran lost this match because they played with a different tactic, a poor tactic in this case which didn't work once in this match.
mattigil 1 year ago 6
@mattigil You think Iran lost simply because of "bad tactics" or formation? And to blame the referee is such a tired, old excuse. Wake up. Did you see Iran's other games? They barely won against very mediocre sides. If you don't think the theocracy and lack of development in the "Islamic Republic" of Iran has to do with Iran's continued underachievement, just take a look at the final 4 sides at the Asian Cup. Iran doesn't even profit from a normal shirt deal. Third-world operation.
LongueTiedNoLunger 1 year ago
@LongueTiedNoLunger Yes it was simple tactics. The players weren't playing freely, they were playing long balls even when karim ansarifard was taken off and tiny rezaei went into that position, they were playing too defensive. The referee gave some silly yellow cards to the likes of Teymourian when it was completely visible that the ref was affected by the coach's comment and reactions.
my comments are continued....
mattigil 1 year ago
@LongueTiedNoLunger ...... Also everyone knows from evidence that the Islamic Republic has developed greatly in a lot of areas including football. An evidence of this is the fact that Inter Milan, one of the greatest clubs out there opened an academy in Iran a few years back and Barcelona are also looking at the prospect of opening one in Iran.
Of course there are flaws in the Football Ferderation of Iran just like a lot of the countries even English FA as I've witnessed myself
mattigil 1 year ago
@mattigil agree with you. some ppl here can't differentiate between football and other matters.
Danti2302 1 year ago
@Danti2302 Thanks man, to bring irrelivent things into football is so stupid and should be stop!
mattigil 1 year ago
Afshin Ghotbi messed up on his tactics in the match against South Korea, Iran should have played a lot better than that. Also I can't believe how much the referee was influenced by the South Korean Coach's comments and reactions off the field, the referee ruined what could have been a great entertaining game for South Koreans and Iranians!

Mr.Ghotbi seems OK coach but Brazil of Asia deserves better.

all countries in mid east were kicked out.
It had happened in the last world cup.
there must be some reasons to explain this phenomena.
It could be that players in mid east are spoiled with vast oil wealth?? or on contrary, just playing outdated infrastructure under outdated training method??
I don't know.
but, people working in this soccer field have to really figure them out.
otherwise, future for mid east soccer would be not so bright...
kenzo425 1 year ago

Turkey isnt in the Asian league or cup all together, though having a decent football streak
Iran is under tremendous political and economical sanctions, whose government cares less to such topics as football.
Iraq's past thirty years of internal and external war and sanctions has distorted the fabric of its community for generations.
The rest have never really fostered a national identity to begin with, little be football.

ESTHESIATANDK 1 year ago
@ESTHESIATANDK

But the as***** commentator also didn’t say the name of The Islamic Republic of Iran (IR Iran) right!
Any way we will make you to say it right!
hdti53 1 year ago
People are Iranian, government is an Islamic Republic, National teams represent people not governments (or at lease they are supposed to), so Iranian National Team it is.
IR or lack there of, should not bother anyone, except the fanatics!?
BTW, Iranian people have a much better reputation than their government, so I like it without IR!
fwfeo 1 year ago
@fwfeo

It’s Islamic Republic of Iran.
By the way sought Korea is not Korea Republic because it separated from its mother land (North Korea), and its western puppet.

@hdti53 When did they add 'Islamic Republic' to Iran?
tabutu1 1 year ago
@tabutu1
after 1979 revolution and subsequently Mullas taking power in Iran they added "Islamic" just to make sure we won't go hell!
But, I think they led us straight to hell!!

Lets be honest here.
Korea has spent millions of dollars and much planning to develop their sports to this high performance consistency. Hats of to them.
They deserved this win.
Our Team Melli and all sports teams suffer from mismanagement and outdated infrastructure.
It would be unfair if Iran won without putting in the hard work. You can't go to your exams without doing your homework, which Korea did.
