Having servied in Eritrea with the UN for 6months back in 2002, I can confirm, it is a truly beautiful, unspoilt country with very proud generous and friendly people, I always look back on my time there with great happiness and hope for the future of Eritrea. Enjoyed watching the clip and remembering great times. Hope the role of UNMEE has helped the development of Eritrea.

I think in the beginning of the mission it sort of helped in a way that peace was possible by having an international body monitor the border between Eritrea and Ethiopia. But as time drag on with out clear objectives the mission seemed an obstacle to lasting peace between Eritrea and Ethiopia. And now we see it as fruitless endeavor considerings the fact that Ethiopia keeps rejecting the final agreement and finalizing the peace process.
