  • I have an iron cobra am having a hard time heel toing with my left foot. I do it with my right all the time but it takes alot of effort with the left. I cant even oncorporate the left into my playing aswell.

  • its okay to play with or without shoe.. but mind others in your band, they smell it.

  • how have you set the springs?

  • how have you set the springs? the left one?

  • are iron cobras really that good?

  • what do you think about playing with heel down, and play slow.

  • @Gruefundalles This video is just a demonstration of technique, so it doesn't really matter. If you're playing that fast with a swivel technique, standard footwork or heel-toe, you'll choke it on one bass drum head; the only way it won't choke is to play it on two bass drums.

  • Nice technique Man..., You must have

put in a lot of practice hours to get your

toes, to the ball of the foot and then heel method into one continuous motion......

    Props to you bro!

  • yours noted....thank you and keep us update with your new video.

  • my opinion is that wearing of shoes while demostrating is the proper way because you do not wear socks while playing especially in the open with audience. just a suggestion. keep up the good work. more power to you.....

  • I always play without shoes, even on stage.

  • It might be more comfortable without shoes, but it's bad for the your feet.

  • what pedal may I ask? looks almost like a TAYE pedal or a Tama

  • it's a Tama Iron Cobra pedal

  • tamas

  • That's not heel toe, it's foot toe oO, and it's literrally toes.

  • i used to do that technique but after a while it starts hurting very bad in your ankle and calfs really painful

  • Geez, cramming your foot in by lifting up your toes. It's definitely time for some longboards. You'll be a lot more comfortable and able to play faster.

  • see that technique . is that used for 16th notes or 32nd notes ?? or can you use it for like ... both ??

  • Nice video, I am trying to learn and control this technique!

I have a question, when you do the double stroke very fast, you seem to rotate your ankle a bit, or is it optical illusion because of the camera angle?

  • thanks...

Yes, I do a little rotation of the foot. Also there is some sort of waving motion of my foot. That's why I'm playing without shoes.

  • wow, that makes me to wanna play drums ;D

i play heel toe as well, but only on a single pedal for fast triplets or doubles and it makes it really easy to play fast. (:

  • Why do you play the pedal without shoes? Is more confortable?

  • To most drummers. Plus, some can't do the heel-toe with their shoes on.

  • Why is it that almost everyone that I've seen doing heel toe on here is not wearing shoes? Is it impossible to do without shoes on or what?

  • is that a tama iron cobra?

  • yes, it is...

  • Do you perform live without shoes as well?

  • yes!

  • are you wearing stockings?

  • great video!!

  • That double stroke roll is really impressive on the bass drum.. I've tried it before, but I couldn't get the technique but this really cleared things up and gave me some new ideas. Thanks

  • are you using the heel toe method? where you rock your foot back and forth?

  • does this work with size 15 feet? im having trouble gettin it

  • the heel toe tech. works with any size! I got 11-12 which still is pretty big, not 15 biiig, but it's possible! If u can't do it after 1 week, don't blame your feet but blame your technique! try different things! what some ppl might think is that u actually hit your HEEL down on the board which is not practical unless u have an Axis Longboard but it's dumb to practice like that! it's the rocking motion backwards that is the "heel motion" which really isn't involving the actual heel

  • lies! I wear 11-12 *some shoes dont seem to be the size they say?* I cant use heel toe on my pedals. Maybe if I had longboards.

  • doesnt matter. I'm a 13 and I do heel toe on my iron cobra all day long. Dont blame your feet for faulty technique.

  • I can do heel toe all day without shoes. Try wearing big shoes on a regular sized pedal.

  • uhm...I just said that's what I do!

  • 1. You never said you wear shoes

    2. I wasn't blaming my feet, I'm blaming my shoes. If I can do heel toe without my shoes wonderfully, but not with, thats saying something.

  • 1, never wear shoes?...what am I?! Some hobo living in a dumpster?!

2, the only thing that portrays is, as said, faulty technique.

  • You dont make much sense, lets see a video of you doing some heel toe on an average sized double bass pedal with shoes.

  • are u seriously under the foolish impression that you can't play heeltoe with shoes on shortboards?! look up Tim Watersons videos on here YT where he explains AND demonstrates just how stupid and arrogant you are.

  • ive watched it, and I dont understand it. I think your full of it

  • not to mention tim waterson is using a LONGBOARD in that video.

  • whats wrong with playing without ur shoes on, imo its more comfortable

  • good work man.. one question is it confotable playing without shoes ı mean sometimes also ım playn like that but it tires me alot also ı feel like smthng missn u know :)

  • helped alot man :)_ thanks and sexy sox! rofl!!!!

  • sick man

  • You are dirty with the pedals man. Awesome sound

  • you tight your spring strong or light?

  • the spring tension is on "medium".

  • Is your feather streched strong or light? That is a good video!

  • i tried this and got a heel spur!

  • its good..upload more.thanks

  • what kinda pedal is that

  • it's Tama Iron Cobra

  • i hate heel toe.

  • why would you hate heel toe?

  • you lose too much contact with the pedal, and control goes with it.

  • not with enough practice

  • that's right - lot's of practice! it'll come to you, just stay relaxed so that the leg muscles don't cramp up.

  • amazin'...

  • Nice!!

  • awfull socks.. throw them away=)

  • im just starting to learn how to play and slow motion stuff like this really helps thx

  • extrem funny !

  • your really good...better then derek roddy...he didnt do the right technic.

  • no he did a different technique! this is heel-toe! he did heel-up double strokes!

  • fuck off, stop with lame comparisons!

  • aint that just heel-toe?

  • Should always keep the beaters off the bass drum. Not sure why I'm telling you this.. I guess we all have our bad habits.

  • very smooth.excellent.

  • Wow... double strokes on a bass drum, i need to learn that

  • what kind of pedals are thosE?

  • the pedals are Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide

  • i'm gonna try thiss :]]

  • this is great now my bro can do better!

  • no your pedal isnt to short,.. watch the other video the 1 where its just the beater on thew practise thing,.. just do the techniqe and it will still work

  • NICE... when ur doing it on double bass is it double strokes or single... RRLLRRLL or RLRLRLRL

  • at the end of this video I'm alternating between 8th notes played as singlestrokes (LRLRLR) and 16th notes played as doublestrokes (LLRRLLRRLLRR).

  • hey, if ur the one playing this. Wats the tension on ur pedal (is it loose or tight) and wats the tension on the bass drum head (loose or tight)???? Thxs im really trying to get this down.... :)

  • @ mississaugarider: The tension of my pedal springs are put to the middle position. Same goes for my bassdrum head.

In generall it's easier to play doubles on the bassdrum, if the BD heads are very tight, but I don't like the sound of a very tight bassdrum.

  • helpful indeed.nice doubles there!

  • errrrrrr so thas what ya feet look like in slow motion wen ya playing with the heel toe...

  • Nice, just plain nice technique. Great smoothness on the double-pedal roll (alá Tim Waterson). Good stuff indeed.

  • AMAZING!! THANKS MAN!! SPEAK TO YA ON DRUMMERWORLD :D :P

  • my pedal is too short for that lol

  • nice dude... got to try it out.... nice heel toe technique....

  • great. very helpful thanks....awesome socks.

  • THANK YOU VERY FRIGGIN MUCH!!!! all of these videos are just dudes blazing away not showing you actually how to do it. thanx

  • Thanks for posting this instructional video...i though my feet where to big to do the heel toe technique..but i realise that it's the middle section that is used instead of literally the heel...sweet...Chears

  • Wow that helped a lot! Ive been trying so hard to get that, and now i understand how to do it properly! and those are nice socks.

  • nice socks
