I have an iron cobra am having a hard time heel toing with my left foot. I do it with my right all the time but it takes alot of effort with the left. I cant even oncorporate the left into my playing aswell.
@Gruefundalles This video is just a demonstration of technique, so it doesn't really matter. If you're playing that fast with a swivel technique, standard footwork or heel-toe, you'll choke it on one bass drum head; the only way it won't choke is to play it on two bass drums.
my opinion is that wearing of shoes while demostrating is the proper way because you do not wear socks while playing especially in the open with audience. just a suggestion. keep up the good work. more power to you.....
Geez, cramming your foot in by lifting up your toes. It's definitely time for some longboards. You'll be a lot more comfortable and able to play faster.
Nice video, I am trying to learn and control this technique!
I have a question, when you do the double stroke very fast, you seem to rotate your ankle a bit, or is it optical illusion because of the camera angle?
That double stroke roll is really impressive on the bass drum.. I've tried it before, but I couldn't get the technique but this really cleared things up and gave me some new ideas. Thanks
the heel toe tech. works with any size! I got 11-12 which still is pretty big, not 15 biiig, but it's possible! If u can't do it after 1 week, don't blame your feet but blame your technique! try different things! what some ppl might think is that u actually hit your HEEL down on the board which is not practical unless u have an Axis Longboard but it's dumb to practice like that! it's the rocking motion backwards that is the "heel motion" which really isn't involving the actual heel
are u seriously under the foolish impression that you can't play heeltoe with shoes on shortboards?! look up Tim Watersons videos on here YT where he explains AND demonstrates just how stupid and arrogant you are.
good work man.. one question is it confotable playing without shoes ı mean sometimes also ım playn like that but it tires me alot also ı feel like smthng missn u know :)
no your pedal isnt to short,.. watch the other video the 1 where its just the beater on thew practise thing,.. just do the techniqe and it will still work
hey, if ur the one playing this. Wats the tension on ur pedal (is it loose or tight) and wats the tension on the bass drum head (loose or tight)???? Thxs im really trying to get this down.... :)
Thanks for posting this instructional video...i though my feet where to big to do the heel toe technique..but i realise that it's the middle section that is used instead of literally the heel...sweet...Chears

Nice technique Man..., You must have
put in a lot of practice hours to get your
toes, to the ball of the foot and then heel method into one continuous motion......
Props to you bro!

I always play without shoes, even on stage.

It might be more comfortable without shoes, but it's bad for the your feet.

Infernalord 2 years ago
thanks...
Yes, I do a little rotation of the foot. Also there is some sort of waving motion of my foot. That's why I'm playing without shoes.
drummer77 2 years ago
wow, that makes me to wanna play drums ;D
i play heel toe as well, but only on a single pedal for fast triplets or doubles and it makes it really easy to play fast. (:
I200gI 2 years ago
Why do you play the pedal without shoes? Is more confortable?
jabasto 2 years ago
To most drummers. Plus, some can't do the heel-toe with their shoes on.
EPhontanilla 2 years ago
Why is it that almost everyone that I've seen doing heel toe on here is not wearing shoes? Is it impossible to do without shoes on or what?

lies! I wear 11-12 *some shoes dont seem to be the size they say?* I cant use heel toe on my pedals. Maybe if I had longboards.
drumminsteve 2 years ago
doesnt matter. I'm a 13 and I do heel toe on my iron cobra all day long. Dont blame your feet for faulty technique.
Sabiano 2 years ago
I can do heel toe all day without shoes. Try wearing big shoes on a regular sized pedal.
drumminsteve 2 years ago
uhm...I just said that's what I do!
Sabiano 2 years ago
1. You never said you wear shoes
2. I wasn't blaming my feet, I'm blaming my shoes. If I can do heel toe without my shoes wonderfully, but not with, thats saying something.
drumminsteve 2 years ago
1, never wear shoes?...what am I?! Some hobo living in a dumpster?!
2, the only thing that portrays is, as said, faulty technique.
Sabiano 2 years ago
You dont make much sense, lets see a video of you doing some heel toe on an average sized double bass pedal with shoes.

i hate heel toe.
MikeyFlorida 4 years ago
why would you hate heel toe?
thisbeadam 4 years ago
you lose too much contact with the pedal, and control goes with it.
MikeyFlorida 4 years ago
not with enough practice
thisbeadam 4 years ago
that's right - lot's of practice! it'll come to you, just stay relaxed so that the leg muscles don't cramp up.

hey, if ur the one playing this. Wats the tension on ur pedal (is it loose or tight) and wats the tension on the bass drum head (loose or tight)???? Thxs im really trying to get this down.... :)
mississaugarider 5 years ago
@ mississaugarider: The tension of my pedal springs are put to the middle position. Same goes for my bassdrum head.
In generall it's easier to play doubles on the bassdrum, if the BD heads are very tight, but I don't like the sound of a very tight bassdrum.

helpful indeed.nice doubles there!
