  • Also even comparing a piston engine to a rotary is downright stupid. Its like comparing oranges to giraffes. Nothing in common what so ever.

  • I am astonished about how little people know about rotary engines. This guy did nothing wrong.... leave it. A rotary NEEDS to have the piss revved out of it.... end of story. Also, stfu about backpressure this backpressure that. A rotary is not and never will be similar to a piston engine. It has a MUCH higher exhaust pulse, if you could figure out a way to not heatsoak the engine bay the best option for any rotary would be NO EXHAUST. It doesn't need any Damn backpressure at all!

  • @quincywisner1 with most turbo apps you go 3 inch. doesnt matter what it is. my buddy went 3 inch on his stang when he turboed it. Its just better back pressure wise.

  • @TheAddDeanVlog you do not want back pressure on turbo cars... thats why drag cars have there exhaust come right out the side of the car near the turbo about 12" of exhaust piping :)... the more back pressure you have the harder for the turbo to push exhaust gasses out

  • You idiot if i had blown an apex seal it would have fucked the whole housing and trust me you can tell when a rotary motor is only running on one rotor, maybe you have a piston motor that is mis-firing.

  • Well actually if u had a blown Apex it would only fuck the housing depending on what you were using, steel apex's have the tendency to destroy housings while ceramic's dont usually. And yes i have myself a 13B ty very much.

    Actually you're the idiot, a rotary will still continue to run even if one apex seal is blown, it will still fire on 2/3 faces of the rotor causing extreme damage to the housings because the apex seal pieces are flying around inside until they make there way out.

  • @LOLKNOOBS It would only run on 1 rotor face with 1 blown apex seal. However, once one apex seal goes, it usually takes out the rest of them anyway, so it's kind of a moot point.

    a blown apex seal will rattle around inside the housing and scratch everything to hell... and would make a racket.... a STUCK apex seal would cause a lot of misfiring and maybe some backfiring, but the car would run... what this car has is 6 apex seals... working just fine.

    Each apex seal completes 2 chambers, think about it... it would be running on 1 face, not 2... and there's nothing wrong with this engine.

  • right now i run with just the cat section, as the shop i had do some work lost all the hangars for the rear part of the exhaust.

    car will backfire loudly, and you will get exhaust gas into the cabin.

    so i just got a fuel injected 87 non turbo, and it runs like a champ. luckily i bought it from a kid who doesn't race, so the motor is still awesome

  • dude go fb 1979 - 1985 they were the lightest model released of the rx7's and i think it was 85 that had the 13b as well as the 12a but either engine are amazing both can withstand alot of crap i have a 12a and i love it

  • the 84-85 GSL-SE's came with 13B REI's. but most have the 12A, and GSL's have all 4 disc brakes, and LSD. i would take a GSL anyday over an FC but that just me.

  • yep i have a 12a fb gsl got it for 600 bucks and to be honest i agree with you they were the lightest model on the market for rx7 mine says its a curb weight of like 2100 pounds ive beent trying to sell mine cuz i want a dsm bad! im a dsm fan through and through lol

  • got mines for $500 bone stock running and everything. all i did was rebuild the carb do a 60K tune up and get it legal and i was done. 130K on the motor with 1 and only owner. so i call it a good deal

  • same here mines bone stock just did a carb rebuild and some minor work my intake manifold and o rings were bad so i had a coolant leak but thats been fixed

  • Well while you are bitching & carrying on, you all forgot what was actually happening with the turbo & why turbo timers are used!

    When the turbo comes on boost at what ever rpm its tuned/engineered for it spins up over 100,000rpm! Turning the engine off kills the oil pressure to the turbo, leaving it to spin dry at very high rpm, resulting in excessive, premature bearing & shaft wear!!!

    But hey its your engine & your keeping a mechanic in a job, so good on you because you know best! ;)

  • i really hope u warmed it before you revved it...if not, then, next time wait oh about one min or so before revving....nice sound tho.the revvs will be a little higher when cold, then they lower after time passes, to oh about 600-700rpm. this is to lube the rotors.
