  • ENJOYED THIS....I SURE MISS SEEING THEM....HAD THE PLEASURE A FEW TIMES

  • its dustin hoffman with fro and mustache

  • Den, Your amazing in everything I hear from you. Always!

  • Shel Silverstein, Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show and even Dustin Hoffman are all legends. Excellent film and drama.

  • Who Is Harry Kellerman And Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? (1971)

  • im really sorry, im a huge fan of silverstein`s songwriting..but thank god he didnt sing to much, but i still love him for the writing and contribution he made to music

  • @mmcestate oh, he sang tons! he has many albums that I enjoy greatly and would rather hear him sing his own songs than anyone else. He's so unapologetic with his joy and laughter and enthusiasm - knowing he had a "lousy" voice, but nothing could stop him! (But, It's okay that most don't dig his voice. As I always say; "Not everybody likes The Beatles, not everybody likes Beethoven, not everybody likes you or me".)

  • @RevSpike I know he's not fit for opera, but I really LIKE his singing and reciting - I agree with you some songs simply don't sound right, if he's not singing them. Who CAN recite "a peanutbutter sandwich" if not he... (pun intended) I always wonder what it is he stuffs in his mouth to sound like the trapped king... maybe it is a PB-sandwich :)

  • @mmcestate HEARD WORSE

  • shel silverstein

  • thats a young Dustin Hoffman isnt it??

  • ok sorry I see my mistake. Please don't bombard me with your nasty Nasi comments. I'm human and learning. Like the rest on the test.

  • Ok I'm sorry... but I had a hard time believeing that wasn't Dustin Hoffman in a fro with a guitar. Man am I wrong?

  • It IS Dustin Hoffman - this is the opening scene of his movie. It is called "Who is _____ and Why is everybody talking about him?" - and I cant remember the name. rented it on VHS years ago. been looking for this scene to get online to see Shel sing again.

  • Why is this film so hard to find on DVD?

  • Classic! Shel was one of a kind!

  • Shel is Jewish and missed a lot.He wrote a boy named Sue.Much talented man.gues hes rocking in heaven!

  • Wow that is so cool Shel Dennis Ray &Dustin. Thanks for the video.Love it. I remember watching that movie just to see DR Hook for a few seconds!LOL JL

  • AWESOME:)

  • Here is where it all started. Harry Kellermann film which started a great career of Dr.Hook.

    CHEERS PER

  • WOW! This was great! So wonderful to see Shel - a genius with just the right combination of warped insanity. I love his children's books too. He is sure missed! And to see a young Dustin was a treat as well. Thank you!

  • Excellent and rare thanks for posting

  • Man I never seen this before. GREAT !~

  • The title of this fim was "Who Is Harry Kellerman And Why Is He Saying Those Nasty Things About Me?"

It's about a songwriter who has a nervous breakdown.

  • I always thought Shel Silverstein was black.

  • does anybody know shel's ethnicity?? he looks so exotic!

  • Born in Chicago, Sept. 25, 1930 to parents of Hungarian descent.

  • Yes, Hungarian Jewish.

  • Even though Shel Silverstein wrote the majority of Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show's early material, he VERY rarely performed with them. Doctor Hook was only a five piece band at this time (1971) and soon to become seven (1972).

  • The first and last and only time we see Dustin Hoffman singing!

    Great!!!

  • WOW, this is amazing! Thanks for sharing this!

  • Vere rare in deed!

This is Dr.Hook in the very beginning, before they had record deal with CBS. This is taking from the film "Who is Harry Kellerman" Starring a young Dustin Hoffman. Shel Silverstein wrote the music to the film.

Ray Sawyer on bass and without his hat and Shel on stage!!! Very rare.

  • Rare indeed. Where on earth did this come from?!
