never mind i see we are not the only ones having this debate...wonder if it would be worth writing to the advertisers and asking them what the orignial script says...would be so good to get closure on this....LOL!!!!!!!!!
is it possible that the guy at the end says Doof (like short for doofus) instead of "Dave"? my hubby and i disagree so i'm just hoping someone can clarify?
@bluettebelle Yeah i was there a little over a month ago and strongly feel they should show a lot of their road commercials in australia.. they absolutely changed the way I use the road and think they'd be an awesome scare tactic for a lot of young australian drivers who undoubtably disregard the fact that the slightest mistake could end a life.
Yeah, they are very effective. Ours just kind of suck :/ theyre more a joke than anything. I just know its stupid, I dont have more than a drink or two unless i know im staying put for the night, even though i can have five and still function well enough, i just dont like not being fully in control of myself.
I have never been to Noua Zeelandă but I would love to. Perhaps the company who produced this can come to Romania and help make us an excellent warning video like this.
Well done to Noua Zeelandă!! Romania get your fucking act together and produce us an excellent show like the UK, Noua Zeelandă and other serious comabatting drink driving, cell phone while driving countries.
Come on Elena Udrea and Emil Boc where the fuck our our serious and hugely important videos that are mean't to help scare off drink driving, cell phone use while driving and other car related accidents.
I am Romanian. I commend Noua Zeelandă for these ads.
They are all mates in the beginning. And one of the mates is the elected designated driver, which makes him a good mate. However, he is secretly sneaking drinks during the evening. They get into an accident, and the next day are not happy to see him since he was supposed to stay sober. He let his mates down.
Not to mention that in the NZ Youth Male culture, the word 'mate' has an indefinite number of meanings, based on context and intonation. At the end of the ad, the driver says "Mate." to his friend in the manner of "Hey, hows it going?". This friendship is immediately rebuked when the friend replies with "Dave." implying the same, but showing that he wont be so casual around him anymore. Hope this helps lol.
Yeah it was. Not sure if you're a kiwi but "mate" is a pretty common term when you're speaking to someone. It's actually more common than using a persons name a lot of the time so to go from "mate" to "dave" shows how far he's been separated from his friends. He's not one of them anymore. He's just someone who killed their real mate
