No discrimination based on identity should be tolerated, true, but an individual who is part of the power structure who is treated unfairly suffers as an individual (again, not good). But when a minority member is treated unfairly, the GROUP suffers because it perpetuates a lack of job, educational, etc. opportunities that the power structure members routinely enjoys.
