Dude. This is insanely powerful. In my life I don't think I have seen a purer display of someone following the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. I pray to God I am never put in his position, but if I ever am I can only hope that I honor the teachings of the Savior like this man has.
That is truly amazing. I like to think that I would be able to do the same thing but I'm not sure. He must be a truly wonderful person and I'm just sorry that he had to lose his daughter
When I fist saw this, I was amazed at how much strength it must have taken to forgive the man who killed your daughter. I hope I never have to go thru what he did, but if I do, I can't say I would be that strong.....
I admire this man so much. It took a lot for him to get up there and do that, and I don't know if I could do it. I'd like to think that I could though.
Wow I admire RobertRule, a man of courage,, We should all be able to forgive, even though it is really hard and can seem impossible.... but as history showed it to us, hatress and revenge aren't solutions and did never solve the problems but made them even worse..
Well a true way and form of justice that I believe and I know many others would 2 and to take out all types of pychopath sociopathic killers and the 1s who torture and rape if we did that many would sleep better.
I think it's funny how ignorant those people were. "He's an animal"and "I wish for him a long, suffering, cruel death", hell if I was Gary, I'd be laughing at how stupid those people were. They're like children trying get to him by saying typical stuff, he's a fucking sociopath that would kill any woman that he thought was a prostitute. I'm an atheist and what that christian did was clever.
You're a piece of shit. Those people sayin those things to that monster are family members of the people he brutally raped, tortured and killed, and you call them stupid for being angry at him?
DO the world a favor and kill yourself so you end up like Ridgway. You're a scumbag.
i think he cried because intense hatred was what drove him, once he was engaged like a human being it was like he was forced to lower his guard and fathom his own cruelty.
Thumbs down me if you "Honestly" did not get a lump in your throat watching this. A lesson for us all but such a hard one to do. Great video, thanks for sharing.
He represents that rare kind that actually understands the true words of Jesus Christ. Aslong as these humans are rare War and hatred around the world will continue.
@TinyArts i don't believe that i could have forgiven so easily it probably would have taken me years-this Green River dude seems like he is in another world-
As reflexively touched as I was by this father, it disturbs me how he and almost everyone commenting seem to exclusively make a virtue out of forgiveness. Sure, in many cases it is a beautiful thing, but there are cases where it shouldn't be given. Undeserved forgiveness is not virtuous and there are other ways of expressing "good" intent. Wish people would get their heads out of the ass of religious dogma
@thegirl44 What? Burden? Sounds like semantic trickery to me. While I can't help admiring the father's intent, the man doesn't deserve forgiveness. And there are situations where in my mind granting it is offensive to the victim, this being one of them. Why is forgiving always such a wonderful thing?
I don't think that he was forgiving Ridgeway for Ridgeway's sake, I think that Mr. Rule was doing it for himself, hence, the burden.
In certain societies at certain times the punishment for murder was to have the body of your victim tied to you so that you had to carry it around until you, yourself, expired. The only way out of this punishment was for the family of the deceased to excuse you of it. I would imagine that this happened often so that loved ones could be laid to rest.
@matrixtrace "Mr. Ridgway, umm... there are people here that... hate you. I'm not one of them. You have made it difficult... to live up to... what I believe, and that is... what God says to do and that's to forgive. You are forgiven, sir.
I can honestly say hes a better man then I am. After all the pain that guy caused to be able to look him in the eye and say your forgiven must have taken more strength then most people can hope to attain.
Loving words that hurt like fuck. Isn't it ironic that words of kindness can penetrate deeper than words of spite and hatred in this circumstance. The old man cut right into him without even realising it.
Now that is what Jesus seeks out! That isnt easy to do, but its easy to see Jesus in him. This is wonderful, we lack so many ppl willing to totally give themselves to Jesus, he wants ALL of us, not partial.
if more people were forgiving no matter what the circumstances it would probally be better for all of us.. though thats a pretty loaded sounding statement when your not going through what a victim is going through... i guess thats the challenge of life
I understand why mostly everyone would be saying something along the lines of "I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO BURN IN HELL" or something.. But in the end, everyone deserves a second chance, and it takes a very intelligent and altruistic person so realize this - on a scale much larger than the average person. I can see why you people don't understand this, and that's okay, but damning people to hell and really wishing that kind of negativity serves no purpose.
yeah sit on your high horse " I can see why you people don't understand this" how'd u feel if he'd killed ur family you saying everyone deserves a second chance in this context makes me feel physically sick clearly he didn't make a mistake it wasn't a murder out of passion or emotion it was cold calculated bloody ripping apart of good people what that man said was purely amazing but that coward never deserves a second chance
I'm talking about eternity. I'm referring to the religious people here hoping he spends eternity in hell, if it even exists (but that's beside the point). I find it disgusting that anyone would wish that upon another person, no matter how cruel that person is.
I was agreeing with you. The people wishing individuals like Ridgeway to hell have essentially made their own hell on earth by carrying ariound all of that hate, haven't they?
@Jameshable but not everyone deserves a 72nd chance, given this man allegedly murdered at least 71 women. No, this was a cold sociopath, and to forgive that is in my view offensive to all his victims.
Unfortunately, you guys didn't see the clip where Robert Rule AKA Santa talks to the coroner in the hallway, and while Ridgeway is escorted down the corridor, Rule screams, "Let me at the sunovabitch. I'm gonna chop your balls off, Ridgeway!!"
"I am an lazy thinker" Theres something in your message that says "i no use good grammar". Get off my nuts, this man is a killer fuck his views, and fuck yours too i dont give a fuck what you think about me.
he got more than he could bargain for when the father forgave him,,, he has to live with the face that he was forgiven...not expected... and that will haunt him the rest of his days.....
I look at that the father was not so much up there for his daughter but more so for Gary and by saying that hegave Gary Ridgeway The Green River Killer a conscience.
id cut Gary Ridgway's nuts off. and hang that mother fucker upside down. and blaze him on fire thats just how i roll, its not who i am its how i am. fuck with my family like this guy did to there familys i wouldn't forgive him. that fuck would be in my hands. and the devil would soon start his way with him when im done...
There seems to be an incredible sense of relief from this kind man. To be able to forgive someone who has so heinously slaughtered someones mother, daughter, friend. I do not think I could do it. As for those who say his daughter is screaming from her grave. How would you know that? I would hope she's moved on to a better place and doesn't have to think about how she was killed, only that she is loved.
Yes it is unreasonable - but is´nt it what forgiveness is all about? And by forgive him he as the only of those people go out of that courtroom as a free man. Free from the ghost of the past - free from the hate that only can do one thing: Destroy.
This man claimed he killed so many women he "lost track." He has admitted to 48 but there are many more. Conservative estimates put his total death toll at close to 100. He is a true sociopath. Linda Rule was 16 years old when he raped her, and then stood on her neck until she suffocated. If someone killed my child that wya, or any way, I could not have done what her father just did.
I would be saddened for anyone who has been devoured inside like Gary, and the ones he affected so blatantly as I surely am. Mr. Rule knows who he is as his faith testifies thusly. There was an exchange in that courtroom. Those who are no stranger to pain quite possibly know the value of forgiveness. Mr.Rule had a pile of stones to throw, but he didn't throw one. Forgiveness is how "closure" is achieved.
Most people don't beleive there is a Santa Clause. I think the surprise look on his made him a beleiver of alot of things such as God, the tooth fairy, The GOD Father, The Easter Bunny and HELL. That was made him cry because it took Santa to tell him
i kind of feel for him though, the way he had a normal life. his brain was wired wrong and i don't think he had any control over it. very sad for everyone.
The world needs people who can tell people that they're beautiful when the world tells them to "burn in hell." Do not condemn a man for loving another individual. Do not condemn a man for forgiving Gary Ridgeway. Do not call Robert Rule "dumb" for acting with love instead of hatred. Do not call love wrong. I believe that we can all learn from Robert Rule. He is a man of incredible courage.
This is the love that transforms people. How can we change the world for the better if we act with hatred? We cannot. Hatred produces responses like Gary Ridgeway's. Hatred produces murderers, drug addicts, prostitutes, porn stars etc. Love produces forgiveness. Love produces people who care for others and love produces self-lessness. The world needs love.
Most people don't understand the concept of unconditional love. Gary Ridgeway had no understanding of it either and he killed 48 women. The world needs more people like Robert Rule, who stood face to face with his daughter's murderer and condemned him not. This my friends is a glimpse of what Christ did for us on the cross. The only time he ever showed any emotion at all was here. maybe he wanted to be forgiven and that made him emotional. But that doesn't change his views on prostitutes and his self proclaimed need to control women to the point of murder. He admitted his guilt to save his own life and avoid the death penalty. It sucks that he even had a choice in the matter.
You are all idiots. This is why America's serial killers are increasing every year. Here, the religious stuff worked indeed.Instead of going for the penalty with pride and feeling like a hero, he felt like shit and he seems to regrets what he did. So all you cocky bastards, stop saying b*^shit because your sister or mother can be killed by such a psych loser like Gary.
bless the old man for his belief and forgiveness even though his daughter had been killed. That took a lot of courage, not a lot of people can forgive under such circumstances.
Its kind of weird that a guy like that could make Dahmer, Bundy, and Gacy seem harmless after killing all those women. They always say that you can't judge a book by its cover.
Yeah you're right! The father of the victim is crazy with his f****g religion and Ridgway is so pathetic when he starts crying. The perfect psychopath who shows something emotionnal only when someone talks about HIM and not one of his victims!
It's called forgiveness. Something you're obviously lacking. It doesn't have to do with religion. If you want someone to be killed, it makes you sound no better.
Dude. This is insanely powerful. In my life I don't think I have seen a purer display of someone following the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. I pray to God I am never put in his position, but if I ever am I can only hope that I honor the teachings of the Savior like this man has.

The perfect psychopath who shows something emotionnal only when someone talks about HIM and not one of his victims!

i dislike religion to. its man made. god has nothing to to with religion. just so you know

It's called forgiveness. Something you're obviously lacking. It doesn't have to do with religion. If you want someone to be killed, it makes you sound no better.
