Damita Jo flopped commercially and critically because it was released on the heels of her Superbowl disaster. Her DJ singles were virtually ignored by many radio stations, and MTV refused to air her music videos (although vh1, mtv jams etc did air them). And the album DID go platinum, and it did sell well, just not as well as her others, so that's why it's considered a flop. Critic's unfairly judged the album and it's sexual content based on the Superbowl debacle.
Janet's music is always contemporary no matter what year it is. I haven't heard this song for awhile because it got deleted from my iPod and I never got it back I almost cried when I heard the beginning melodies. Her layers of harmony is like OMG... If she only made a song with harmonies and background that'd be fine with me.

Nevertheless, she is and will always be in that part of my heart where only my favorite artists are permitted. Artists like: Whitney, S. Wonder, Isleys, Natalie, Aretha, Chaka, EWF. J. Brown, Delfonics, Stairsteps, M. Wells and the Marvelettes. Old School yes but they all paved the way!
This was a good album, well produced. Its just a shame it didn't do that well because it dropped after her superbowl malfunction, and she was catching a lot of flack for that. I really like this track. Once again, well produced.
