Looks old but interesting and a slight copy of The Lord of the Rings. Then again, what fantasy-based film or book isn't these days? Still, it looks rather cool so I think I'll watch it. Rent it from the local library maybe.

@December2012Junkie Actually, the movie is based on an old legend which inspired Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings. At least the part about the Ring. He drew his influences from many sources.

@December2012Junkie Ehhh This movie is based on the Nibelungen-saga which is (at least the most known version) from the year 1200. It's a very old german saga which takes place in a lot of cities that still exist. To say that it is a rip-off of the Lord of the Rings is just.. ehh wrong.

This movie is from an epic poem that takes place, in part, in my home town of Worms Germany...it is a fascinating poem of love, power, betrayal and revenge, this movie did not do this historical poem justice.

It's a Germanic folktale, pupular enough to be told in Iceland and the Scandinavian countries as well. Although they usually didn't tell stories that weren't located in their own country.

what a stupid title, whoever translated this should be killed. this movie is great. magic and treachery have allways betrayed the greatest and the noblest. that is why i have become friends with magic, but im begining to regret it. Odin how do you do it? how did you tame magic?

not a bad rendition for modern times. fritz langs epic is on another level but its still good. they finally found a beautifull brunhilde not some ugly had. siegrfried looks a little like chevy chase lol but thats ok. unfortunatly movies like this is all we have of our glory. now the world belongs to the scum

The story, dynamics, acting, fight scenes, cinematography, and visual effects of this movie are spectacular.

It's like a hidden story of Nordic legend wrapped into an epic movie.

Actually found out later that there was an opera, Brinhelda, that sparked this movie.

My only complaint is that the dialogue can be very cheesy at times.

i.e. Brinelda crying, "We've only been married for one day!!!"

Good. Needs better dialogue. Personal opinion... :/

Why´s Sigfried fighting with the dragon? All he did was hide in a hole in the ground and waited until the dragon crept out of the cave...

@Lilithly ... to understand how he did it, just read the original story. Basicly, he hid in a hole in the ground, just outside the cave's entrance. When the dragon crept out, he cut it's throat and it's blood filled the hole Sigfried was in.

The movie has different names, as most movies do. This movie was released as a mini series in the US, known as Dark Kingdom - The Dragon King, but was known as Ring of the Nibelungs in other parts of the world. Most movies/series have various names depending where they release.
