  • wow .. cant rly see your fingers when they are pressing the keyboard horizontaly and u got crappy camera, and i cant read notes .. but since theres no other tutorial .. ill try see what are the notes

  • You have different sheets?

  • Thank you so much for doing this, I just love this and what a lot of work to figure it out by ear! Thanks!

  • right hand incorrect at 00:17

  • very helpful but I think you listed a few notes wrong even as you played it like at 0:05 the notes list for the right had are CDC but you played CEC, but other than minor things like that I think its great :) thanks

  • House is playing a tune at the end of season 5 episode 15...can someone tell me what is the name of the song

  • very helpful thanks :)

  • Amazing tutorial, thanks a bunch man!

  • Thanks a lot for this. I love it.

  • merci pour ce petit cour de piano, maintenant j'y arrive !!!

  • Do not exsist any score? :(

  • this song is amazing..im enchanted

  • esto suena estupendo, gracias por subir el video, saludos desde teziutlan, puebla, mexico!!

  • this is a great vid! thanks for uploading it helped alot

  • you have a lot of 'D's in the notation where you actually play 'E's. the E is the correct one

  • can somene tell me the name of song

  • you play it differently than you wrote it

  • @lespaulpride11 yes,i actually changed some things while transcribing it. it felt more accurate the way i transcribed it. so... try sticking to the sheets instead of this video. they were only minor changes though...

  • After listening to Life & Death and loving it so much.... I've just downloaded this as well. It's lovely. Thank you again!

  • This is fantastic. I've been in love with this tune ever since I heard it on House. I started learning to play piano only a few weeks ago and this is the one piece I really want to learn to play. Thank you so much for the video. You've made my day!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=bqeljb0KU3w

This is my cover of this song (House & Patrick's duet) that I learnt from this video. I would love if I could get some feedback on it. :)

  • cool.

  • That isnt quite how its played......

  • Merci beaucoup !!! ^.^

  • Great video, its rare to find someone on youtube who actually backs their videos up with sheet music. Having said that, and meaning no disrespect, i found some notational errors in your transcription, nothing serious, but, for example, A# should be Bflat most of the time, since the tonic is C, and its for the most part fluctuating between tonic and a minor dominant, being the chord G minor, which has a Bflat. So just enharmonics, lol nothing serious. Great vid!

  • great video. nice work

  • From the video clip in the TV show, it sounds like the first bar at the bottom of the page on the LH consists variation of C sharp major and not G sharp major again. I knew it was different so listened to it a few more times. Only couple of people posted their recording on youtube actually played it that way.

  • Thank you so much! I almost had this on my own, but couldn't get the B-section. It is such a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.

  • I manage to download only the first page from (.jpg)... I think the sheet is not only one page... where's the next??

  • It only covers one page, it's not a long piece!

I can't wait to learn this! Thanks for the sheet music.

  • a lot of different notes in the sheet compared to what you are actually playing. got a revised sheet?

  • i transcribed it like 6 months later... so i had a lot of time to make corrections. thats all =)

  • uh typo in the first measure

  • Ohhh... thank you man !

  • it is not D... it's E...

  • Thank you for sheet music and tutorial! It's excellent!

  • thank you so much for the tab! saw this episode on television yesterday and instantly loved the song. can't wait to play it on my own:-)

  • this is perfect! Thanks!

  • exellent, just downloaded the sheet music you transcribed!

  • wow... day 3 on a cheap keyboard... and im getting it already... this lesson is NIIICE

  • how does the song beofre this on the episdoe go

  • Comment removed

  • thank you soo much for this! :)

  • The notes is right, but in the video is 'E' instead 3-d 'D' in first and second measure (beat).

  • Awesome, nice job and thanks.

  • wonderfully! Thanks for notes, man!

  • Thanks you for you help !!

  • is there a slower version?

  • i havent seen slower than this, but you could just download&print the sheet music she transcribed, thats what i did :)

  • oh ok, thank you! :)

  • no problem :)

  • I have a composition that i made myself and my friends want the sheet music, but i dont know how to transcribe it (without righting everything down)... how do you guys do that? Oh and thanks for the tutorial and sheet music!

  • It depends on kind of instrument you have. If you use digital piano sheet could be generated by special software.

  • Amazing

  • thnx for the upload..it really helped..:)....

  • yehey!!!

  • the bit where you say this part is basically the same, what's different?

how do you create a lower tone?

  • Hia x Thanks For Uploading I Checked Out The Sheet Music And I Was Wondering If You Could Do I Dont LIke Monday As Wel x x:D x

  • just search google or look at some of the other videos. Im only a moderate player and i figured it out

  • YAY! Thanks for the transcibed version! I always wanted it. THANKS A BUNCH!

  • Do a slower one. Its hard to see what fingers are hitting keys

  • that's why he wrote the notesin the vid ...

  • Isn't it an E and not a D on the last chord on the first two "sheets" on the top?

  • later in the same episode, while house is doing an MRI on Patrick, he tells patrick to pretend that he is playing piano with his hands. what is the name of the song that plays while patrick is pretending to play?? somebody please help me!

  • The song patricks pretends to play on his leg is "Waldstein" sonata, mvt. 3 from Beethoven

  • If you have the actual sheet music for this could you please send it to me. Thanks so much.

  • thank you !!!

    beautiful!!!!!!!

  • thank you!

what about blues riff in 04x09? sounds cool too. could you transcribe it?

  • thanks from germany ^.^

  • great , thanks man :)

  • excelllente

  • also noticee that lol..

  • gratias!

  • very good!

  • Thanks so much :)

  • Fajnie, ale może ma ktoś nuty do tego?

  • on the first bit with the left hand thats not the A# its B#, you have pressed the right one just wrote the wrong one down

  • No, it's B flat. A # the same thing as B flat.

  • It's A sharp, which can also be called B flat. B sharp doesn't exist.

  • Its not crappy...I like it

and it helps me a lot

    thanks!!!

I have all the song, I just need practice more.

    thanks again!!!!

  • I luved this episode it was really great.x

whenever Hugh Laurie plays the piano or guitar or something (especially the piano) you can tell that he's actually feeling the music and not just playing it <3

  • i love this melody andthis is an amaizing way to learn. thank you soo mutch!! :)

  • this is the perfect way for me to learn.. i love how you did the notes on the screen as you played.. this helps us that cant read notes!!! thanks so much for this.. you should do more tutorials just like this with the letters shown! thanks again!

  • first two times for right hand you play with an E instead of a D like you put on screen

  • oh ok someone caught this too, here i was thinking i was crazy. =)

  • Hmm, it looks like a D to me, just played with the side of the thumb and on the right edge of the D the first time, and more in the centre of the D the second time.

  • it sounds like youre wrong.

  • Thank you for this, I'm gonna try it tomorrow

  • No, seriously...write and upload the sheet music and I'll be able to do it. Haha.

  • Thank you mdrmml, it's beautiful! But all we really need a sheet music in order to learn this perfect composition. Hop you understand that!

Please, write them down and upload, there will be a plenty of grateful people...!

  • really good but it took some time for me to notice that the text was notes:P i thought it was dates

  • THis is beautiful ! i really love it, is it hugh laurie whos written it?

  • No, some guy named Jon Ehrlich.

  • thank you so much for doing this! its amazing!!

  • nevermind, i think its in C. correct me if im wrong

  • what key is this in? i cant tell

  • How did tune your piano to sound like that?

  • thankyou so much !

but just a little fault ,

in the first scene the right hand is :

    G C

    D D E C

  • Thank you soooo much for this tutorial! I'm too lazy to figure out the notes myself! Thank you thank you thank you! : )

  • Hello I'm French and you play very fast and i 'don't learn to play can you play more slow

  • wowowowow soo awsome been looking for this for years! realy realy easy to understand thank u soo much!

  • thanks so much for doing this...i've been wanting to figure out how to play this ;)

  • sorry about the fact that i mentioned the mistake you made that several other people must have pointed out by now.

to stop unwanted comments in the future you should state the mistake in your info box or something like that

  • in your second chord on the right hand, where you typed that you played CDC, you actually played CEC which is correct

  • where can i download sheets for this song????????

  • can i send me in midi or pdf?

  • what's the name of this song??????

  • this makes little sense, but i don't know the piano like that, is it possible to put it in order right to left

  • left to right, sorry

  • it is in left to right R.H means right hand L.H means left hand it looks kinda like it would on sheet music but instead the the chart there is a note which is much easier to understand. and anything stack ontop of another is played at the same time hoe this helped any and yes i realize this is 2 weeks late XD

  • this is actually really really easy to understand. thanks so much for doing this

  • um sorry but that was not me,

i must have lift myself sign in at someones else computer

  • thanks for forgetting about the E, gave me hell figuring why playing the notes you posted wasn' matching with what you were actually playing.

  • ehm... you are welcome.. i guess??

  • *hearing. wow i type too fast lol.

  • is there any way to get sheet music for this? i'm not good at learning through watching, but rather reading and heading. thanks so much :]

  • could u please post the sheet music u used to play this? please!

  • i cant play piiano at all, but i'd like to learn this

at the start is it righthand hit the keys gd then d then cd

  • running to get my keyboard now!

  • I can play it now!!! Yes!

    Thanks a lot!!=D

  • you're welcome.. im glad you can play it now =)

  • It's great that you write the keys! A great job, thank you.

  • Someone else already said it, but this is the first time someone played it like House and Matthews did. Well done. Thanks for the video.

Sheet Music would be a bonus if not to much trouble. Sibelius or Finale are both really good programs, even NoteWorthy Composer will do. Thanks.

  • this is great! Thanks a lot!!!

  • You' re great!! You are the first one who played the song perfectly!!! It sounds just the same...!

  • PLEASEEEEE put a link for sheet music or somethinggggg i really want ittttt

  • its great!! can you put it in sheet music??

  • nicely done with the notes above ;-)

  • Very nice! If you could transcribe this to sheet music, I'd LOVE you! XD!

  • Thank you!!thank you so much!!

  • This was so much help! Thanks!

I do have one correction, though. On the first measure, you put the last chord as C D C, and it should be C E C. I was watching your fingers.

    Thanks again!

  • Ok... i've been asked quite a few times for the transcription of this song... Sooo... ill work on it... just need some time...if you want it just let me know.. and probably ill be uploading another tutorial.. one thats easier to understand.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I've been looking for a video that would show me how to play this beautiful piece of music from the best show on TV. FINALLY, someone has put it in a video that I can actually see the keys which are being hit, and even provided a "cheat sheet" to accompany. You rock.

  • Great job mdrmml.... Your tutorial was well thought of... the way you put the leading notes and then the playing together part.. Great job, but on a more critical note, you definitely need a better camera ;) ....

  • I actually think it has more to do with the lighting... this one has an undertaker tone to it... but your previous vid where you actually played it was bright and cheery :) ... but 10/10 for the playing part .....

  • trust me.. im already looking for a new camera.. i think im buying a handycam dvd.. just searching for a good one.. but thnx for the advice.

  • uhm...i'm kinda confused with the second part the one with the C & G sharp on the right hand i tried playing it but it doesn't sound right...

  • this is complicatet..

  • NIce Tutorial but it seems to me where you write a flat, you play a b flat no?

  • thanks for the great tutorial...

  • Great tutorial and great thinking to come up with it. I'm an ex-pianist (for like a year :P) turned drummer so I like things simple, but this just makes me wish I was as pro as Hugh.

Only problem I have is that the first right hand part should be GD/D/CEC rather than CDC. Otherwise bravo and thank you!

  • damn.. you're right... i played it ok though.. weird...sorry about that..

  • Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I love it, you did great on it! Thanks!

  • i love this song thanks for doing this tutorial
