@cks796 "Stock greddy turbo" means the stock turbo that comes with the greddy kit. Nothing ambiguous about that. There are a half dozen upgrades to the greddy kit. I like the 3071R that MM makes. The description of "stock" is to show it's using the crappy tiny snail that comes with that kit - which only works up to 6 psi. Any higher and it's going to drop off fast once you get to the higher rpm due to the design of the kit only being good for 6 psi.
Just a few mistypes in your comment boxes on the video or I read them wrong. You said that it came "stock" with a Greddy Turbo. RX8's are Renesis motors and are N/A. They do not come stock with a Turbo from Mazda. Also, you say the "high power" RX8's come stock with 232hp "at the crank". Mazda made only one size motor that I know of for the RX8 during the first generation designs and that was the 1.3 liter Rotary Engine. That and RX8's don't have "Cranks" because the motor isn't a piston engine.

There is a 4 port, and a 6 port renesis. Crank horse power is describing power the engine produces without drive train loss.
what engine was that in stock 192hp or 240hp? cause my rx does 337hp with greddy... stock 243hp... running CAI sistem with intercooler and freeflow exhaust... rolling on 19" rims... you should ger a bit more out of it...
@tyrannical i did not do a dyno on stock specs because i already had CAI and catback... bat then i put on turbo and freeflow exhaust and intercooler +bow... now i have it limited around 280-290... more than enough for my needs... but max was tested at 337hp... next month i get new injectors and iridium spark plugs and i will wisit the dyno again and make some vids...
you got me on that one... my father did the upgrade but i think it is the 22cm or smt. in that way... dont laugh cause i dont know :P when we will change the injectors and spark plugs i will look in the turbo what is says... and i will also go over on the other dyno table to compare... maybe just a uncalibrated table...

@widowedeight engine size doesnt matter, people just use that as an excuse for their lack of power. fact is, the outter dimensions of the motor dont determine cubic inch or litres. its whats on the inside, that is why a chevy 305 (5.0) and a chevy 400 (6.6) are the exact same size engine, just a bigger bore and stroke on the inside. the 13b is about the same size as a 4 cylinder, compare it to an s2000 engine.

BUT higher displacement is just EASIER to make more power. and you can make more, in the end.
stock manual rx8 (high power engine) makes around 180-190 whp (wheel horse power). So 8-9 psi on the greddy turbo increases it to 275 range. And if you do 14 psi on a 3071R you will get around 340 whp range. A gain of almost 100% over stock.
Yes, if you google it, you will see the stock fuel pump is frequently clogged and is a common issue even on stock RX-8's. At the time of this video, the car was 3 years old and was highly modified.
What are you talking about? This car NA (stock) makes close to the same power as a TT RX-7 (stock). You can hit over 400 whp with the stock rx-8 engine, more if you push it.
What are you talking about? The NA version makes 220 bhp, the Last production year of the FD3s with the 13b-REW produced 276 bhp. Thats not close to the same power my friend.
A stock RX8 makes around 180-190 whp. A stock 1993 RX7 makes around 230 whp. The disparity gets far worse when you compare any rotary car in NA form to the RX8.
I think the octane number is how many % the gas is resistant to lighting it self on fire, I'm not sure, but I read something like that somewhere, but I don't remember when.

Your idle should remain unchanged from stock. If idle has changed, you have an issue with something like vacuum leak from a coupler, vacuum hose, etc.

Yeah that happens alot of places, people dont realise that usaully its the apex seals and someone whos familiar with the engine and has a "hold it guy" can replace those in 4-5 hours. Really a damn shame they get such a reputation.

You realize that PSI is meaningless, right? Pressure doesn't determine power levels. It's FLOW that does it. Additionally, you also forget to factor in the compression ratio of the engine.

yeah, turbo is undersized if you try going over 6 psi. it's as safe as the tune, but the turbo seems prone to overboosting randomly. I had much better experience with a GT3071R.
Yeah, but you're comparing a car thats almost 10+ years older than the 8. Of course things are old and will fail for the older car. But im on the 8 forum, there are ALOT of problems those cars have too, and they are NA!
No car is better. Both rx's are made for same but different purposes if that makes sense. The rx7 (im assuming you're thinking about the FD) is a pure track car. The engine can make alot of power, and handles like a charm. The rx8 is more of a modern daily driver that you can still have fun at the track on the weekend. The power output isnt impressive though. I dont think it handles better than the FD. When you compare FD brand new and rx8 brand new, FD handles better. .98g vs the 8's .88g
In stock form, the skidpad is one of the parameters used when testing cars. Its a general idea of what the car can do. You're right tire plays a huge role but if a car does so well with crap tires, imagine even better tires? Not saying the 8 handles like crap, just not as well as the FD. And numbers prove that.
No its not, rem that not only to tires play a role but body roll as well, and that means having a well balanced weight through out the car as well as a stiff chasis. the rx7 is a better competitor than rx8 simply cos it accomplishes the purspose it was made for. rx7 was made to compete with the 911 and so it did.. rx8 was made to compete with the g35's and 350z's and so it does.
skidpad is definately a good measure, because it tell you how far off the limit you can push the car

rx8s do have a crank. It is different then a piston crank but still a crank none the less. The timing on the spark comes from a CRANK angle sensor.

272 = 9 psi on a small turbo. It made 306 whp with a 3071R turbo. At 16 psi you should be close to 400 whp.

A stock RX8 makes around 180-190 whp. A stock 1993 RX7 makes around 230 whp. The disparity gets far worse when you compare any rotary car in NA form to the RX8.

I think the octane number is how many % the gas is resistant to lighting it self on fire, I'm not sure, but I read something like that somewhere, but I don't remember when.

actually homie the way they rate gas here in america is different than europe so we are actually using the same octane gas our is just calculated diffrent :) play again though

Your idle should remain unchanged from stock. If idle has changed, you have an issue with something like vacuum leak from a coupler, vacuum hose, etc.

ya know the engine doesnt move not becasue its so smooth...the engine tranny and i believe the diff as well are mounted solid to the car...no rubber squishies in between cuz there is no need.

Too bad I cant afford engine replacements in the Rx-8 because the assholes in my countrys dont understand the engine so every time there is a problem the engine gets replaced. Nice car though...

Yeah that happens alot of places, people dont realise that usaully its the apex seals and someone whos familiar with the engine and has a "hold it guy" can replace those in 4-5 hours. Really a damn shame they get such a reputation.

you need a bigger turbo buddy...the 2.0l can handle a SHITLOAD of boost (you can run 1bar no worries)...ive seen MUCH quicker no offence...still very cool but :) (Y)

You realize that PSI is meaningless, right? Pressure doesn't determine power levels. It's FLOW that does it. Additionally, you also forget to factor in the compression ratio of the engine.

yeah, turbo is undersized if you try going over 6 psi. it's as safe as the tune, but the turbo seems prone to overboosting randomly. I had much better experience with a GT3071R.

Yeah, but you're comparing a car thats almost 10+ years older than the 8. Of course things are old and will fail for the older car. But im on the 8 forum, there are ALOT of problems those cars have too, and they are NA!

well rx7 has more potential in regards to power. Rx8 has a more reliable engine and handles better from the factory.

No car is better. Both rx's are made for same but different purposes if that makes sense. The rx7 (im assuming you're thinking about the FD) is a pure track car. The engine can make alot of power, and handles like a charm. The rx8 is more of a modern daily driver that you can still have fun at the track on the weekend. The power output isnt impressive though. I dont think it handles better than the FD. When you compare FD brand new and rx8 brand new, FD handles better. .98g vs the 8's .88g

In stock form, the skidpad is one of the parameters used when testing cars. Its a general idea of what the car can do. You're right tire plays a huge role but if a car does so well with crap tires, imagine even better tires? Not saying the 8 handles like crap, just not as well as the FD. And numbers prove that.

The stock tires on the rx-8 have a wear rating of 130. They typically last 15,000 miles before needing to be replaced :)

No its not, rem that not only to tires play a role but body roll as well, and that means having a well balanced weight through out the car as well as a stiff chasis. the rx7 is a better competitor than rx8 simply cos it accomplishes the purspose it was made for. rx7 was made to compete with the 911 and so it did.. rx8 was made to compete with the g35's and 350z's and so it does.
skidpad is definately a good measure, because it tell you how far off the limit you can push the car
