The fact that the mainstream is shit isn't so bad because mainstream music is shit 99% of the time. What's even worse is that there isn't even that much really good underground stuff anymore. There are a few decent scenes worldwide, but nothing much - most "indie" bands are just whiny white boys with tight jeans and acoustic guitars.

@Maztercutor14 I lived in Auckland (New Zealand) for the past year and I can say there's some great stuff coming from there - check out MUZAI Records for a taster. Leeds in England is pretty good as well, especially Dinosaur Pile Up.
