I have 2 macaws and they have Never sent me to the hospital for a bite !!! My girlfriend has a Very vicious amazon parrot thats always trying to bite me and she believes like I do that the msaller the bird the harder and more frequent the bites mikejessmax !!! So your pretty safe dude ;)

Do you have any advice on how I should go about looking into getting one of these beautiful gentle giants??

Start with local vets that works with hyacinths. They are usually aware of breeders who provide strong & healthy chicks. If you have a choice, choose a breeder near enough that you can visit your baby hyacinth often until they are weaned. Don't forget to check with your local Parrot Rescues and Sanctuaries. Even though they may not have a Hyacinth Macaw, there are soooooo many parrots that desperately need a new forever home... I wanted one of those and my husband too, but we couldn't afford them. We got a Green Cheek COnure and Ernie bites like he's defending his life, so I said I ain't getting a bigger brid that will clearly send me to the hospital from a bite.

AWW! I wish I could have one of those guys, but they are pretty expensive.
