As indicated by the internal Ford documents that came out, the heightened risk to the driver due to fire was not a deliberate effect. It wasn't a business plan, it was a mistake and it eventually led to a mass recall once the issue was made public. If it wasn't a mistake they wouldn't have opted to try to pay off potential lawsuits, as it was understood that what they had done was illegal.
This wasn't an extraneous safety feature that was simply not built into the car (like a safety belt), it was a design flaw that actually caused a heightened risk of the engine catching on fire/the gas tank exploding. The Ford company was aware of it, but it was decided that a redesign would be too costly.
FOX is bias, thats a joke or a very uninformed post. There are a couple shows that are very conserative but most of the others have totally equal time for both sides. I don't see that on any other network esp. MSNBC. When the news has been liberal controlled for decades and then another voice comes out that gives the right equal and fair time, I guess it would seem like they are bias especially to a culture that has only gotten liberalism. That argument would hold up if a) they had advertised the car as lacking in safety features and b) the price was lowered. Neither of those happened. They lied to the public and said there was nothing wrong with the engine when there was. It was fraud, not a marketing strategy, which is why they (also categorically proven) paid people off to keep it out of courts.
How the fuck did they freak out for no reason? Ford wasn't selling the car for cheaper, and they weren't advertising that it had less safety features. They sold it at regular price and told consumers that the car passed standard safety regulations when it's been categorically proven that they knew it was more likely to explode due to problems with the engine. They just fucking lied about it and they cased at least 29 deaths. I wouldn't call that "no reason".
Uh, there are plenty of places in America alone where one car company dominates the market, nevermind the fact that, as I've explained already, this argument applies to all fields, not just car manufacture anyway.
Say you live in an underdeveloped area with a single car company monopoly. You don't have another option.
Say the GOP gets their way and everything is privatized. You think you're going to be getting clean water out of your tap when you have no alternative?
The issue is not the relative safety of the car itself, but the fact that you wouldn't know, wouldn't have any other options, etc etc. This applies to all fields, not just car manufacturing. You're trying to dodge the point by trying to get me to pin a price on a human life, which, even if possible, is of no practical value to the discussion
I find that when people set their main focus in life to be the acquisition of material wealth and possessions, they tend to fall out of communication and out of touch with their humanity. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious and having goals. Treat other people like they are human beings and not a profit margin.

As indicated by the internal Ford documents that came out, the heightened risk to the driver due to fire was not a deliberate effect. It wasn't a business plan, it was a mistake and it eventually led to a mass recall once the issue was made public. If it wasn't a mistake they wouldn't have opted to try to pay off potential lawsuits, as it was understood that what they had done was illegal.

This wasn't an extraneous safety feature that was simply not built into the car (like a safety belt), it was a design flaw that actually caused a heightened risk of the engine catching on fire/the gas tank exploding. The Ford company was aware of it, but it was decided that a redesign would be too costly.

FOX is bias, thats a joke or a very uninformed post. There are a couple shows that are very conserative but most of the others have totally equal time for both sides. I don't see that on any other network esp. MSNBC. When the news has been liberal controlled for decades and then another voice comes out that gives the right equal and fair time, I guess it would seem like they are bias especially to a culture that has only gotten liberalism. That argument would hold up if a) they had advertised the car as lacking in safety features and b) the price was lowered. Neither of those happened. They lied to the public and said there was nothing wrong with the engine when there was. It was fraud, not a marketing strategy, which is why they (also categorically proven) paid people off to keep it out of courts.

How the fuck did they freak out for no reason? Ford wasn't selling the car for cheaper, and they weren't advertising that it had less safety features. They sold it at regular price and told consumers that the car passed standard safety regulations when it's been categorically proven that they knew it was more likely to explode due to problems with the engine. They just fucking lied about it and they cased at least 29 deaths. I wouldn't call that "no reason".

The issue is not the relative safety of the car itself, but the fact that you wouldn't know, wouldn't have any other options, etc etc. This applies to all fields, not just car manufacturing. You're trying to dodge the point by trying to get me to pin a price on a human life, which, even if possible, is of no practical value to the discussion

Both philosophies of economy have serious drawbacks. It's just because socialism is just a little worse, it takes most of the heat. But capitalism is something you either laugh about or cry about. Unchecked power, be it political or economic; causes suffering and injustice to innocent people eventually.

@ignbtd A system of economics that is stratified to the degree that a small percentage of people are allowed to own almost everything and simply shuttle money around, produce nothing and yet take large percentages of it for themselves for doing nothing cause serious social problems. Because that means SOMEBODY lower down the pole has to work their ass off & get little or next to nothing for their production so the wealthy can loaf. And therefore, capitalism is not a sound system of economics.

Good and bad in both. I wouldn't want a profit hungry insurance company running health here in the UK. We sold all public owned utilities to the private sector and now we pay through the nose to corporations for water, gas and power. We lost our coal mines at the cost of mass unemployment. Thatcher told us it was cheaper to import coal, it was for a short time until the mines closed forever. We sadly went down thepath of America's not so great Corporate world. All apart from the NHS.. thank God.

an example of this is when my boss stated that the bible has many contradictions. When asked what the contradictions were he did not know them. he was judging the bible without knowing much about it.
