Islam is most similar to Christianity and Jeudaism because Muhammad's, Jesus and Moses's times were most close together. Other prophets were alive so long ago the religions they've preached gave had so much of a longer period to become corrupt. So you never know the people who believe in the sun god could have once believed in Allah.

Islam is not based on the Torah which incidently is the standard for any teacher or prophet. In fact, it contradicts many passages of it. Note that scripture is the measure of any teacher and prophet. If a prophets message is inconsistent with the bible, he is not a true prophet.

The fact that Jesus is Emmanuel [God with us], and that you can't go to the Father except through Him. in aramaic–the language Jesus (peace be upon him) spoke–the word for god is elah, its formal is elaha.
in arabic–a sister language of hebrew and aramaic, altogether called the Semitic languages–the word for god is ilah, its formal is ilaha.
al-ilah literally means "The God." it is conjugated as Allah.
Allah was used by Arab Christians in arabic translations of the bible 200 years before the Qur'an.

eloh/elohim (hebrew), elah/elaha (aramaic), ilah/ilaha (arabic) all mean "god" in each language.
Allah just means "The God," the conjugated form of al-ilah.
