  • nice what they say here.

for all the english speaking people.

they say, electronic music is the future.music in the future will use computers etc.

  • My favorite periode of TD

  • Does anybody know if this piece was ever released or does it exist on one of those bootleg recordings? Any clue to finding it?

  • danke schon.

  • Absoluter Kult, merci...

  • This is a high class German group. One of my all-time favourites, and I saw Tangerine Dream in concert, in London, circa 1990. Thank you, Deutschland!

  • awesome! video footage from the concert in East Berlin (parts of which were later released on the album Pergamon). Great, thank you!

(and it's hard to decide which is the best line-up. Both Froese/Franke/Baumann and Froese/Franke/Schmoelling have their merits and did some awesome records and shows!)

  • I think the best lineup was froese Franke and Bauhman

  • Great stuff ...at what point after this did they forget how to play live ?

  • Exellent group, one of my all time fav's..

  • they discussing technical aspects of their Live gigs and/or recordings, the role of pre-programmed sequences (the quote mentioning the computer), various conventions for their Live improvisations i.e. tone pitch, poly-rhythmic patterns, cluster, extensive structures and a few examples of missleaded parts which, according to Edgar Froese. gives the audience an authentic expierience, but is the exception that proves the standard.

  • because it's a german documentary?

  • damn english monolinguals.... you English realy are stuck in a mind pit.

  • Wow ! Thanks for sharing this document !!!

  • Wow!!! Super thanks!! Does anyone happen to have that show from Greece where they play Logos and Poland. Mine is so fuzzy it's hard to even make out the picture,, but a clear version would be golden

    Thanks again!!

  • Froese sieht ganz frech aus mit den Brillen. Er gleicht der nordische Rock-König Eddie Meduza !!

  • I want a official full deluxe DVD of this concert NOW

  • They must bestonedor something thats why they gotsunglasses on

  • Yesma ybe the yare...whok nows whoc are syou'r emissingth e point

  • I didnt miss anything if they are stone they are stoned. I cant speak german so thats all I got out of this.If someone could interprete what they are saying maybe I could understand the point.

  • Yes!! They were the 1st at the time of ELP Pink Floyd, they were their own, god what's the word I'm looking for,,,, Entity, that's it!! I listen to Poland & Exit alot

  • What a pity, I don't understand what they say, it really seems to be interesting :'(

I should have chosen to learn German when I could ^^

  • haha truuu

i am curious as to what hes talking about :\

  • Music in background reminds me a bit on track Police Disco on Froese's soundtrack Kamikaze 1989

  • Only wish they would come to Ohio. Got introduced to them back in 96 by a friend, love this band. They are amazing!

  • 1974 - 1989 - Tangerine Dream's best years! Pergamon Live - best album!

  • vouch man

  • Don't miss Tangerine Dream live in London, on Nov 1st 2008 at the Forum and in Edinburgh, on Nov 2nd at the new Picture House. Both gigs with have a full laser show.

  • This video is awesome, hope someone edit a DVD containing this footages and some other videos around, of course if Edgar allows it. Maybe putting a shadow over Franke, no? ;)

  • best TD line-up, Franke , Froese and Schmoelling...

  • indeed :)

  • @3dcandy agree!

  • @3dcandy

This was a very great line-up, though my favorite would have to be Franke, Froese, and Bauman

  • @3dcandy : yes it is.

  • I know it's a lot of words, but could we have an English transcript or just a translation of a few memorable quotes. I love computers, music, and Tangerine Dream, so it would be incredible to get some words from the masters.

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic! I have never seen TD actually playing the music. I had always assumed that they were sequencing the rhythm, but seeing this vid, it is not the case! Edgar chewing gum while playing made me laugh! Great stuff!

  • Staatsgrenze West!

  • Just saw that now. Thanks for putting the two parts up.

At that very time TD had a sound which I quite enjoy a lot - even the material of these two videos...

    Is this material somewhere available?

  • The quality of this clip is amazing! Viddy well my brother, viddy well!

  • It's good to see & hear these guys again. I heard KRAFTWERK & TANGERINE DREAM at 5yrs old thats when i awoke to electronica.

  • AWESOME SOUND!Normally i listen to New age music like Vangelis but this is awesome. What's the name of the track they're plauying at the begining?

  • @WolfgangAmadeusF Ha, this seems to be some rare track that was never officially released. I wish I had this track as well. I heard that they played this track during some concerts, after which a bootleg recording was distributed around fans. If we only knew its name...

  • The DREAM is always the same ... Thanx 4 this Magic Video.................. From Italy

  • How great and rare! Thanks from the states!

  • Hi rockmorrishmusic. You think Kraftwerk did what TD were doing in the 80s way before. Well it might be good to remember that both were parallel bands in krautrock and TD even started in a much rockier vein before Kraftwerk made their 1st album.

KRAFTWERK are great, of course, only that for the more melodic nature of their music (compared to the obscurity of TD's earlier works), the new generation of electronic fans and artists seem to have hung on better to KRAFTWERK and not TD or SCHULZE.

  • rayos asi era como lo construian

  • Realmente admirable!

  • perfectoo!

  • looking for any info about their Flipper Konzert (photos, articles, videos, recordings...)!

Anyone out there has something about it?

  • This is freakin' awsome! Thankyou so much for posting this!

  • Nice post. As I long time fan I really appreciate this. If anyone has a few minutes to translate the interview (both clips)it would be great.

  • i think my dad is the biggest fan of tangerine in the world.

  • Why is the German race so goddamned awesome!

  • funny how that is eh? i guess your greatest asset can also be your greatest detraction.

  • For me they are Gods. I can't live without Tangerine Dream music.

  • ooo guy!! this is the future! the actually eletro musician's are the progress! we have the MIDI, but that is a 1990's invention, we have thousond's synth's at the PC or laptop. . . the music today is on the PC. but today is rare the musician's like TD and Jean Michel Jarre!

  • Fuck Frankie

  • Will be very difficult to see musicians like TD as at the moment, the electronic music bands copy a lot and give cold concerts standing at the laptop playing recorded songs made with one of the thousands music software.

  • He fucked up the tenchi movie

  • Hal I could not agree more with you!.Electronic music today is so sequenced and sampled that soon if they use holograms of human beings on stage, then they won't need a real band of musicians!

  • You should listen to M83.

  • great video, this makes a change from just lisening to them

  • Never heard them talking before, thanks for this video. Typischer Berliner Akzent :-). Franke explains the upcoming importance of Computers for electronic music, Froese talks about the way to communicate among them as musicians. What a shame, that Franke/Froese/Baumann splitted so ingloriously....

  • wow - where did you get this film from - amazing

  • Great start but can't understand german, where's johannes is this just prior to him joining before the east berlin gig,

  • Gracias!

  • Great and historic Tangerine Dream from one of their peak periods. I only wish their were subtitles to translate the German interview. Still, great to watch.

  • Ithink they are practicing for the concert in EAST Berlin January 1980.

  • MY FAVOURITE PERIOD! THANK YOU 10/10

  • I absolut appreciate this

  • Thanks for the look!

  • Great clip, even if the music is poor

  • Poor? You gotta get the full bootleg concert to hear this. The band at their awesome peek with JS just joining.

  • I have, that's why this is poor (just my opinion though), cos it's just the rehersal

  • Interesting for any serious fans (like me) : the melody line being played at around 0:40 is a variation of "Police Disco" from Froese's Kamikaze 1989 soundtrack - still two years away when this was filmed.
