This is a high class German group. One of my all-time favourites, and I saw Tangerine Dream in concert, in London, circa 1990. Thank you, Deutschland!
awesome! video footage from the concert in East Berlin (parts of which were later released on the album Pergamon). Great, thank you!
(and it's hard to decide which is the best line-up. Both Froese/Franke/Baumann and Froese/Franke/Schmoelling have their merits and did some awesome records and shows!)
they discussing technical aspects of their Live gigs and/or recordings, the role of pre-programmed sequences (the quote mentioning the computer), various conventions for their Live improvisations i.e. tone pitch, poly-rhythmic patterns, cluster, extensive structures and a few examples of missleaded parts which, according to Edgar Froese. gives the audience an authentic expierience, but is the exception that proves the standard.
Wow!!! Super thanks!! Does anyone happen to have that show from Greece where they play Logos and Poland. Mine is so fuzzy it's hard to even make out the picture,, but a clear version would be golden
I didnt miss anything if they are stone they are stoned. I cant speak german so thats all I got out of this.If someone could interprete what they are saying maybe I could understand the point.
Yes!! They were the 1st at the time of ELP Pink Floyd, they were their own, god what's the word I'm looking for,,,, Entity, that's it!! I listen to Poland & Exit alot
Don't miss Tangerine Dream live in London, on Nov 1st 2008 at the Forum and in Edinburgh, on Nov 2nd at the new Picture House. Both gigs with have a full laser show.
This video is awesome, hope someone edit a DVD containing this footages and some other videos around, of course if Edgar allows it. Maybe putting a shadow over Franke, no? ;)
I know it's a lot of words, but could we have an English transcript or just a translation of a few memorable quotes. I love computers, music, and Tangerine Dream, so it would be incredible to get some words from the masters.
Fantastic! I have never seen TD actually playing the music. I had always assumed that they were sequencing the rhythm, but seeing this vid, it is not the case! Edgar chewing gum while playing made me laugh! Great stuff!
@WolfgangAmadeusF Ha, this seems to be some rare track that was never officially released. I wish I had this track as well. I heard that they played this track during some concerts, after which a bootleg recording was distributed around fans. If we only knew its name...
Hi rockmorrishmusic. You think Kraftwerk did what TD were doing in the 80s way before. Well it might be good to remember that both were parallel bands in krautrock and TD even started in a much rockier vein before Kraftwerk made their 1st album.
KRAFTWERK are great, of course, only that for the more melodic nature of their music (compared to the obscurity of TD's earlier works), the new generation of electronic fans and artists seem to have hung on better to KRAFTWERK and not TD or SCHULZE.
ooo guy!! this is the future! the actually eletro musician's are the progress! we have the MIDI, but that is a 1990's invention, we have thousond's synth's at the PC or laptop. . . the music today is on the PC. but today is rare the musician's like TD and Jean Michel Jarre!
Will be very difficult to see musicians like TD as at the moment, the electronic music bands copy a lot and give cold concerts standing at the laptop playing recorded songs made with one of the thousands music software.
Hal I could not agree more with you!.Electronic music today is so sequenced and sampled that soon if they use holograms of human beings on stage, then they won't need a real band of musicians!
Never heard them talking before, thanks for this video. Typischer Berliner Akzent :-). Franke explains the upcoming importance of Computers for electronic music, Froese talks about the way to communicate among them as musicians. What a shame, that Franke/Froese/Baumann splitted so ingloriously....
Great and historic Tangerine Dream from one of their peak periods. I only wish their were subtitles to translate the German interview. Still, great to watch.
Interesting for any serious fans (like me) : the melody line being played at around 0:40 is a variation of "Police Disco" from Froese's Kamikaze 1989 soundtrack - still two years away when this was filmed.
nice what they say here.
for all the english speaking people.
they say, electronic music is the future.music in the future will use computers etc.
