Put one against a Prius and the Vauxhall will win!
Rapid response will get there before the ambulance because of its size, etc. Like mentioned before, you cant drive like Michael Schumacher through city streets
No doubt it, they wont put themselves and others in danger to high speed, they will on open long straights but when a cross road, corner, traffic light comes up, theyll slow down, you cant go everywhere like a racing driver!
Yes of course. I was commenting on how they don't observe common sense rules in NYC because they have become such a gang of bullies.
Since my last comment, they had a small collision they didn't announce as small until a zillion units went racing over there, even though there was another heavy call at the same time.
You could hear somebody screaming in the background on the radio. For sure they ruined somebody's Saturday night, blaming the victim in the process.
Thats something i dont get with the way the US emrgency servs. work, they send dozens of units for something small, say for example a domestic fight, there would be a firetruck, an ambulance and a few police cars, here in the UK, its more reserved and equipment/appliances etc are only sent if needed, say the domestic suddenly set the place on fire, the police would call for the fire brigade and so forth!
They don't send the fire dept unless their is something for them to handle and EMS goes in on a report of injuries, sometimes on a standby like hostage and bomb jobs but I find it's just invites to a party when there's a big job, all show up. Police I mean.
The FD handles different things in different cities. In NYC both PD and FD handle pins and traps (latest dispatch slang for trapped in a collision)
Funny, just was a call for a car with bullet holes and blood in my area
Over dispatch of Emergency Service Apparatus is commonplace in the United States as a whole.
I run in a company in MD and PA and both are over dispatch. However when in Garrett Co. MD they we're sensible on what was sent. Just depends on local protocol and the "Box Card" made by the chief of the department having jurisdiction.
Here the FDNY and Emergency Service are dispatched separately, don't know what the other is doing and often are in competition for the job, since the first unit gets his boys to handle. FDNY gets there first, they handle and NYPD watches.
Down here in Cornwall, they have Renault Megane Estates as RRV's, really quick pull when they pull away at places such as junctions. (Lots more lights and siren tones than the police) lol. Off topic a little, they also have an old Mercedes Benz fire truck with the old 2 tone. (Still used too which is great)
Why watch ignorant teenagers kick a leather ball around for 90 minutes? People have different interests.
Like, I enjoy fishing and taking pictures of cars when other people would hate sitting on a riverbank weighing a fish they've caught or want to key the gas guzzler parked up outside ASDA.
