I have used this method as well as using my finger and circling around the tick causing the tick to fall out.ussually within 60 seconds. As you circle around the tick, make sure to remain in contact (touching) the tick. Dog thinks you are just petting him. 3 out of 3 times it has worked for me and my dog.

Dinnerandashow- I suggest you remove ticks the way you feel confident in doing so.
Canalero- I suggest you use your own method.
I might add that the ease of tick removal is also related to the type of tick, and the type of skin your dog has IMO.
I have used my method, that has worked for many years in a tick infested area, my dogs and my family are still alive and not suffering from Lymes, therefore for me it has worked. I am using official tick tweezers, although they are now about 20 years old
HEY PEOPLE!! I HAVE A DOG AND MY UNCLE IS A VET AND I WILL TELL U THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS WHY R U PEOPLE HATING ON HIM CUZ HES DOING IT "THE WRONG WAY"
@Urfism Shows how much you know! I was taught to unscrew a tick anticlockwise and with no pressure. It works for me, as I don't leave the heads in, that would be daft. I don't think there is a right or wrong way, its what you feel confident doing, but if you leave the head in, then try a different method. My method has worked for 25 years, and my dogs have never showed symptons of lymes even though the ticks here are definately infected.
@YourDarkAccomplice Its a known fact that the ticks in the New Forest do carry Lymes disease, simple.although I have heard about more cases of infection from ticks with humans than dogs.
@YourDarkAccomplice Be really interesting to know what % of ticks do carry lymes disease, there must be studies or they wouldn't know 'hot spot 'areas like the New Forest.
@Novaforesta - Yeah, it's important to know. I found a tick on my dog's ear today and didn't know what to think. (I'm more of city girl who just moved to a more country area. So all of this is too new to me...) lol
@GhostSwagg24 I am not a vet, but if the head is still in there it will most likely get infected, easy option is antibiotics......and it works its way out. I notice lumps and bumps on my dogs, if I think its a tick head, I use a mix of boiled water and white vinegar and pop out the head when its good and ready, if I am worried about the general health of my dog, then I would consult a vet straightaway. You need to feel confident you know your dog and its well being.
LOL

you just removed the tick in one of the worst methods. never squeeze, never twist, do not grab above the head. why did you make a video?

This is the worst way to remove a tick! Watch any PROFESSIONAL and they will tell you to grab the tick by the head and pull straight up.
LittleMsJude 6 months ago
@LittleMsJude but the head is buried beneath the skin and is quite small..

This vid is bad. Your teaching people the wrong way. You twisted it off and now the head is still in your dog. Slow, steady upward motion only.

@Novaforesta - Well, ticks are known to rarely carry the disease, actually. So I had to ask the simple question.

@biobiowar I think regrowing the body is a myth

What happens if the head is still in there
GhostSwagg24 9 months ago
@GhostSwagg24 Some says the bacteria of the tick will remain and may cause illness to the dog .
chantakzee 9 months ago
@GhostSwagg24 It's the same. Better remove the head too
