@j363j No, I say if our redesigned mig115 for tourism that has long would all fly into space with no problems, scoring bolt "means a devil-may-care attitude" "mig115 this orbital fighter" "but mig115 forgotten"
What is the SSTO short for? It can't mean Single Stage To Orbit, because the Valkyrie stays in space. That's why shuttles are attached to it when traveling between starsystems.
@LouistheHedgehog Lol, nice research, but in James' world, the Valkyries are the shuttles, even though that's the name of the Interstellar Vehicle (ISV) design he used. (Which btw, was IMO the most awesome and realistic part of the movie... sadly it was only the first minute or so, LOL.)
I don't think they were that realistic. Maybe aerodynamically, but to get to orbit you need a significant fuel ratio, the shuttle is 15x more fuel than payload.
Wait wait wait, my bad. The Valkyries ARE the shuttles. The starship called the VENTURESTAR stays in space. The shuttles probably used fusion rockets, which would account for the low mass ratio. However, they could also probably pump air around the hot parts to cool it off and add to the thrust, which would allow it to ALSO function as a jet.
Errr... what makes it so realistic? Seeing a lot of avatar fans lately saying how everything should be like it is in avatar. Including helicopters. Getting tiresome.
Also I lol'd at 1:25, looks like one of boeings BWB concepts? whats that got to do with space.
Actually, SSTO TAV-37 'Valkyrie' is designed by NASAs engineers. Try to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey. All spacecraft n space station in that movie are designed by Wernher von Braun. dunno this man. try Google.
@JedyTubeSaber not necessarily. You really can't predict what new technologies we will uncover in this century, for all we know we will be using magnetic sails in the next fifty years.
I hope everybody has seen the evidence that the Apollo moon missions were faked in a studio. There's a partial summary of the evidence posted on a science forum. To see it, google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did We Land on the Moon?". It's on page 15. It's the 7th post from the top.
Why are we interested in space? History shows that groups of people tend to move, explore and conquer. Now that there is nothing left here except war, space is the next step in our exploratory nature... my thoughts anyway.
1) Zero G and the sheer sight of our world. I understand that zero G is described as being in the womb ( that should be interesting)
2) I want to see and explore the final frontier in all its scientific glory.I want to see nebula, quasars, and nova... Not to mention the potential of finding life...
3)To get us to number 2 in what i think is the most comfortable and efficient way.
2 Questions.
1. Where is the soundtrack from.
2. Those space hotels at the end that look like the Millennium Falcon cockpit, where's the John?

*15x more fuel than VEHICLE, not paylaod. Payload fraction is MUCH smaller.
Anyways, where are the Scramjet designs!?

of course there will be space travel in the future and even colonization on other planets...the tickets would be expensive as hell though!

And how did they get to orbit with jets!?

@LouistheHedgehog I could believe that. In the movie, it was called the Venture Star, but the design was almost 90% Valkyrie.
Wiki: Project Valkyrie
What I have difficulty believing is they had all that tech and they were still using guns, and STILL couldn't beat the Na'vi .

(If I was in charge the thing would've flown at 50,000 feet to bomb mothertree XD - analog bombsites worked well enough in WWII)

Dear All,
I have some question on psychology:
Why do we love flying space travel? What do we enjoy to explore the space? Why do we want to design new aeroplanes and space shuttle?
Thank You in Advance for your creative ideas and brainstorms :)

not sure that a psychology question... we do it for the same reason the first satellite was launched, advancement of technology.

Very nice !
Is the plane at 1:06 a Russian design ?
I think I remember the shape from a super-sonic Leer Jet project.
It didn't have those massive engines back then, but I guess you'd need "a little" more umpf for this job.
