  • Hey Jaredpolin, can this work great on my d7000, if, what is the pros and cons?

  • @emotionalpunk101390 70-200mm is beast i use it at co-op everyday, fucking awesome lens, great for weddings. (works good on the 5D i use at work) so i think it will work great with your D7000.

  • i have the 105mm and was thinging about buying the tc20 2x converter to make it around the 200mm or will it just be worth buying the 70-200mm?

  • Jared, good reviewws man, kewp it up.... this video helped in deciding, and i finally got the 70-200 VR 2!! fantastic lens ...heavy, but amazing quality indeed. BTW, i have compared the reach on 200mm, between 18-200 ( at 200) and 70-200 VR2... what i noticed is that the 18-200 VR, actually has less reach than the 200mm on the 70-200... what does this mean ? does the 18-200 really get to 200mm ? does any lens get to 200mm :)?

  • isnt it shorter only at the closest focusis distance of 1.5 meters? due to the nature of the IF giving it a field of view similar to tht of a 60-135? but how is it at infinity? im considering buying this lens for my dx body. any tips

  • I think this is the first time you didn't open the video with ––

"Jared Polin!! FRO. KNOWS. PHOTO!! dot com!"

  • Actually, I'm curious about its breathing, which can be a problem for use with video doing rack focusing. So any insight you can give me on its breathing would be appreciated? Thanks!

  • Side comment here Jared, but nice headphones! I hope you are amping them right. If you are ever in the market for new headphones and like the Senn sound signature, give the HD650s a try. I have them and they are easily my favorite headphones in my cache.

Audiophilia and photography...I chose some expensive hobbies, lol.

  • Nice review Jared.

  • Thanks Jared I will be going for it for sure now. Yes Rockwell goes on abit too much for my taste about how sharpness is not a funciton of the quality of a ens (hello??) THEN says always buy lenses made by your camera maker and how THIS lens IS supersharp. I think I will gladly take your advice Thank you for such a fast response. I enjoy your style and the quality of your ideas & reviews By the way I dug your thinktank retrospective 30 review Tossing up betweent he 20 or 30 Thanks again!

  • Hi Jared I really dig your videos. I think I can trust your opinions on this. I am looking agt tis lens. Never seen one in real life so to speak, but doing online research. I am not into alal this analysing BS, but I 'ain't got a lot of money if you dig. Mid you I CAN pay for this lens if it is up to what i want. I am wondering if you are still just as happy as you were three months ago with the lens. I've been reading kenrockwell and he likes it too. What doyou reckon? Love your style too man

  • @writerman242 First dont read ken rockwell lol second I love this lens, when you buy pro gear its most likely going to work so no need to over think anything time and time again which so many people do.

  • Hi Jared.

First i would like to say thanks for all those great videos, they are really inspiring.

I'm about to get myself a 70-200 lens for the D7000 I've just ordered. The question if if I should get a new Sigma 70-200 with OS or a secondhand Nikon 70-200 VR1? They are about the same price at my local dealer in Sweden.

    / Fredrik

  • I have read somewhere that the new 70-200vrII is shorter than 200mm (when zoomed to 200) only when focusing close. When focusing at distance the vrII lens shows a 200mm field of view. Maybe you could give this a try and let us all know if this is fact of fiction?

  • @witherm01 I did a test with both lenses and yes it comes up slightly shorter but it's a ton sharper edge to edge with no vinetting so i prefer that. It's really no big deal and many people have blown it put of proportion.

  • @JaredPolin As people tend to (blow..!). I am thinking of getting this lens so hope to find out for myself. From what I understand the lens contracts at short focus to give you a shorter focusing distance. If this is so then it only makes the lens more versatile. Thanks. Mark.

  • Thank You as I agree if the lens does a excellent image just go out and shoot the pictures. I am picking up this lens in a few weeks as just sold some of my older lens and was looking for a good lens to use with my new D700 and I just want the best picture if it's not quite 200mm then take one step forward as yes I seen the video's where people will nit-pick the product to death

  • @mannequindisplay exactly, and after having the lens for a long time now just shoot!!!

  • I just broke down and ordered the VR II...Damn you and your luxurious hair!

  • @pof1514 sweet you two could have hair like this in 5 easy steps

  • Hello Jared.

Sorryfor my english at first.I have a question. When i shake carefullyma my new70-200 VRII lens i can her The noises comes from somwere near tothe end of thte lens.where it cocects withe a camera. Ii it comon? ODes Yours do the same thing, or maybe there is something wrong with mine? Thanks.

  • @MrMackowski That's the vr going on and off it's normal

  • I'm sure the new VR F2.8 zooms are amazing, but if you don't get paid to shoot, the old 70-210 F4 is pretty amazing. It actually focuses closer than these new F2.8 lenses, and doesn't contract its focal length as it focuses.

  • still... one should get the classic 80-200 2.8 AF-S, which has none of the issues of the VRI or VRII, and for around 1.000 usd can be called cheap.

  • @BigRooster747 thanks for the response, you know ive only ever seen one of those lenses? That lens was replaced so fast it wasn't even funny.

The very first lens I ever bought was the 80-200 2.8 ED 2 touch. I loved that lens so much on my n90s than 5f than i got such a great deal on a 70-200 vr with my d2h that I had to retire it.

You are right thought, pick up one of those if you can find it. You probably can find a 70-200 vr 1 around that price as well.

    Thanks.

  • comes down to false advirtising. it i am giong to spend $2,400 on this lens it had damn well do what it says it will do. anything less is unacceptable.

  • Hey Jared, found the samples for the 70-200 VRII and your website. Superb images. Love the wedding and candid stuff. Keep up the good work! Cheers for the direct update and trying to get across to people just to take the bloody picture and stop analysing!

  • you should get antiglare coating on your glasses, and tilt the webcam down a bit more

  • @Jared

Never mind bro this video replays to my question on the first video thanks

  • is the original 70-200 sharp all the way across on a DX camera , for example my D300s

  • @lorikzzz Yes, it is still an amazing lens. I used it for a good 3 years from a d2h to a d2xs. Ive used it for the last 2 years on my d3 and still loved it on there. It is a sharp lens no matter how you slice it. The new one just offered some better things for me right now plus i am able to et the most value out of selling the vr1. I hope this helps.

  • yeah but i'm still thinking about which one to get ??? Which on do you recommend?? Price doesn't matter btw...

  • @JaredPolin If price doesnt matter your get the best of the best at that time. The new lens is 5 years newer so it should be around for close to 10 years without much of an update hopefully. In that time Full Frame cameras will come down in price. Allens camera has them in stock right now, they will be open tomorrow again 215,547.2841 . Just tell allen Jared sent you.

  • You forgot the links.

  • @rockergrrrl the link is there to the right now.
