  • though i would not recommend plugging a power strip into a power strip but its your choice. a power strip should always be plugged into the wall directly. and also a extension cord should never be used for perminant wiring. like you should never plug something into an extension cord and then into the wall.

  • @HospitalWaste

I have a friend who does electrical/construction for a living. I asked him the best way to do this. We talked about running full on power/outlets and everything, but he suggested this. I asked him if there were any safety issues. There are not. it's no different than running an extension cord in any other situation.

Running a power strip from a power strip is not dangerous. But after this video was shot, I removed the superfluous power strip as I didn't need it

  • @L1Games yeah man it might just be difference between canada and the united states for that. But then again how often do building inspectors enter your house anyways lol its not that its unsafe just in canada its not to code. Anyways man im jealous of your selector. I have the retro mad catz one from back in the day. Mine has 4 inputs but i have to switch a button to change consoles. the game room looks sick btw im going to use the conduits similar to what you did good job man

  • @HospitalWaste

You could catch one (Selector) like mine for about $35. you could order it off radio shack's website if you don't have a store local to you:)

  • i love my madcatz av selector its fucking amazing can plug 4 systems into it and can switch between them with the push of a button... though next gen consoles dont seem to work in it but thats ok my ps3 is hdmi and if i ever get a 360 it will be hdmi also

  • glad to see im not alone on having multiple consoles hooked up at once, nothing like going from ps3 to snes, and seeing were i started gaming lol

  • @L1Games I have 16 consoles and I am looking for something like that stand for your consoles (btw nice Sears Video Arcade and orange n64). Have you seen something like that with that many spaces?

Nice game room- I'm pretty jelly

  • @naptimewithturtles2

I have not. but you could do multiple selectors to multiple inputs:)

  • @L1Games It's not that, the entertainment stand. I already have the auto av selector.

  • How much was the console selector?

  • @TheSonicTurtles

$35 (I talk about it at the 1:00 mark :)

  • @L1Games oh oops Thank you

  • @TheSonicTurtles

    no prob! Thanks for watching!

  • where did you get the entertainment stand and what are the dimensions on it

  • @dondon4720

I don;t remember the exact dimensions.

Watch my other Building a gameroom videos for info on where I got it and what it cost.

  • no genesis, nes, or snes?

  • @xerothehedgehog

Not at the time I shot this. Since then I put a rebuilt NES where that Heavy sixer is in this video.

  • pfft i use a tv with rgb

  • That is beautiful, I am going to have that in my room but messier and with an xbox 1, a ps3 and a ps2. The 360 is my brothers.

  • hey! how is the fat ps3? do they actually last long or do they still have whatever problem they had years ago?

  • @TheTdwpforever

Mine seems OK so far. I had a 6gb brick on me a while back. this is the 80gb backwards compatible model. I wont own a PS3 if it doesn't play my PSs2 games:)

  • @L1Games ahh ok thanks! thats the only reason i want the older model too ps2 game:D

  • @L1Games Your xbox 360 halo 3 works D: Mines done

  • @L1Games i get that my 1st ps3 had was ps2 backwards compatible took me forever to find a new one will thats not true i didnt find one my friend gave me his old ps3 when he got ps3 slime

  • broooo!? no supernintendo?

  • Drill job on the back of the cabinet? Def Army.

  • Awesome video.

  • That's really cool.

  • Bruh weres your Panasonic Q???? What about the N64DD??

  • @assfacemili

My Gamecube Q is in it's box. I have the Wii hooked up to this TV, so I don't need another gamecube.

I wish I had a N64DD, but as of yet, I have not gotten hold of one.

  • @L1Games You should make a video showing it off and talking about it btw how much do you sell your wavebirds for?

  • @assfacemili

I show it off at the end of video number 226:)

Dont have any wavebirds right now.

  • 3 weeks without a video... :(

  • when ever i hear the phrase "daisy chain " i think of AVGN's 3DO review

  • Awesome! I have a terrible wire mess but i'm too lazy to do all this. It would help if i had a better entertainment center though. Right not i have this cheap plastic crap i got when i moved in that was suppose to be temporary. I think i'll upgrade that today because i definitely have a fire hazard over here. Lol. Although i finally figured out how to Get my consoles to shut off if i accidentally leave them on before i go to bed or when i go out for a few days. I hooked them up to timers. =)

  • Awesome video Muzz. I see you have a Goldstar 3DO system, I have the same one. You have a great setup and thanks for the helpful tips.

  • really cool now i want to come over to ypur house an play some games lol

  • you should put one of those tricked out entertainment systems in a contest

  • @l1games which of the consoles in the cabinet would you recommend to someone who started gaming on the original xbox?

  • @randomenigma59

For both gaming and collectability, I'd start with the Saturn or dreamcast.

  • I used to have 9 consoles connect to my entertainment setup, a 6.1 surround sound system and the cable TV box there were way too many wires and power bricks back there, I got tired of it, disconnected everything and now I only connect the system I'm going to use. much more organized, I have all the AV cables in one box, the power bricks and chords in another one and its real easy to find what I need and connect it.

  • I know you dont usually talk bout your family muzz, but do you let your kids play your game consoles?

  • wow this is great. i didnt know they sold auto a/v switcher. i still have the manual buttons one made by pelican and it works well. it came with a label to snap into the plaque for easy reference. one cool thing i did with all of these systems (ps1, psx, ps2 slim, xbox 1, dreamcast, VCR, and ps3) are connected via surround sound. most are simulated surround sound unless it has optical sound out. i dont know if you have VGA hook up for dreamcast but its worth getting. it looks sharper.

  • what a great tutorial! very easy and simple enough and affordable within reason :)

  • Hey muzz, could you do a rant about the SOPA bill? I would really like to hear what you have to say about it

  • You missing a video? This is #237, but is says you only have 236 total.

  • @kittybones26

I actually have 239 uploaded videos. but some funny stuff happened. I have one listed private and another thats a 2 part video so it has the same number 2 times:) throws the numbers off a bit:)

  • beats my way. i dont have anything set up. i have to go through boxes and draws to find the wires

  • Lol i found an A/V Selector in my basement. From the looks of the radioshack logo, i'd say it was from the early nineties lol! it still works though :)

  • For the wall wart you have connecting the AV selector, I would tie wrap that to the power strip. Those things tend to let gravity win and pull out after a while.

Also, what will you do if you want to play a sega cd 32X game? You need 2 more outlets!

  • @demanufacturedmario

I keep my genesis/CD/32X combo (or as I call it, "The star destroyer".) stored with a power strip of it's own. the wires to the 3 power adapters is braided together so they don't get tangled.

This way it's like one A/C cord from the system and one AV cord. I could hook it up just as I do any other console:)

But you make a good point, Maybe I should shoot a video of that for other people who have that setup. it is a LOT of plugs. LOL

  • @L1Games hahaha, why? What Sega CD 32X games are you still playing?

  • @thadreazie

The 32X doesnt have much to offer (there were only like 36 games released in America). But, I like Star wars arcade, Knuckles Chaotix, Space harrier, Kolibri, and a couple others.

As for the Sega CD, There are too many to list. Off the top of my head, Double Switch, Snatcher, Eternal champions (specifically the sega CD version), Out of this world/Heart of the alien combo pack, Sonic CD, the lunar games, ETC,

And you can always play any of the great Genesis game library on it.

  • @L1Games yep, I loved Snatcher on my Sega CD. I was dying for the Lunar games but I never got the dough for em; was going to get that compilation set. I really think, in retrospect, the best Sega CD game I ever played was Popful Mail; side-scrolling action/platform/RPG. For an action genre game, it was really long but kind of short for an RPG. Good blend of genres. Kind of reminiscent of Castlevania 3 on NES the way you find other players and can switch between them. Did you play it?

  • Damn, I gotta get me one of those Auto switch RCA thingys.

  • Fantastic Job. Now I know what I am going to be doing this weekend! Thanks for the great tips.

  • Great video.

  • How do you hook up an atari with rca cables..?

Mine only has the coax cable.

Btw, i really like this videos about making your gameroom =)

  • @jchmmm

If you don't have an RCA mod, you don not hook it up with RCA cables. I just had it on display on that shelf till I picked the console I want to hook up there.

  • Comment removed

  • i have one of those, cept it has 4...

  • I wish that I kept all my old systems and not of had sold them :( I look at ur collection and it is just amazing and I get really jelous of you. Great video though.

  • with your OCD, I'm surprised you did not paint the channels black first.

  • @nintendolunchbox

LOL, I'm bad, but not that bad:)

  • @L1Games I'm wondering what headphones those are on top, are they Xbox 360, PS3, other, wireless, etc... As I'm always on the search for a good set of cans.

  • @clays121

Turtle beach X41. it's a pretty good headset:)

  • @L1Games Thanks for reply, I will be sure to give those a look :-)

  • I dig it man

  • thanks for sharing this video with us, i've enjoyed watching your game room build from the start till completion

  • I love the Sega Sports DC. I recently bought one, so now on my shelf I have the DC, a Saturn and a Genesis 1. It's pretty sick. Thinking about it now, though, I may put my white DC back. That system deserves to stick out lol.

  • good shit

  • <3 TARDIS

  • Nicez! It seems you are very creative and precise in what you've made :) looks great. The only gaming system you still need is a gaming pc! I know these are all consoles and a pc isn't. But that would just finish it :) At least you have enough power input xD

  • @RichardMr666

I have a really nice asus republic of gamers laptop. But I just dont game much on PC:)

  • @L1Games you call the a nice computer i have top of the line i rock a commodore vic 20 for my gaming. talk about top of the line it's running 5 KB RAM,video display 176 x 184 pixels and 3583 bytes of BASIC program memory. all i need is my Commodore Datasette plus cassettes and i got the best out there.

  • What sucks is HDMI quick selectors are very pricy. As well as Component. Good job by the way. very organized.

  • While I'm unable to know, my fiance and I will be using your Building a Gameroom videos when we create one of our own. These are very detailed but it makes it seem really easy to do at the same time. I suck when it comes to building things but I think I've got a shot thanks to these videos. Great stuff man.

  • that is a sick battle station

  • Is it me, or is Youtube super slow to load vids?

  • Now your gonna start selling AV selectors at your store huh? Lol...

  • Very Sexy. Like watching porn only less messier

  • I might have to redo my setup again.

  • No mess + no fuzz = Muzz xD

  • @makedaevilmage

    HA HA!

  • HEY.... We have the same TV :D

  • Damn, I never ever though of doing that. I used one of the switches for mine, and the same power bar, I just use those plastic ties to keep the wires for each console separate.

This is a damn good idea.

    Thanks.

  • This was a great video to help us make simpler entertainment rooms but problem with foreigners suchs as myself its hard to know where to get all this hardware stuff you use.

  • @BenjaminEllett I'm sure you can get a hot glue gun pretty much anywhere. As for the power strips, I know you guys are on 220, so it's different. Do you have a local hardware store that sells power strips? if not, Maybe you can search online?

The AV cords and system selector should be easy though. I just checked Radio Shack's U.K. site and they carry them:)

  • This would be great for me if I had the 45 extra bucks to buy the box and everything.

  • @multicuntmuffin I got a simple manual switch for 4 RCA in and 1 RCA out. One of the 4 ins can also accept S-Video. It only cost me $20 on Amazon, and I use it to feed my Wii, Xbox360, and DTV converter box in and output the audio to my stereo system, and the video to my PC's capture card. Who needs a TV? Lol.

  • 1 person dislikes when I try to share something cool with my fellow gamers.

    Dear 1 person,

You are a douche....that is all.

  • @L1Games I think that person is jelous that you did such a great job. Or its your wife O.O. Doubtful though, I bet she loves that you kept it as neat as you did.

  • @L1Games There's always gonna be a dislike in every video, only because the person doing it wants attention.

  • @L1Games we all know its Jack Thompson, hiding out in his mom's basement

  • @L1Games A douch and one hell of a smeg head or as kryten would say smeeeeeeeee heeeeeeeee !!

  • @AFIDD21

"You Mr. Rimmer sir are a SMEEEEEEEEEEG HEEEEEEEEEEED!" LOL

  • @L1Games lolololol

  • Really great looking setup, Muzz. And all of those special edition consoles are looking mighty fine too :)

  • Definitely saving this video onto my favorites so I have a reference guide for when I start on my game room. Thanks Muzz!

  • Good vid.. Looks great

  • that's a sexy setup, muzz

  • 10:57 the hell muzz is that a onlinepass game ? (deadspace2) great room any ways i need to get a switch like that

  • ive got tht tv 52" minei s

  • awesome great idea to keep everything tidy good vid muzz:-)

  • thanks man, this really helps out for me.

Multiple penetrations to my TV aint a beautifull sight lol

  • Oh, daisy chaining... Got the SNES going to the N64, the N64 and the PS3 to the VCR to to DVD player to the PSone to the PS2 to the TV.

But D2E, why are you running your HD PS3 through AV to a VCR and from there through coaxial cable to the DVD player, Psone, PS2 and ultimately to the TV? Because muh TV makes a loud buzzing noise with all but coaxial, bitchez. And I'm not about to buy another one when this one still works.

  • @Death2Evil LOL!

  • You can tell your just an all round handy man, you'd be super helpful as a dad :D

  • smart chap u are lol i think ill try this out (:

  • ur a monster man! :D

  • OH SHIIII..... TARDIS INCOMING

  • why did you use quick disconnect and the av cords? i have ps2, gamecube, dreamcast, snes, N64 going to a pelican 5 switch box, sega genesis/cd to a vcr and xbox to the front av on tv that i have to switch for nes right now. i would liek to get another switch box since this one makes video look dark and stuff. power is a mess. i kinda have 2 6 plug strips one going to one plug and the other going to a plug across the room along the wall.

  • and a 6 plug wall one that splits into 3 each.. i have the 9 systems, vcr, dvd, radio, tv, computer, monitor, modem, 2 routers. i haven't throw a breaker yet but it isn't pretty like i said. you can see it in one of my videos if want to. i am using 4 wall outlets too btw with the 2 power strips and the wall one.

  • @james42519 The reason he did that is to have longer cords and to look more asthetically pleasing to the eyes it would look amazing I now wish I had kept my older consoles now and had done this myself.

@L1Games Looks amazing awsome job dude!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • do you have one of the boxes set up with three extension cords? gotta be ready for those sega cd 32x games XD

  • I need to get me one of those

  • you cant honestly tell me that you USE all 9 consoles all the time? lol you only need a few consoles.

  • @Tis4Tony

I said in the video that I'd only be using one console at a time. this is just for ease of use. is there a problem with that?

  • I have had much failure using AV switches. The AV switch actually weakens the signals coming from the console to the TV. The result is blurry graphics with less color and lower sound quality.

Also, as the previous comment has mentioned, the hdtv might not be the most appropriate choice for older gen consoles such as the dreamcast, due to the differences in aspect ratios.

  • @ryanc519 i have had this happen with my pelican av switch. it is annoying and makes me not want to play stuff. i have no idea what the power is for on that too. i am not using it and it works. i can't get the s-video in to go out on composite too or composite to go out on s-video.

  • Respond to this video...

I would try a different selector. Doesnt sound like the one you have does a very good job. the one I have here doesnt seem to hurt the picture quality at all.

  • @ryanc519 i have to say the dreamcast on the lcd would be good though. the vga box better.

  • @ryanc519

a system that uses the A/V cables looks fine on this TV (or one like it). Plus, I don't have room for a second TV in my game room. The picture is fine as far as I can tell.maybe you've picked bad AV selectors.

  • DAMN Muzz i'd like to spend at least an hour to pick at your brain :D!!!!

  • I really appreciate these videos. I currently have 5 consoles hooked up to my TV and it's always a major hassle taking these consoles over to a friend's house and then reconnecting them without risking some major cable tangles or pulling something out on accident. I'll definitely be using these videos when I can build my own gaming/entertainment room.

  • where can i pick up that system holder/TV stand? Nice set up thanks for the video.

  • @geoshnas

Check out my older "Building a gameroom" videos. I talk about it in those:)

  • Thanks for putting this up! I just today bought a new tv cabinet and I was wondering how to do this! This is going to make things so much easier and neater! Thank you!

  • I like that idea, the way mine is setup, it doesn't matter how I do it, its still a mess in the back lol.

  • Nice setup, Muzz! I wish I had the time and motivation to do something like this. I also wish I had that many consoles and games haha.

One quirky thing I noticed is that your TV isn't respecting the native aspect ratio of the older consoles. The Dreamcast and N64, for example, output a 4:3 image, but your TV appears to be stretching them out to 16:9 widescreen, thus distorting the picture. Just one of those little things that bug me :P

  • @Shredhead370 you should go for it:) You'd be surprised how quickly you can get it done. I think I have about 3 hours into this and it was done:)

the ratio thing isn't bad. I wondered about it myself when I hooked everything up, but in the end, It's fine:) I had to pick an HD for my wii, xbox, PS3, and 360. (since I use HD cables for all of those) and don't have room for a 2nd TV in my tiny room:) LOL

  • @L1Games

You don't need a second TV, I believe you can change the ratio in the TV settings menu (:

  • hello

  • this is awesome and very clean, btw what kind of tv is that?

  • I have a similar setup for my game systems. I only have a 4 input switch, but it's perfect because the Atari 2600 and Intellivision II only use the old cable output. I just move the plug from system to system as needed. They're right next to each other and have plenty of room for rear access from the front so it's not difficult.

  • @rockguythirtytwo I saw a selector at radio shack that also has coaxial cable inputs. you may want to check it out, sounds like it would be good for your setup:)

  • @L1Games Naa, I only have one cable to share between the systems. My friend gave me the 2600 in the first place because I had a cable that worked with it and he didn't. I don't play it much though, only have 3 games. Mrs Pac Man, Kangaroo and River Raid. I have like 50 for the Intellivision II.

  • id feel bad for u if u got to move out to another place :D

  • @soullesplain

LOL! I moved about a year ago, It's a PAIN!!!!

  • @L1Games Theres no problem with that. :) I still liked the video! I just couldn't believe that someone still plays all those consoles when xbox and Ps3 deliver amazing games. lol more power to you!
