  • Wow man... The SAME thing happened to me. EXACTLY the same part of the macbook. My MacBook fell on the floor some weeks ago, and the screen plastic is breaking too now, I gotta find someone to repair it :S

  • AWSOME QUALITY!

  • this happens to almost every macbook, no biggie

  • this happens to almost every macbook, no biggie

  • This happened to myn :D On both sides. Doesn't matter, I want an aluminum one now.

  • BOOO HOOO

    BUY A NEW ONE

  • did it crack every agin

  • Wow i was going to get a the previous gen MacBook, but i waited because i didn't have time to go to the apple store, and then the next day, the new plastic unibody one was released. i was so glad i didn't get the older one.

  • They addressed this by making the new white macbooks unibody. They will no longer suffer that fate. The great thing is Apple covers this repair, whether your within warranty, or out of it. I think it was considered a defect. So if your haing this problem, contact apple, and then go into an apple store and get it fixed, and continue to enjoy your macbook. It's that simple.

  • that will never happen to my macbook... ever. i can be completely sure of it. why? because I have the aluminum unibody one :) hehehe awe but the white ones are so awesome i'm trying to get ahold of one second hand, they really are tanks.

  • well i took mine in to the genius bar a few weeks back and they fixed it in like 15 minutes for free,, and yeah it was out of warranty :)

  • Mine does that too!! but they only fix it under warantanty

  • it's because the magnets that keep it shut pulls it from the rest of the mac when u open it

  • mines done the same just like out of no where its like that, i havent dropped it or anything!, but im like a month out of warranty do you think apple might fix it anyway?

  • No they wont

  • the same thing happened to me now apple is going to repair it

  • hey guys just joined your broken mac club........ :(

  • I have the same problem...

  • mine did exactly the same =(

  • Mine just did the same thing on that spot tonight.

  • Mine was like that when I bought it. I've seen loads of them with the exact same damage on Ebay. Seem to uccour to 50 maybe more % of them.

  • i got a mac but i stuck room keys in the dvd thing and its worse

  • mine has the exact same problem im taking it to get fixed tomorrow.

  • WELL i got a free mac book from my skool about 3 months ago

and the same thing has been done to the mac as the viedo

    but not as big

this happened about two weeks ago

i need to noe how much it would cost to get fixed? or does it need fixing

the skool has no warrenty on them and will not pay for it

    ???? HELP

  • how did you get it for free from school?

  • the government gave them to most catholic skools in Sydney we get to keep them

  • my brother mac had the exact same problem.

  • I thought that was just mine! :D

  • mine did the same thing on that spot

  • the same thing happen to me

  • i have that in the same place along with a popped button. can apple fix it?

  • i have it too

    how to dont get this

close your mac book slowly down.

  • my macbook had the same problem

  • Mine does that too and a crack in the lower left corner of the keyboard area it doesn't impact how the computer works but it just doesn't look quite as pretty

  • same happened to me in the exact same place :(

  • wtf i have the same EXACT piece broken off. I superglued it back but it just doesn't look and feel the same..

  • u should have got a PC

  • If you want a slow computer full of viruses, yes he should have got a PC.

  • a PC is a lot faster and cheaper than any mac u can buy idiot , and i dnt get viruses , and macs can get them and will get more if macs wernt overpriced peices of shit

  • Ok A Wal Mart Skate Board is cheaper than a black label, plan b ect. Because the more expensive brands are better. And Every Pc i have had has become over run with viruses and not 1 with my Macs.. so what the hell are you talking ABOUT

  • uuuuum , ok so you blame your own stupidity that your PC's all got viruses , stop surfing for porn and downloading shit , u fail

  • Surfing for porn is your specialty, and what good is a computer if you can't download anything without getting a virus?

  • and what good is a computer when u cant do what u like on it ? freedom such as windows has risks , thats life my boyo , driving has risks , u just need to be careful innit :)

  • Which is why you should get a Mac because there is less risks?

  • less risks and less freedom and choice , still not a good enough reason in my views :)

  • horusvae yopu are a fucking idiot. my mackbood has the same problem, its not from the wrist, its from the fucking top closing and the magnet hitting it.

  • yup, my macbook has the same problem, though it happened after 2 years of using.

  • this just happened to mine exactly and ive seen a few others with the same problem.

  • Annoying huh!

  • dude! this happened to me like two weeks ago. Can I take it to apple retain store and ask for a new face panel?

  • its not the magnet as it would happen the other side, its wear and tear from where you're wrist rubs against it when you type on it, put some tape over it when you get it replaced (if its less than a year old apple will do this for free) over the affected area and it will be fine.

  • And how much is it after the warranty? $300?

Apple makes em so that they'll crack, you'll send em out for free, you get it back (fixed) then 6 months later it happens again, and your warranty expired. Why didn't this happen to the iBooks?

  • Yes this happened to mine as well..

If apple used a better quality plastic or just had more reinforcement in those corner areas this would not happen..

My once shiny neat looking macbook now looks like shit :(

  • also ive only had my macbook for about 2 months!

  • i have had my macbook for a little over 1 month & just noticed a crack on the bottom lip of the casing (where the top magnet meets the bottom when closed) i will be calling apple about it ! also on the left side, along the edge the plastic casing "creaks" and gives w/ the slightest touch.

  • that same shit happened to me, i was just using it as normal then i felt a sharp thing on my hand and i saw a bit of that lining hanging off same place like yours

  • Actually that happened to me too.

  • should have got the 3 year warranty

  • happened to be in the exact spot

  • me too

  • samee

  • Hi All

I have exactly the same problem, have had for about 9 months, initially fixed it with sticky tape. `But now its come off.

Who do I contact to get the problem fixed, been on apple website, get told my macbook is out of warranty.

    Thanks in advance

  • I think if you just go to the apple store? Thats what I did? But mine is still under a warranty? Just take it in....

  • Apple are replacing the top covers on Macbooks with this problem whether they're in warranty or not.

  • For real? How do you know? I'm not driving 45 minutes to the Apple Store only for them to tell me it'll be $300-750 for repair.

  • mine did that to they fixed it for free!~!~!

  • my macbook cracked above the usb ports and got replaced under apple care. it has start to crack to the right next to the head phone jack

  • Apple repaired the system free of charge under warranty. Its now got a nice new casing.

  • That sucks :(
