This is one of the most underrated movies ever. This movie is just to cool not too like it. The casting, the music, the story. everything comes togheter in this movie. Liv Tyler is underrated as an actress anyway , probably because of her dad being famous and all. Liv Tyler rules she can act.

I find it a little sad that there are, for the most part, no more record stores like this around any more. There are a few, but they are the exception. Gone is Tower Records and almost all the little local shops where you could search the vinyl, or enjoy a small in store gig by a local artist. Damned shame.

I too wanted to work at a record store after seeing this movie, but ended up at a local small town movie theatre instead. I must admit we were involved in some VERY similar shenanigans just like in this movie. Small town American movie theatres = the best times Empire Records style!

Reminds me of the old Fox Theatre in Redlands,California and one day I found the fire escape to the roof.

We sat on the roof all afternoon watching cars and people coming and going from the area..

I don't think anyone ever knew we were sitting up there watching them.

Nowadays I am a adult and often think of that sunny afternoon talking about life in that town.

Great memory about a great sunny afternoon in small town America.

I love this scene, but the ending from the Remix Edition is more subtle and funny.

If you haven't seen it, it's Mark and Eddie talking about bands in front of the store. I just felt it was what it all boiled down to in the end. Music.
