  • i had masterclass with Jon Nakamatsu in camp lol :D

  • please, can somebody give me a link where i can find a free sheet music of his arrangement? who arranged this please? i need to play this! this is just so wonderful! thanks in advance! :)

  • @RicAbapo Google. Get off of your ass.

  • @TheMerriamLookout well, that's why i asked who the arranger is so i can search it in Google smart-ass! You get off of your ass. Instead of insulting, you could have just helped me. Idk why people are just so bad. Anyway, i knew already who the arranger is. Bye. I don't need a rude person here.

  • @TheMerriamLookout you know what, if you like to help, at least do it politely. You don't have to be rude. Anyway, i would not be posting here a comment asking for FREE sheet music if i can just find it easily on google because i tried it and i didn't find one! You get your ass off. Have manners when you come back. Good day.

  • Marvelous.

But boy I wish I knew what had the audience in hysterics for much of "Stars and Stripes". I mean, the marching, the standing, and the piccolo-like ornamentation I can understand, but the two players on the right seem to be cracking everyone up.

  • Love the piccolo solo around 7:40

  • @Chuck88keys tsk! tsk!

  • Nope only 32 fingers and 8 thumbs..........and i give this the "thumbs-up" That has to be fun What about Padarewski? Could he play that with his 10 toes? Interesting

  • @Chuck88keys You do play piano with your thumbs as well, so they should count. We don't want to be racist here.

  • Nope only 32 fingers and 8 thumbs..........and i give this the "thumbs-up" That has to be fun

  • second time to watch and hear this, but felt the same way when i first heard this.. AMAZING!!!! enjoyed this alot..

  • so funny... :D

  • Horowitz could do with 10 fingers what 40 fingers could do on the second piece...

  • Brilliant; huge fun; wonderful to watch as much as to listen

  • LOL at 5:28!!! :D :D

  • This is very cleverly played . great fun to listen to and watch

  • A wonderful collaboration.

  • @gerardbedecarter Indeed, I agree with you and they are having fun judging by the laughter coming from the audience.

  • wat r d name of d song...?

  • Fun, interesting, nice... I like it...

  • I love the sound of two pianos (40 fingers)...even if the audio is poor.

  • These accomplished individuals sound great together. Enjoyed the video VERY much. Have they been persuaded to record together. If so, what label?

  • bad audio recording quality ruined this for me

  • @markrpope3

I can't understand how you can be so ungrateful. This video shows four titans playing together as one, and you're going to complain about the bad audio recording quality? Keep your comments to yourself.

  • @kjsass1 Keep your response to my response to yourself ; )

  • Absolutely Delightfull....

  • nindota oy!

  • dawać mi tu Olgę!!!...reszta wypad!

  • banda idiotów,,,,ale,ale...jest tam chyba Olga Kern?

  • Wonderful!! :o)

  • The Stars & Stripes arrangement sounds like it's the American Piano Quartet's arrangement. They may have done the Faust Waltz as well

  • Comment removed

  • Does someone know the name of this waltz and who was it arranged by?

The tuning and voicing of these pianos is perfect!

    A real pleasure to hear.

  • Mr. Witherspoon, I believe the first piece is from Charles Gounod's "Faust Waltz" and the second part is from the piece "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Phillip Sousa. I hope this helps. I appreciate this rendition because of the four-person dynamic.

  • Well, if you could fit four people into the same bed, what may you think?

Too much of a good thing can be wonderful? I think not.

  • Wonderful ! !

  • I was in a concert in aalborg where i live and i was listening to Olga playing Rachmaninov piano concert no. 3. Her grandmother was singing together with Rachmaninov!!

  • Great I loved it!!

  • my piano teacher is Stanislav's wife and he is incredible i hear him from the basement during my lessons and he is absolutely inccredible

  • hey!! who is this? I'm maria, im stanislav's daughter!

  • @kittyluvr12 oh this is zach

  • @rhstsoccer

oh hey zach! zach klemman, right??

  • Olga Kern is so funny! And she is very charismatic on stage. I had the pleasure to see 2 of her recitals.

  • What is this? 4 hand bridge?

  • Very very good.

  • lol yes it was XD

  • What Does XD mean?

  • XD is supposed to be an emoticon for grinning so big that your eyes squint, tip your head to the left lol

  • Wonderfull! They're very very very good in piano and this combination make them better then solo!

  • as a pianist, playing solo can be lonely--piano quartets are so fun, combining talent with camarederie!

  • this made me smile. :)

  • I love this waltz! How fun!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5*

  • lulz. you kno he isn't...

  • lol. he is definitely not your teacher. sorry.

  • Wow! I love the way they play.

  • woww top of the top of the top play 2gether.

  • wheew ! 8 hands in 2 pianos ! thats cool mennn !! X)

  • Dude Stanislav is the MAN. I mean, I love Olga and everything - I really do. Like seriously, she's awesome. But Ioudenitch is just GOD. He has such a tender touch.

  • I am not as much of a fan of Stanislav as I am of Olga to be honest! They are both phoenominal pianists, but if you watch "Playing on the Edge" the dvd about the 2001 competition, you learn to fall in love with Olga! Shes awesome!

  • @Milw100 And beautiful, as are Russian females.

  • awesome! I played this piece last summer at camp....so much fun!

  • I saw Nakamatsu play Rachs third a month ago and it was astounding, what even more astounding is how he said his hands can only reach an octave. O_O

  • that's about....hmm...... 40 FINGERS?????

  • @chiarapetrachi

    No...43 :)))

  • @chiarapetrachi 32 fingers and 8 thumbs

  • The highest level. Oh man. That's the top.

  • they are so cute!!!! :)

  • I love it~

  • The atmosphere on the second piece in my opinion was light-hearted and intended to be fun. (read 7:45) Please, do not take yourselves so seriously.

    Terrific!

  • where can i find the sheet music to the first piece??

  • Liszt waltz from faust - Schirmer's is always a good bet

  • Wonderful playing! I just HATE the fact that people think that they're entitled or obligated to clap (out of beat) during any song they recognise. I want to hear the music, not the audience.

  • Agreed! People always clap during Stars and Stripes- and unfortunately during the Piccalo's (or in this case piano) shining moment! Drives me nuts!

  • oh come on, it's stars and stripes, haha

  • coool¡¡¡¡

  • I study with Stanislav and am so honored to! He is a very kind and welcoming person as well as an amazing instructor. Thank you to the VCF for posting this!

  • I did not understand either

  • I LOVE NAKAMATSU(:

  • Me too. I had the pleasure in seeing him perform Beethoven's 3rd concerto with the SF Symphony a few years ago. It was a real beautiful interpretation. I especially enjoyed it as it was my standard competition piece when I was a teen. He was accurate and distinct. It was funny, because I emailed him from his website complimenting him. He was saying how he was nervous he's be late because he was grading quizzes. He's really down to earth.

  • i was honored to be in a masterclass with him this summer! he is such a great teacher, a wonderful man, and what a phenomenal performer! he played a concert the next night after the masterclass...WOW!

  • Infinitely many times better than the five browns.

  • Ah, Waltzes from Faust. I've played this before many years ago...such a fun piece. Nice to see big stars playing it. 5 stars.

  • olga kern is definitely one of the top 5 performing pianist in the world right now...no joke. she is amazing.

  • Enjoyed this very much!

    :)

  • I can't Believe it, me and my fellow piano Students performed the SAME Waltz at a concert last year! We did not play it this fast, however. Personally, I prefer it a bit slower.. ;D

  • (Recital, I Should Say.)

  • great performance+ funny! they should do the world concert together. I'm glad Stanislov Ioudentich's here in Kansas City. I've seen him live. He's one of the best :)

  • I don't get what's so funny.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE JON! :)

  • This is one of very few pices of music where any number of pianists can get together and "murder" the Stars and Stripes. This is exceptionally good, as are the four pianists hamming it up. Good on them for making it so enjoyable

  • Man, Stan and Jose lay the bass on real heavy with the low Bb at 6:18 and 6:26... sounds nice!

  • yup. in about 3:00

  • Jon Nakamatsu is the best!!! I love him!!!

Buy his CDs and support his quest to become the best piano player ever!!!

  • Wow, this just made my entire day! And I was fortunate enough to Olga in concert last evening. What a performer!

  • Wunderbar, Baby!

  • man, i wish i was there. all of them are amazing!

  • Wow, just imagine sitting between the two pianos......

  • Oh, Lord, I wish I was there.

  • don't take it TOO seriously... everything is predictible.. listen to Radiohead's KID A . Bye

  • Oops, Jon N's speech was at the Int'l Amateur's Piano Comp., where he was a judge, as was Feghali and Kern.

    Gerry

  • why do they stop clapping? :)

  • Perhaps because it drowns out the sound of the piano a little... =oD

  • okay extra 5 points then ;) hahahhahaha

  • Now this is my idea of heaven on earth - the nearest you can get on this earth. (I played piano for many years, but disability put an end to it). I can still listen though...

  • Such fun, not to be taken too seriously. There must be tons of repertory for this combination, it's a shame you never get to hear it.

  • Trust me, there's not much. The staple is a Bederich Smetena Sonata that he wrote to play with his friends. Past that it gets a bit thin.

  • What a wonderful way to spend an evening, both pianist and audience enjoying and savouring the moment. Great fun!

  • what faust?

  • The first piece was Waltz from Faust and the second piece was the Stars and Stripes Forever.

  • What song is this, and who is it by? Four pianists thought it would be fun to play... "what's it called?"

An excellent performance, of course. Thanks for posting!

  • What a HOOT! Pedal-duty must have been rather like game of Twister...

  • Usually you have one person (Usually the left) use the pedals and the other just play.

  • mouhahaha

  • And when 3 persons playing, the last one do what ?

  • That Sentence Did not make much sense to me. They all play at once, thats why its a quartet.

  • This is fantastic. Brought tears to my eyes, both of laughter and inspiration. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share this glorious performance.

  • We were told there that the entire competition is going to be documented on a feature film entitled "88" (could be a tentative title). I'm sure that we will get to see an HD/CD quality video/audio in the film.

  • This was a once in a lifetime gift from these astounding musicians. I'm so happy that I was in the audience that night. What a fun evening it was !!

  • Pinache-bravura,a-la-Victor Borga; hat's off.BRAVO. This should give the public a rush to learn to play. 2Hands most difficult;only enjoyed by forte-pianist,i.e.JamaicanRhumba/BoitSurLeT(D.Milhaud),etc.

  • cliburn org

  • Enthralling! What was Ms. Kern doing around 6:37 that made the audience laugh? Any close ups of the performers available elsewhere?

  • articultions-dynamics accented only more to each phrase (i.e., english-sentence).

  • She was blowing a fake kiss to Ioudenitch. This was all such a riot. Splendid playing, very exciting!
