@nextbestguitarist Return of the Motherheads Family Reunion and Peace Sign are great studio albums. Check out Electric Joy for some awesome fusion playing too. His Live in Sao Paolo album/DVD is probably my favourite though.
@walterockmx but i don't really think he has any special dimarzio's in his strats. I know that in tele's he has Twang King pups, and in the strat i thing it's a virtual vintage, but check it
thank you very much for answering one of my questions, by the way, few months ago sent a mail asking to the dimarzio,s tech guys the same question, they told me this:
Richie's pickups are very similar to an HS-2 (DP116) wired in single-coil mode (red wire hot, all other wires ground). If you prefer a similar sound in a humcancelling pickup, you might have a look at the Area 61 (DP416
@walterockmx Good call man.I run DP HS series P/ups in most of my Strats and they are what I would suggest for these kinds of tones as well.I believe YJM uses the HS p/up's as well. But I like their bite and versatility in response with guitars volume levels.Really a good all around p/up with lots of power.
I would like to check out the area51,I know most all old Dimarzios, what would you say comes closest to the 51 if I could ask?
He used to shred but changed styles, alot of guitarists do that that no offence but shredding is more popular with the teen type crowd. He is a great singer though.
Well, a lot of his current playing is still very shred based. This is a bad example, but a lot of his other material is very shreddy. Even this has some shred licks in it. He just integrates a lot of funky and bluesy licks which make his style unique. It's funky shred lol
for me he is really a genius that's why he changed styles, not like malmsteen or other that makes from twenty years the same things:):)it's alright he is also a great singer
I hear blues, rock, some jazz and country. I love the riffs in 1:23 to 1:30 - excellent. To me, you come across as a well-rounded guitarist and that's what I'd like to aim for.

This guy is wicked, in some ways his playing reminds me of Marty Friedman. It seems like he should be playin an Ibanez or something, the strat sounds odd for his style.
Yes I know...a little bit harsh what I said...but when I wrote that I just got to know those guitars and there is really no comparision to those well known guitars. Fender, Gibson, Ibanez are decent guitars but they totally lack in comparison to the aforementioned guitars.
great playability, tone, sustain. Richie Kotzen's signature Guitars are so much better than the average fender. But the Average Fender is definitly not as good as some handmade guitars...quality control...perfect instruments.
I know how you feel - I've been playing for a long time and am just now starting to develop some dexterity. I really wish I could make my fingers go faster - too many bad habits picked up along the way :(

Those guys shouldn't play gibson, fender ibanez or any other sucky brand...they should play a ruokangas, Nick Huber, Fibenare or Düsenberg
