Awwww both of your kids have diabetes? It's so strange because i'm a twin, but my sister does not have diabetes and i've had it for 9 years now. It's just surprising hearing that both kids happened to get it!
Well, I wouldnt agree with you on that. Most pumps on the market do what they say they do. And each has its positives and negatives. The omnipod is nice- can't comment because we dont use one. But what happens if the PDM gets wet or lost? Whats the lowest basal rate for it? Not as low as ping which is why we chose it. We've had great results with both pumps we use.
In a perfect world it would be nice to just have the ability to just switch pumps at will but it doesnt work that way. When you have to manage 2 young children with this disease, you try and stick with something comfortable. Both are happy children and having a pod IMO wouldnt have that much of an effect on their childhoods.
Yeah. we have gone through 5 pumps with MM. and a big shocker the 6th one is still working! but we know someone who works for animas her name is Abby Wunderlich. Shes a camp counslor at Camp hertko hollow in Boone IA. Its really funn there.
Thank you for the update i really needed to know because we are getting the animas pump soon. your little boy has it too! Omg it must be hard with 2 that have the diaseas. Im the only one in my family we still dont know how it passed over to me my great grandma she had gestaional. I have the minimed right now mine doesnt really work for me. My mom hates the company so shes getting me animas.
Not really that much harder since we know. Not like blindsiding a new family. It could be a fluke T1 isnt hereditary (or doesnt have to be). Gestational isnt really related to T1.
Wow thats shocking. Weve always had good exp w/Medtronic. In fact we just decided to switch influsion sets and get nextday'd them to us even though it was very close to the next day cutoff. The MM is just easier IMO- you have to manually enter BS and Carbs while MM is already there. Animas is still a good choice.
I believe they are actually the same thing. The difference is the PING is the Meter/Remote part so you would be getting the same pump. So I think you cant get the 2020 w/out the PING.
We got it because Emily needed the smaller increments but other than that we arent as impressed and probably wouldve gotten the Minimed like we did for her brother. Hope that helps ya.
