If a child is not old enough for the game, then the parent should act responsibly and not buy it for them.
Seriously, if your child asked for a packet of cigarettes, a six pack of beers and a stash of porn magazines - would you really buy it all for them? No, of course not.
@DAGANGSTABAGEL There is a vast difference in personalities, and different people are affected by gaming. To keep it all short like a mainstream example as FPS games such as Call of Duty making people rage sometimes into "extreme madness" which we find humorous, but it can affect their whole day and how the treat it. Most people aren't so stupid as to attack someone IRL cause of it, but would be acting a bit more temperamental with what goes on that day if whatever it is, is not to their liking.
I know a 15 year old who's deeply disturbed by Call of Duty, etc. but I also know a 5 year old that can play Left 4 Dead and whatnot and giggle at the violence. It really does vary.
Played Mario Kart Wii, now I want to drive in a Go-Kart on the road and throw turtle shells and bananas at random cars hoping I make it in first place..
i wish they didnt narrow it down. some games overdo the violence. i am 11 years old and i know a 9 year old who plays resident evil, gears of war, and risestance.
End of the day its the parents that let their kids buy the game. The know the age rating and if they think the game is inapropiant take the game away all you have to do is watch what their playing.
No, people are going to be seen to violence one way or another some time in their lives. how young it occurs DOES matter, but in the early stages of life, like 3-6.
@jknsps The weirdest part about this quest is that nudest proved that it can be curved... If we were meant to wear cloths we would have been born with them... O and about the sexual acts. What you gonna do if two dogs start humping infront of your kid... Daddy Mommy what are they doing. Well son the other dog is helping the dog on the bottom. :)) " O ya I'm for and againts the idea... Hard to explain. Because real life sucks It'll throw a curve ball.
I know its much more hurtful for a child to see an act of sex than a hooker being ran over. Violence in games is no where near as bad. Its because of the hippie make peace not war bullshit, and the oh its an alternative lifestyle bullshit is a good mix of why we see that.
@insanity401 and that hippe thing isnt possiable without violence anymore, so i dont understand. and everyone who thinks these games are bad are just jealous they they cant quick scope and 360 no scope like we can
Why the hell would buy a 10 year CoD? I don't care about the kid himself... but it ruins the experience for the older gamers when little brats come on the multiplayer, its rated 17+/18+ for a reason you know...
Has any of them actually tried... Shit I dont know parenting. You know telling your child what they can and cant do. If they want something you dont like you tell them no and thats that. If they are playing too much you tell them to get off and go outside or something. Yea, thats right parenting. I know its a hard concept but our ancestors did it so I think we will be fine.
Over regulation of video games is a dumb idea that wont solve anything.Parents should start regulating there kids better take some responsibility and dont blame society for every little problem your having with your child.
Video games have an age rating. Parents that are worried about their kids playing violent or harmful video games are parents that can not control their kids. Parents have the authority to take away certain possessions of their kids, like video games, if your kid cries and begs you to give it back, simply say no and tell him.her why. Or another simple way is to sit down with your kid and discuss with them about the game itself, explain why it is violent and could be harmful towards them.
see the way the media puts things into its favour is it will say something completely irrelevant to the crime but still put it in there to make is seem relevant. this is shown with "7 year old gets into fight after playing halo 3". the two things are likely completely unrelated, but since whoevers writing the article doesnt like video games, hell do that to put it in his favour. if i didnt like donuts, i could say "rapist attacks after break at donut shop".
first of all finish with violence in cartoons you moorons, cartoons are mostly only for kidsy, violent video games are for 18+ people, so wheres the problem?
I remember when I first saw the Terminator, and when the Terminator rose from the flames... It scared the shit out of me. Everyone reacts differently to everything. The one rule is that if you can't draw the line between fantasy and reality, you shouldn't be playing games or watching TV. I can tolerate game and movie violence to an extent, but I know the horror of real life violence.
There is some truth but let's face it. Every generation compares each other with older ones. I saw the kids through the 80's and 90's and kids today are defiantely more radical, superficial and faker than before. The stupid image and music is important now, dumb and rude behavior is applauded and parents don't know how to raise their kids no more. They use more drugs. alchohol and are less motivated because of staying inside playing games and internet addiction. Technology causes individualism.
It's the Fictional games that scare kids. Seeing someone shot when your 2 is weird cause they don't know what is happening while when seeing a alien rip off someones head by twisting it. You'll shit yourself
Parents don't understand that violence is inertly perceived differently among everybody. I played super-violent shooter games when I was 2. Did fuck me up. Saw Luke Skywalker get his hand chopped off. Had nightmares for weeks (although I love Star Wars nowadays). Violence is in the eye of the beholder. Personally understanding has always been important for me, so while I could pop a random no-name soldier in the head, I wouldn't care. But develop that character (Skywalker) and it affected me.
What i find mostly hilarious is that the ones who've yet to even touch a video game are the ones claiming that video games are a conductor of violence. They have no real experience with the medium, but they're ready to point fingers and make assumptions. How disgustingly ignorant.
violent video games actually relieve stress for me if im mad, like the times i get in verbal fights with my dad i would play dead rising and beat the shit out of the zombies and it made me feel alot less stressed, but no these dumbass kids have to shoot people in schools and ruin EVERYTHING for the rest of us, ive always loved drawing guns and people shooting zombies or battles and now if i get caught i get sent to the fucking office and sometimes theyll call the police and investigate
what is wrong with playing violent games i would never want to kill as guy.... i play gears of war cod dead rising manhunt gta ect and i dont have the erge to kill a guy people kill because they have medial issues like skits or they have to no games that have violence
wow even i ve been playing video game since i was 4 ( am 16 btw ) and shooters always was the genre i hated the most it to repetive I rather games that has alot of adventure gamea like zelda , final fantasy , dragon quest or horror ones like haunting ground ( or a funny version like luigi s mansion )
-_-'' i have been playing shit like Grand Theft Auto since i was 10 years old, and even since i was 5 i would watch my dad play things like resident evil, all this stuff with bloody, "unpleasant" violence, and yet i am probably one of the least violent people you would ever meet. sure i like to talk about violent shows and games with my friends, but that doesn't mean i want to do it, i actually can't think of anything i want to do LESS than get into a real fight
Video games aren't going away - rather than fight it, work with it.
Check out the website at playitsayit com
The idea is to use video game consoles to help people by linking phone and online counseling through the actual console - it's already got voice chat, so it's no different to a phone. Do you reckon it would work?
im fifteen and ive been playing halo since i was six. this is really insulting because people are just saying im a crazy murderer just cause ive been playing doom and halo my whole life.
@MrShoomaloom hmm i know exactly what you meant, when me and my sister were 5, we would just watch my dad play Resident Evil 2 all the time, but i would never play it because. well. i was 5, and it was a horror game. but seriously, it's absolutely pathetic, ask ANYONE i know, and they will tell you how much i hate fighting. in fact the only time i ever wanted to really punch someone, and almost did, was because i was being bullied my whole life, and had nothing to do with any games.
I played violent video games all my life, watched gorey r18 movies when i was 9 or ten listen to the most aggresive music around, never did anything violent. Blame the people not the games or movies, if you're dumb you're gonna do dumb things regardless of what you watch, if you're smart you not gonna do that stuff.
I don't think the problem is the game but the person. If the player has tendencies toward psychopathy, paranoia, and obsession (in other words, not right in the head) it could be problematic. But in the hands of a mentally capable person, it's fine. Some people blame stuff like Columbine on Doom and Marylin Manson, but I say the real problem is that loonies like Harris and Klebold had access to weapons, especially guns.
Hey, bitch number one, WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BUY A 10 YEAR OLD COD? WHAT THE FUCK? DON'T BITCH "O MY LITTLE JOHNNY PLAYS TOO MUCH COD" THEY FUCKING MAKE IT MATURE FOR A GOD DAMN REASON, AND IF YOU WANT YOUR KID TO DO GOOD, DON'T PUNISH THE FUCKING GAMING COMMUNITY BY YOUR IRRESPONSIBILE PARENTING, FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU
@Eskimo407 It's just the "cool" thing to do atm. People are always influenced by others, group preasure etc. So if news or something else mentions it, or lawyers who has everything to gain on it, then they will jump on the bandwagon. It will pass eventuelly once the ignorant people learn that its not necesserly dangerous. And with not necesserly, i mean not at all. But yea, they are idiots.
I think that it's fine for kids to play violent games as long as they understand it's not real violence or fighting. Oh yeh and Halo 3 should not be rated M Uncharted 2 has more blood than Halo and Uncharted 2 is rated T
He's right about the part that some kids Handel it diffrent than other kids but the parents should not just buy any video games for their six year old because if they ban violent video games in America I would kill my self
These Violent video games must end! WE must change the programming of our mass world media and prohibit violence which influences each subconscious mind with very ugly visions which make us forget who we are and who created our life source and it also weakening our love nature, which is our true nature! If we cannot change the media, then we must start to remove ourselves from their influence. These video games are making children more violent, aggressive and abusive. Have you not realized that?
@ElitePirate296 violent video games are prohibited in california i think..if not its some state anyway its compltely retarded...its the parents fault......... spend time with your kids
Well maybe if the parents looked at the rateing we woulden't have this problem but for some overly retarded reason us mature gamers are copping the shit because 8 year old Billy's mum brought him an MA game thank you little twats
People just want sumthing 2 blame it on, they tried music that failed, they tried tv that fell through etc and the new thing is games. I'm positive it will fall away and sumthing new will take it's place I garuntee it my guess is oranges promote violence and prosthetic limbs are the cause of people swearing.
OMG, guys i jast like played like call of dutyz, yew know the one aboutz histori and about like world wars , like them documantaries on tv, where no violence or stopid crap exast, and i just like wannna go running with a flame trowa yelling LEROY JENKINS!!! and burn all them people in my neighboorhood, cuz like mom took my video game away, cuz she saidz is violent, soo i washed tv and i like wanna burn something now. k bye!!
It's great seeing an intellectual like this guy making an unbiased statement about Fantasy vs. Reality. Also, he's not on a biased show like Fox News or whatever so he actually had a chance to extend his theories without getting cut off/interrupted.
Ive played pretty much all of the Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. I remember Freshman year at HS we were in shop class and a classmate cut his fingertip on a sander. Seeing the blood made me a little sick... and those games had a LOT of blood.
Maybe the game provides an outlet for certain impulses, that it fills a void in our genetic makeup that the more civilizing effects of society failed to provide for.
Who says society is getting anymore violent rather then what is consistent with higher population.
are so many parents obsessed with violent games...then I must be really lucky...I can play whatever I want...but my friend isn't allowed to play unreal...and he is 16...
Parents: Do you want your kids to be stable, healthy and non violent? That's easy. Step 1: Spend quality time with them. Step 2: Learn to play Halo. Step 3: Don't let them play like 10 hours a day. Step 4 (The most important): Take all psychiatric drugs, all the Xanaxes and Valiums and Prozacs and Ritalins and throw them on a pyre. Don't use pills to mess with your kid's brain chemistry.
Too many parents shuv their kids off to video games so they won't have to spend extra time with them and then wonder why they may become aggressive to the point of murder. Others are so stupid that they let their 6-year old play games like Counter-Strike or Call of Duty.
Removing such games won't change anything. Movies would be the instant substitute. It's up to the parents to help develop a stable environment in which the child grows healthy.
See also parents the esrb said if there is a game where you have to learn how to use a gun and shoot someone or something alive, excluting hunting games, are going to be rated M. Choose when you want your kid to play these games. Like he said violence at what age should kids see it. GTA is one story sex shooting civilians going to jail and things bad. Id say probably a little older for that game but Halo, Call of duty, Medal of Honor, etc. I would say around teens there not graphic.
It's all just fabricated lies, video games do not cause violence! There is as much proof for video game violence as there is for Jesus, Atalantis and Santa combined!
Comic books also used to receive this same treatment by the media and now we do not even hear about comics any more, AND comics do not have an age rating...
oh shut up with this crap.unless ur a parent or gardern u should get a life and leave kids alone. not all kids play games and get influenced. i play M rated games and i am fine. i get good grades, barley get in trouble and i am not rude unless i want to get my point across. u might ask, how old am i but that is not ur bussness, as u do not no me and thats not ur responcability, period.
The reasons kids play M rated games is because they are the good ones. What 15 year old wants to play "Dora's exploration adventure!"
I mean, wtf? You want violence? Join the fucking Military and grab a rifle and kill motherfucker. Video games aren't violence, the REAL world is violence.
That's right, I've been in for 8 years now, and I got another 92 coming, Oorah. How old are you now?
If you want any help, or if you have any questions, I'll gladly help. I'm currently out on liberty, so I'm at home for a week. Still, being in the Corps hasn't stopped me from being a gamer. I've played everything from Pac-Man to Call of Duty, they are all good.
@TheCrazySweed lol semper fi brother..got out in 08 now in college, your right about the real world, if u wanna see true brutal shit enlist, grab a weapon and start killing motherfuckers..people these days dont understand. semper fi devil dog
if parents don't want their kids exposed 2 violence they need to watch what they're kids watch. Im sick of it as hell because the parents let the kids play gta and halo and blame it on videogames when they let the kids play the damn thing. it pisses me off
If parent don't want their kid to be exposed to violence the answer is simple. USE A CONDOM. This world is f**ed up, anbd there's violence everywhere.
the only reason people blame video games for children violence is that its easy to blame. the only reason for children being violent is either mental problems, or bad parenting. no one is that stupid to club someone in the head like u do in gta. games r just an escape from real life like reading and other hobbies
exactly, every bad thing that happens on the news like shooting or something, the people dont care the blame it on the game, and your point is correct people are to paranoid and when you play these games they think you woulds shoot everyone if you get mad.
Good opinions

Video-games are a good way to let out that stress, not build it up.
I've been playing shooters for a while, and I don't really think about crap like, "I'm gonna kill you!"
TuckingFypos101 1 year ago 3
violent video games actually relieve stress for me if im mad, like the times i get in verbal fights with my dad i would play dead rising and beat the shit out of the zombies and it made me feel alot less stressed, but no these dumbass kids have to shoot people in schools and ruin EVERYTHING for the rest of us, ive always loved drawing guns and people shooting zombies or battles and now if i get caught i get sent to the fucking office and sometimes theyll call the police and investigate

-_-'' i have been playing shit like Grand Theft Auto since i was 10 years old, and even since i was 5 i would watch my dad play things like resident evil, all this stuff with bloody, "unpleasant" violence, and yet i am probably one of the least violent people you would ever meet. sure i like to talk about violent shows and games with my friends, but that doesn't mean i want to do it, i actually can't think of anything i want to do LESS than get into a real fight
residentevilkid01 1 year ago
Video games aren't going away - rather than fight it, work with it.
Check out the website at playitsayit com
The idea is to use video game consoles to help people by linking phone and online counseling through the actual console - it's already got voice chat, so it's no different to a phone. Do you reckon it would work?

MrShoomaloom 1 year ago
@MrShoomaloom hmm i know exactly what you meant, when me and my sister were 5, we would just watch my dad play Resident Evil 2 all the time, but i would never play it because. well. i was 5, and it was a horror game. but seriously, it's absolutely pathetic, ask ANYONE i know, and they will tell you how much i hate fighting. in fact the only time i ever wanted to really punch someone, and almost did, was because i was being bullied my whole life, and had nothing to do with any games.
residentevilkid01 1 year ago

If a kid isn't violent by himself and doesn't have any serious mental issues, there's absolutely nothing for parents to worry about, IMO.
Also, Tom&Jerry is a whole lot more likely to cause violence than GTA.

Ive played pretty much all of the Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. I remember Freshman year at HS we were in shop class and a classmate cut his fingertip on a sander. Seeing the blood made me a little sick... and those games had a LOT of blood.

LesPaul2006 2 years ago 55
@LesPaul2006 You sir, should be entitled a medal.

Yocaptonyo101X 2 years ago
See also parents the esrb said if there is a game where you have to learn how to use a gun and shoot someone or something alive, excluting hunting games, are going to be rated M. Choose when you want your kid to play these games. Like he said violence at what age should kids see it. GTA is one story sex shooting civilians going to jail and things bad. Id say probably a little older for that game but Halo, Call of duty, Medal of Honor, etc. I would say around teens there not graphic.
Yocaptonyo101X 2 years ago

KyleAndStanCODMW2 2 years ago
The reasons kids play M rated games is because they are the good ones. What 15 year old wants to play "Dora's exploration adventure!"

if parents don't want their kids exposed 2 violence they need to watch what they're kids watch. Im sick of it as hell because the parents let the kids play gta and halo and blame it on videogames when they let the kids play the damn thing. it pisses me off
MrCimbalista 2 years ago 5
If parent don't want their kid to be exposed to violence the answer is simple. USE A CONDOM. This world is f**ed up, anbd there's violence everywhere.
LesPaul2006 2 years ago
the only reason people blame video games for children violence is that its easy to blame. the only reason for children being violent is either mental problems, or bad parenting. no one is that stupid to club someone in the head like u do in gta. games r just an escape from real life like reading and other hobbies
xXGuitarMuffinsXx 2 years ago 5
One of the main reasons for violence in kids (if not the biggest reason) is one and only one: PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION.
